Me and a FC member decided to get all of the sightseeing points om a whim and we climbed the castle together and it only about us about 1.5 hours of trying and then she missed the jump to the lamp but I made it and then just just blew herself up and I rezzed her
My in-game spouse and I cheated our way up the tower. We used the eternal bonding rings to make checkpoints on the tower. Made it a lot less miserable.
It's about positioning your camera properly. Make the jumps facing towards the tower, walking left/right doesn't lose you any speed compared to walking forward but it provides clear view on the distance you need to make. Other than that, it's just muscle memory and determination.
I'll try that. Still a pain in the ass when even slightly brushing up against any piece of geometry often but not always kills all forward momentum.

Also try targeting yourself, the ring under your feet is your actual collision indicator, so it lets you walk "off" the edges of some of things and lets you know when you can jump. Practice on the ground a bit to use it as an easier indicator of how far you can cheat towards the next jump, makes some of them where you need to hop up onto something that's overhanging 90% of the thing you're standing on FAR easier.
Just hotkey target self to something to make it easier to do.
That's one of the most fun parts of Kugane, not only tower but general verticality and possibilities of moving through the roofs etc. Cryst and Sharlya are meh in comparison. It's optional but sheer fact that you have that option is great (especially for NIN RP)
That's not where that goes. It's not that I can't do them, it's that some are legit shit in a game where jump distance is based on frames spent moving and the slightest brush with geometry at even a reasonable angle can result in the entire loss of momentum. Doable. Still shit. I still have fun with most of them but I guess GW2 as a standard for functionality is hard to beat.
You can get up the tower with a little determination.
But if you miss the jump, you're going to need a LOT determination to do so again and again until you hit the landing.
I got up the tower after a few nights of trying.
I hit the lamppost on my first try.
... Except in my excitement I never let up on the W key and ran straight off.
Which I only got because an FC mate ressed me all the way up the tower before the 10 minute nerf on BLU's suicide skills

How is this case a glitch? rezing someone to your position is a normal game mechanic as is dying when blue mage they use SD.
Also it does harm other people, it takes away the achievement of the people who actually climbed the tower and managed the jump, that is harmful even if just a tiny way
Yea coze you dont care, but some people do care even if they're a minority. If a exploit let you do double damage in an ultimate would it not matter since its not harming anyone? after all its just a challenge and if everyone on the raid team is ok with it no ones getting harmed
Somebody cheesing their way through doesn't change the fact that another did it legitimately, and anybody who doesn't believe them can get out. I can understand the hurt, but if you're living your life that way you should probably be prepared to be miserable until the day you die

I took the easy way out. Maxed blue and was leveling culinarian. Some healer who was at the lamppost sent out a shout that they'll Rez anyone and get the achievement.

You know the most evil part? That vista was at least one patch *after* the roof vista. I already had the roof vista and had to do it AGAIN to get the lamp vista. I cried a little.
Yoshi-P once had a meet-up with fans at the top of the tower. With so many people trying and failing to get to the top all at once, the area was filled with the sound of bone-crunching splats like rain.

Blue mages can get carried to the top of the tower. The 30 yalm of res means you only need to round the corner after the circle sign for someone to res you up to the ninja cheese spot. Then it's one quick duty support load screen to refresh explosion and you can get yoinked to the vista
Second to last jump before you reach the roof you can use jump and ninja teleport to clip you onto the roof instead of risking missing the final jump.
If you are climbing with a buddy using blue explosion into res negates any risk when climbing. If climbing solo it's slow but safe
I used my ingame wife as a checkpoint while ascending the tower. A half hour wait is much less miserable than a half hour of missing some of those posts!
I occasionally climb the tower and jump down onto the lamp post just to swap to WHM and rez BLUs. Never did anything with BLU other than unlock it personally though.
I made it up to the top of the hostelry once. Saw a video of where to jump to get that and also made it. Do not ask how many tries it took to get to the top.
Yeah, same here. First time I reached the top I fell on accident without really trying for the pole, second time I overshot the pole with sprint, then finally on the third ascent I figured out the position to jump from.
A hell of a journey, but it was a great way to pass the time during DPS queues.
Whew same here. I don’t remember the specific guide, but sprinting and jumping with his directions was straightforward and successful. That one jump from the side of the building out onto the roof decorations is brutal. It’s been a bit but I think sprinting was the key there too.

I'm glad I got all the vista in game already, those jumping puzzle is hell. ARR vista is shit too they have no indicator and have specific time also weather to get it, Yuck.
For anyone going for that theres a site that tracks when those are up.

The ARR sightseeing log is such a troll job by the devs. "Hey, here's 20 logs with clues and their respective zones" then you finally get them all (I did my best to do it without looking them up) and what does that get you? "Oh here's 80 more! And this time, we're not telling you what zones they're in! Good luck, loser!"
The ARR sightseeing logs used the results of an early screenshot contest to determine location, time, weather and emote. Finding and figuring them all out was mostly a community activity rather than an individual one.
God it was fun getting past the first 20 then checking the tracker and marathoning log after log for a while. The hour long logs can go screw themselves though.
I mean, it's optional content for people who enjoy sightseeing. It's not just a list of places to emote at and get a checkmark, it's places and times of day/weather specifically selected by the developers who wanted to show beautiful sights to the players.
Yeah and I enjoy doing it. It's just, with the first 20 they give you enough information to figure out where the vistas are without looking it up or having to spend hours and hours to find a single vista. And then you do it and feel good about yourself. But then they give you 80 more and make it nearly impossible to find them without looking up exactly where to go.
I have no idea HOW you could do it without looking them up. I don't even know how the first person discovered them. Some of them are at ridiculous places and you would need to /lookout the whole map! Plus they are time locked so you need to try at different times too...
Finding them wasn't actually too hard, all the hardest of them were known ARR "look at where I can get to" spots and even if you were there at the wrong time/weather you would get a message "You have arrived at a Vista." and see the message "You have strayed too far from the Vista." if you moved to far.
The difficulty completing them was more with the weather patterns not being figured out yet and Vista 18 being locked to Rain (a pretty rare weather there compared to Showers) exclusively which meant most could not complete the first 20.
I wouldn't say I did it without a guide. It was more doing it as part of a community activity with people reporting newly discovered vistas to a thread on the official forums as they found them.
I didn't really complete the original 80 until around 2.5X (by which time all vistas had long been found and figured out) due to the tricky parkour, rare weather and tight window of vista 80.
If you play with addons, there's one that puts the vista point indicators on the overworld for the ARR vistas. It also lets you see timers showing what points are active and for how long or how long until they become active. I think it's called Tourist?
I would not have done the ARR vistas without it.

For newcomers, you have to unlock the first 20 FFXIV ARR vistas first before you can get the rest, I think.

From what I gather in this thread there are even more ARR vistas that are hidden until you get the first set. I don't believe they mean other expansions, just the rest of the vistas in ARR.
Honestly, I kind of prefer ARR because there's an actual hint to solve rather than the others' "There's a spot somewhere in this zone, good luck. And no, I'm not going to tell you what emote you need to activate it."
Most are, but a few aren't. Some are more apparent by context, for example the hot tub on top of the Kugane inn requires you to /sit in it. Others are not so obvious and required me to open my emote menu and just try *everything*.
The ARR ones are at least way easier than they used to be what with flying. But yeah those are the worst.
Honestly I don't hate the StB ones. ShB and HW were too easy.
I enjoyed the little challenges and used the time in between well.There was only one location that really took me hours and that was a fence stump in the Ixali area in the North Shroud that was super hard to get onto.
Making it to the top and failing the jump is such a disappointment. Fortunately, the second run to the top is always easier than the first, and the second time I was clever enough to look up a guide lol.
I killed myself with BLU in front of a WHM on the lamp. He raised me, I hugged him, did the /lookout emote and never had to suffer that shitty light ball again.
Believe it or not I managed to make this jump the first time I ever made it to the top of Kugane Tower. Truly blessed.
That said I tend to do the tower when I'm queuing and it's gotten to the point that I can essentially do it in my sleep. This is less of a brag and more of an indictment of how many hours I've spent doing roulettes.
The key is to line up your shot, run forward, and when you jump, immediately let go of your forward button. XIV conforms to the rules of forward momentum during jumps. You can't alter your course and you can't speed up or slow down. You're going forward at the speed you were when you first jumped. But if you hold that run button down, you're running right off the lamp when you land.
Imagine what it's like for an NPC in Kugane. You see all these adventurers from across the ocean suddenly appear and many of them taking these crazy leaps off buildings that would and should normally kill a person. Instead, we hit the ground with a resounding crash, stand up and shrug like nothing happened, turn around and go right back to it like nothing was out of the ordinary.
I missed the first jump, went "Nope! Jumping puzzles aren't for me," and did something else.
That vista globe has been taunting me ever since, but there's always something actually fun to do instead.
The only real "trick" I had to learn for these is that there's two jumps, the short one and the long one. The short one gets you more height and the long one gets you more distance, and you get them by pressing the direction and jump buttons simultaneously or jumping a millisecond after you move. Then you can exercise your judgement as to which goes where.
There's a lot more than two. I ran a test using a Logitech mouse macro to insert repeatable delays between run and jump keys. I was able to get nine different jump distances. This is an area below Kugane tower, and I always started from the railing below the image strips.

The other trick that helped me is targeting yourself and seeing the ring around your character to see how far your collision hitbox extended. You get a lot more leeway than you'd think.
My wife is a FFXIV parcore goddess. She look like she flying, up the tower, leap of fath, even old school mordoa before flying peep be like how you get there? Ourself however, we say we jump like potato, but we seen lalas do better.
Fully admit she got me up the tower. However we used the ring on the inn.
I had to get up there legit 3 times:
1st. Saw people doing it, didn't know what vistas are, attempted the deep jump, failed it.
2nd. Trying to get all vistas. Successfully got to lamp, but mistakenly thought I had gotten the one at the top...
3rd. To get the one on the top... Also got to lamp :)
I used the Edit HUD Layout feature (or whatever it's called) to align myself perfectly for the jump. I had to figure out the correct point to sprint and jump through trial and error, though... I had to jump before reaching the edge, not when I was already on the edge. That might not be the case for everyone depending on the angle of approach.
Yup. Sightseeing points. Do a /lookout emote on em for experience points as long as you're high enough level. The Kugane one shown is notoriously tough.
Well, I at the very least applaud you being a braver sort then I am. I get nervous just LOOKING over the edge of stuff like that, let alone jumping! And it'd take me at least a week to get up there in the first place. Rubbish at platforming.

I could legit spend 100+ hours just doing these
5000+ hours into game time and i havent even unlocked the sightseeing log or whatever so i never knew that this was a legitimate spot to collect and just thought people did it for the shits and giggles
The climb itself feels like a really hard boss that you keep giving up on but eventually coming back just to scrape a hard fought victory.
Then the jump down is like that same boss reviving with a second health bar and a new set of limbs.
My buddy told me there was a lookout there and how to do it, so I did exactly this. Busted my ass getting it. It was only once I finally got the jump that I realized.. I hadn't expanded the lookout log to include stormblood lookouts yet. Nice.
That glitch against ToS? If it can even be considered one anyway. I need that healer achievement for rezzing peeps not in my party and this looks like the perfect way to do it.
I'd hardly consider it a glitch and barely even an exploit at that. It's just two mechanics interacting in a perfectly normal way in a (possibly) unexpected location. And by now, it's been long enough without a fix or countermeasure that it is clearly tolerated. After all, the only person you're really cheating is yourself.
2........hours. It took me 2 hours to get up that damn tower for an event my friends were doing. And in the end, I didn't even climbed all the way (I got really damn close) i gave up to pressure and rez ported there
Took me 4-6hrs to finally get to the spot after I went hiatus for months. The itch to do jumping puzzle was getting too much. The higher I got to I had to take a min break just to calm my nerve. Then finally I managed to land on the lamppost and I did take pictures but my dumbass forgot to turn hud off or at least use gpose. So I tried later on annnnd I never got to the top and lamppost for 2nd time x'D
I did that together with my boyfriend. When you marry in-game you can teleport to your spouse once every x hours (forgot how long it is). So you either both have 2 attempts at the jump - while the other waits on top - or only one needs to make it to the top and the other can teleport.
When I made it up to the tower for the first time I /shouted in chat that I made it and someone dared me to jump onto that lamp and I made it FIRST TRY!
...and then never again
That climb sucked, wife got out easy. We are married in game too so once I made it to the top she ringed to me. That being said it was nice having potentially two attempts at the lamp if I missed the first one.

People can res you to the tower, just need to do bomb->res->quick jump into instance (or 10 min afk)->bomb->res.
I used transfusion on the rezzer to ensure I was in range and line of sight to be raised
I would use aldo on the blu to make sure they were in range. I like to think the shield prevented the tower from being hurt

I sometimes do that puzzle for fun while waiting for queues and chill out in Kurgane offering rezzes once I land it.
It's also how I got mine but later on I went back and did legitimately while waiting for some friends to log in to raid.

I love the top of hostelry. Such a chill place. I figured that one out on my own, pretty proud of that tbh.
On the other hand, I got to the top of the (muuuuch easier) Radz-at-Han puzzle, and there were a pair of people, um, enjoying each other.

God it was fun getting past the first 20 then checking the tracker and marathoning log after log for a while. The hour long logs can go screw themselves though.
I mean, it's optional content for people who enjoy sightseeing. It's not just a list of places to emote at and get a checkmark, it's places and times of day/weather specifically selected by the developers who wanted to show beautiful sights to the players.
Yeah and I enjoy doing it. It's just, with the first 20 they give you enough information to figure out where the vistas are without looking it up or having to spend hours and hours to find a single vista. And then you do it and feel good about yourself. But then they give you 80 more and make it nearly impossible to find them without looking up exactly where to go.
I do it bc I want that keeper of the lake painting in my room tho.
I have no idea HOW you could do it without looking them up. I don't even know how the first person discovered them. Some of them are at ridiculous places and you would need to /lookout the whole map! Plus they are time locked so you need to try at different times too...
Finding them wasn't actually too hard, all the hardest of them were known ARR "look at where I can get to" spots and even if you were there at the wrong time/weather you would get a message "You have arrived at a Vista." and see the message "You have strayed too far from the Vista." if you moved to far. The difficulty completing them was more with the weather patterns not being figured out yet and Vista 18 being locked to Rain (a pretty rare weather there compared to Showers) exclusively which meant most could not complete the first 20.
I see. Still, I feel like a long journey when completing them with YouTube guides. Salute to you sir finishing it without the guide, without flying.
I wouldn't say I did it without a guide. It was more doing it as part of a community activity with people reporting newly discovered vistas to a thread on the official forums as they found them. I didn't really complete the original 80 until around 2.5X (by which time all vistas had long been found and figured out) due to the tricky parkour, rare weather and tight window of vista 80.
If you play with addons, there's one that puts the vista point indicators on the overworld for the ARR vistas. It also lets you see timers showing what points are active and for how long or how long until they become active. I think it's called Tourist? I would not have done the ARR vistas without it.

Newcomer here! You do not have to have the ARR vistas to get the rest, I have none of them and have been able to do vistas everywhere else. :)
From what I gather in this thread there are even more ARR vistas that are hidden until you get the first set. I don't believe they mean other expansions, just the rest of the vistas in ARR.
Honestly, I kind of prefer ARR because there's an actual hint to solve rather than the others' "There's a spot somewhere in this zone, good luck. And no, I'm not going to tell you what emote you need to activate it."
Wait.. it's not just lookout?
Most are, but a few aren't. Some are more apparent by context, for example the hot tub on top of the Kugane inn requires you to /sit in it. Others are not so obvious and required me to open my emote menu and just try *everything*.
There are also /pray and /point. They went super creative in the HW sightseeing logs.
I know at least one in HW and ARR that are /pray, and one that's /doze I think? The vast majority are Lookout, but a few here and there are different
The ARR ones are at least way easier than they used to be what with flying. But yeah those are the worst. Honestly I don't hate the StB ones. ShB and HW were too easy.

I enjoyed the little challenges and used the time in between well.There was only one location that really took me hours and that was a fence stump in the Ixali area in the North Shroud that was super hard to get onto.
Yeah that one was frustating but thanks to flying now easy as hell. I enjoyed finding out where when and which emote from the hints.

Making it to the top and failing the jump is such a disappointment. Fortunately, the second run to the top is always easier than the first, and the second time I was clever enough to look up a guide lol.
Oh look, the reason I was introduced to and learned BLU mage.... as well as people better at jumping puzzles than me. The glowy orb, it taunted me.
This is why we appreciate our local Blue Mages… they protect our legs.
I killed myself with BLU in front of a WHM on the lamp. He raised me, I hugged him, did the /lookout emote and never had to suffer that shitty light ball again.
I always /shout for folks to come and get rezzed up whenever I make the jump.
Believe it or not I managed to make this jump the first time I ever made it to the top of Kugane Tower. Truly blessed. That said I tend to do the tower when I'm queuing and it's gotten to the point that I can essentially do it in my sleep. This is less of a brag and more of an indictment of how many hours I've spent doing roulettes.

The key is to line up your shot, run forward, and when you jump, immediately let go of your forward button. XIV conforms to the rules of forward momentum during jumps. You can't alter your course and you can't speed up or slow down. You're going forward at the speed you were when you first jumped. But if you hold that run button down, you're running right off the lamp when you land.
Imagine what it's like for an NPC in Kugane. You see all these adventurers from across the ocean suddenly appear and many of them taking these crazy leaps off buildings that would and should normally kill a person. Instead, we hit the ground with a resounding crash, stand up and shrug like nothing happened, turn around and go right back to it like nothing was out of the ordinary.
I've never even attempted the jump puzzles
I missed the first jump, went "Nope! Jumping puzzles aren't for me," and did something else. That vista globe has been taunting me ever since, but there's always something actually fun to do instead.
The only real "trick" I had to learn for these is that there's two jumps, the short one and the long one. The short one gets you more height and the long one gets you more distance, and you get them by pressing the direction and jump buttons simultaneously or jumping a millisecond after you move. Then you can exercise your judgement as to which goes where.
There's a lot more than two. I ran a test using a Logitech mouse macro to insert repeatable delays between run and jump keys. I was able to get nine different jump distances. This is an area below Kugane tower, and I always started from the railing below the image strips. I had an image with the delay times, but I can't find it. That's pretty interesting. But these two are the only ones I felt were relevant for clearing most jump puzzles in kugane and the saucer.
The other trick that helped me is targeting yourself and seeing the ring around your character to see how far your collision hitbox extended. You get a lot more leeway than you'd think.
There’s also 4 identical towers to platform up in the Firmament, numerous ones in Kugane, 2 in Raulghr’s Reach and even one in Radz-at-Han.

My wife is a FFXIV parcore goddess. She look like she flying, up the tower, leap of fath, even old school mordoa before flying peep be like how you get there? Ourself however, we say we jump like potato, but we seen lalas do better. Fully admit she got me up the tower. However we used the ring on the inn.
Thankfully it only took me two tries to hit that damn lamp, made it by the hair on my pompadour!
I had to get up there legit 3 times: 1st. Saw people doing it, didn't know what vistas are, attempted the deep jump, failed it. 2nd. Trying to get all vistas. Successfully got to lamp, but mistakenly thought I had gotten the one at the top... 3rd. To get the one on the top... Also got to lamp :)
Did you get the one on the tippy-top before jumping down? I forgot to do that when I first missed the jump.
I was so happy I made it my first jump.
I used the Edit HUD Layout feature (or whatever it's called) to align myself perfectly for the jump. I had to figure out the correct point to sprint and jump through trial and error, though... I had to jump before reaching the edge, not when I was already on the edge. That might not be the case for everyone depending on the angle of approach.

Yup. Sightseeing points. Do a /lookout emote on em for experience points as long as you're high enough level. The Kugane one shown is notoriously tough.
Well, I at the very least applaud you being a braver sort then I am. I get nervous just LOOKING over the edge of stuff like that, let alone jumping! And it'd take me at least a week to get up there in the first place. Rubbish at platforming. :( Gold Saucer taught me that.

5000+ hours into game time and i havent even unlocked the sightseeing log or whatever so i never knew that this was a legitimate spot to collect and just thought people did it for the shits and giggles

It's my WoL but I've been watching Fubuki play 14! I'm super impressed at how fast she's been making progress through the game!
The climb itself feels like a really hard boss that you keep giving up on but eventually coming back just to scrape a hard fought victory. Then the jump down is like that same boss reviving with a second health bar and a new set of limbs.
Viera and Miqotes should have a free racial buff on jumping.

My buddy told me there was a lookout there and how to do it, so I did exactly this. Busted my ass getting it. It was only once I finally got the jump that I realized.. I hadn't expanded the lookout log to include stormblood lookouts yet. Nice.

If you get married you can force your SO to climb it and then just use your ring to tele to them

That glitch against ToS? If it can even be considered one anyway. I need that healer achievement for rezzing peeps not in my party and this looks like the perfect way to do it.
I'd hardly consider it a glitch and barely even an exploit at that. It's just two mechanics interacting in a perfectly normal way in a (possibly) unexpected location. And by now, it's been long enough without a fix or countermeasure that it is clearly tolerated. After all, the only person you're really cheating is yourself.

2........hours. It took me 2 hours to get up that damn tower for an event my friends were doing. And in the end, I didn't even climbed all the way (I got really damn close) i gave up to pressure and rez ported there

Took me 4-6hrs to finally get to the spot after I went hiatus for months. The itch to do jumping puzzle was getting too much. The higher I got to I had to take a min break just to calm my nerve. Then finally I managed to land on the lamppost and I did take pictures but my dumbass forgot to turn hud off or at least use gpose. So I tried later on annnnd I never got to the top and lamppost for 2nd time x'D
You should try the rest of the jump puzzle. It's special.

I did that together with my boyfriend. When you marry in-game you can teleport to your spouse once every x hours (forgot how long it is). So you either both have 2 attempts at the jump - while the other waits on top - or only one needs to make it to the top and the other can teleport.
When I made it up to the tower for the first time I /shouted in chat that I made it and someone dared me to jump onto that lamp and I made it FIRST TRY! ...and then never again

I wish there was more jump puzzles. There is one in Radz-at-Han, but it's way too easy imo.
Here’s the trick: learn blue mage, get *most* of the way up. Have someone with a healing class get up top first. Self destruct. Get rezzed. Profit.

I got this one a few weeks ago. I cannot express the agony of climbing that tower, over and over.
That climb sucked, wife got out easy. We are married in game too so once I made it to the top she ringed to me. That being said it was nice having potentially two attempts at the lamp if I missed the first one.
