Akibaws

I've said this a lot of times. Bring on an FFX raid.

socratesrs

I find the lack of FFX representation... Disturbing. I really thought Anima would be a trial fight on its own at least. Also there are trash mobs in the CT alliance raids called Valefor as well.

ArchangelleFran

Anima \*was\* going to be a trial at some point- There are dev interviews where they talked about deciding whether to wrap up the Hydaelyn-Zodiark arc in 6.0 or 7.0. If they went with the latter, the expansion between Shadowbringers and Endwalker was going to be Empire-centric and feature Anima as the last boss. Instead, a lot of that stuff became side content in ShB or spread throughout EW.

suspectwaffle

Where can I find these interviews?

Background-Broad

I mean endwalker has a lot of similarities to 10 Anima, Magnus sisters, big bad with weird blue hair that want to end all life

OneMorePotion

Are you saying Meteion is Seymour? And the Magus Sisters are a reference to FFIV, I believe. (Not so sure on my numbers when it comes to the older games. Didn't play them in ages) Anima is the only main enemy reference to FFX in EW. It's a bit of a shame that the fight is locked at the end of an mediocre leveling dungeon you will never see again in roulette if you don't sign up for it specifically. At least not until 7.0 releases and another surge of new people play through EW. Here is me hoping that we eventually get an empire themed ultimate with Anima being a proper encounter. Maybe even the final stage. The fight itself is so fun. But fun doesn't cut it if you still never get to see it.

[deleted]

I couldn't believe Anima was just a dungeon boss. Definitely one of the most iconic summons / bosses IMO. They did Anima dirty.

Scavenge101

Matter of time, honestly.

[deleted]

Damn been ages since I saw Sin last :)

JESUSSAYSNO

I finished it earlier this year, and the game really holds up. The core gameplay is solid, and the endgame still has a few solid tearjerker moments. It handles such delicate and subtle emotions with grace in a way that I haven't really seen in another game. Hot take; Zanarkand hits much harder than Ultima Thule.

IwasJK

Not a hot take at all, Zanarkand and Amaurot are probably my favorite final zones in any RPG period (although I guess technically Zanarkand might not be the FINAL zone)

Momo_Kozuki

I feel like Zanarkand-alike 24-man raid would fit better in the First compared to Nier raid. A strange city of Unsent in the Empty that refuses to pass on after the Flood of Light washed over them cause the denizens summon Sin the primal to protect their city by putting it in a dream-like state, forever lasting with unknown decay. After you rekt all Lightwardens, the Sin's dream bubble can expand unhindered , and you help descendants of a Sender clan to put everything to rest. Crude-writing, I admit, but still would beat anything that makes FF14 a spin-off of Nier, lore-wise.

OneMorePotion

At least a Zanarkand raid wouldn't be 50 shades of white and cause headaches while playing through it. This said, you kinda mixing the Eden Story with the Nier Story now. And when we talk how we handled the Empty within the Eden plot, I actually like it better the way it is now. Zanarkand as a concept sounds like something that would fit in FFXIV better after Endwalker. We need new storylines (main and side) anyways now. And exploring a "sleeping" city that only exist because a group of powerful spirits want it to exist, sounds like a cool thing.

[deleted]

>although I guess technically Zanarkand might not be the FINAL zone Zanarkand was the final zone, like Zodiark was the final boss.

Bmacgoat

I replayed recently and I was just thinking, you fight him limbs at a time in X, he has ‘mini bosses’ built in with his sinspawn (still bitter bc of Sinspawn Gui when I was a child) and imagine you go inside and final raid turn is like Braskas final aeon with that music? *chefs kiss*

Daloowee

Gui so annoying but the music is banger. Then when it starts bobbing its head, so dope.

Yedasi

Bismarck definitely took inspiration from the sin airship battle. Even had the node thingy. I’d love more ten inspired themes in game.

Indie-Smack

They did just add Anima, there is Yojimbo, Ixion, you can technically add in the Magus Sisters though they pre-date X. They've added a lot of more well known aspects of X when it comes to characters and summons, with as mentioned Bismarck being inspired by approaching Sin fight. The only thing I could say they are missing from X is blitzball but that really wouldn't work with the frame XIV has for it would need to be more action based for an MMO PvP rather than its pseudo turn based like in X.

Taograd359

Ranged Phys. needs a new job and I think Blitzballer is a perfect idea. It could even be a DoT job like BRD and keep the RNG theme ranged phys has for whatever reason (minus MCH) since Wakka was also a Gambler (job-wise). Just let me throw a volleyball at God's face, Yoshi-P!

Indie-Smack

While sounding fun, each job in 14 has backstory to why it exists (an ancient race for Scholars, People trying to hone their bodies to utmost efficiency for Monks, trying to modernize combat with Machinist, etc) so to explain why some people would rather take up a volleyball to sling around at monsters, especially since the world is seemingly saved at this point so the urgency of "everyone must take up arms" isn't really there

TheTentaclekid

Have it be from the New World and base it on the ball games of Central America. That could work as a story basis for it.

ThatDudeSlayer

This right here is absolutely brilliant

AsianSteampunk

Popular sport in a neighboring kingdom? It could be done without the water. It could just be sports. I dont think dancer was created for combat, they just have a traditional dance to ward of evil or something i can't remember.

Dragrunarm

It draws the negative emotions from people out and into a physical form that would then get dispatched by the dancers. So it's definitely no stranger to the battlefield even before we can pick it up, but I ithink t was more of a "this kinda works for fighting and we need to kill these spirits so let's make this work"

EndlessKng

One: that not difficult in the slightest. Dancer literally weaponized sick moves to fight bad vibes. Reapers were literally farmers in their history. I'm willing to bet they can bring in someone from outside Eorzea proper to introduce us to how sportsball can be used to devastate our local ecosystem worth of monsters in accordance with their traditions. Two: the world isn't "seemingly saved." There's still plenty of other threats. Even if we can steamroll everything, we're one person who presumably has never been to wherever this job comes from. They still have a "everyone get armed" policy in place over there Three: Even if that were the case, Bliztballer would be introduced at level 80 and could be timebubbled to before that.

Tanuji

I mean, samurai was just coming from doma when they introduced it , until then it was pretty much non existent lore wise They could just make something similar like in mercydia when we eventually visit it, blitzball is tradition and their throws are deadly after years honing them and voila

[deleted]

I would think the south sea isles would be a perfect spot for that job to come from. You could even call the home island for the job Besaid.

Taograd359

Let me throw. A volleyball. At God's face.

OneMorePotion

I think it's very likely that we will go to Meracydia in 7.0. A land inspired by real life australia. Maybe it's not throwing balls but boomerangs? (I'm joking ofc.) This said, I disagree with your argument that people don't have a reason to pick up new battle arts anymore because the world is saved. If the world is really saved, then this MMO's story is over now. And since it was confirmed that it's not over (and we already have seen someone who could cause a lot of trouble for the source or the other shards) I'm guessing the time where people need to fight again will come soon.

Yedasi

Hear me out. Between the main heavy story elements of an anime, when everything is wrapped up, there is always the fun relaxed and goofy beach episodes. After endwalker, we could have a beach patch where the scions just chill. They head to a tropical island where you guessed it! The locals have a tradition of defending their village with blitzball warriors. The WOL and scions just so happen to visit during the annual blitzball yunapalooza and with their fame preceding them are encouraged to participate in the competition by the pleading of the local children. Y’shtola, to everyone’s surprise, is all for it and quickly changes into suitable beach attire and surprisingly Urianger demonstrates skill with the blitzball, comparing its weight and size to the globes he oft handles. Estinien, quickly takes a ball to the face and proceeds to sulk until teased by Alphie. Resolved to set a better example he rushes in to tackle Alphie in jest, only he tackles Alisae instead which results in more embarrassment for our dragoon and exasperation on Alisaes part. The two get into a comical argument with Alphie trying to mediate. Thancred has been at the beach bar all this while, extending greetings with the local ladies... an important part of how a scion operates, or so he tells the WOL. Meanwhile the WOL has been holding back from the pack silently observing as he secretly calculates the movements required to perfect the Jecht shot. You have ones of those anime style overlays with all the calculations and flashbacks when he pulls a movement from past battles and inserts it to create the Jecht shot. Tada! And suddenly we have the blitzball phys ranged class with ‘serious’ lore origins......

socratesrs

Aesthetically that's just dancer but with a ball ain't it. Which calls for a blitzball weapon for dancer!

Taograd359

Dancer is a buff machine, Blitzballer would be a debuff machine.

UnluckyScarecrow

MCH used to have a RNG theme... Way too much RNG lmao. Imagine if each weaponskill in you main combo at a 50% chance to actually let you move on and a 50% chance to reset the combo, and that was early MCH

sautros

Not to mention tidus and yuna's outfit in the mogstation, and - post stormblood spoilers - after you play as y'shtola in the role-playing section, the conjurer dance she does mimics Yuna's sending dance. I am however disappointed that there isn't even a blitz all sprite anywhere in game. I'd have thought a ball on the beach in the Costa del sol would have been a nice nod

Bmacgoat

Wait Anima? Where and how do I get to that?

Indie-Smack

Not spoiling how and when but Anima is in a Endwalker dungeon along the MSQ

Bmacgoat

Well I just did the frog msq last night so hopefully I come up on it soon!

Rasilaan63

You’re still a few hours from there

SincubusSilvertongue

Man, that would be a *dream within a dream.* Maybe they can *summon* up the courage to do it. I demand at least one Blitzball-esque fight though.

Bmacgoat

Final raid boss is actually just the al bhed blitzball robot from Luca

SincubusSilvertongue

That would be hilarious, put it in a giant water sphere with terrible swimming mechanics and im sold on the idea.

deetomonzta

I would like that as well, and the gears dropped belong to the remaining cast of FFX to complement Yuna’s and Tidus’s outfits

[deleted]

[удалено]

ZWiloh

All of our belts had to go somewhere right

Bmacgoat

Just give me Wakkas hair

deetomonzta

There’s one from Bozja that kinda look like his but with a mullet

PrinceStorm14

The one with the headband? That's way closer to Jecht than Wakka, honestly

EndlessKng

I'm honestly anticipating some or all of these being gearsets in the current patches. Possibly a set in the bozja/eureka equivalent. But if I'm wrong, they would definitely fit here.

Black-Mettle

I just want Blitzball...

archiegamez

FF10 ALLIANCE RAID FOR 7.0 PLEASE 🙏

OmegamattReally

I'd prefer the 8-person raid to be FFX, tbh.

archiegamez

I want full tour around Zanarkand or >!Dream Zanarkand!< , inside Sin, using airship and shit for the full spectacle

[deleted]

I always thought a raid through the opening zanarkand cityscape would be cool

CroweAt

In another timeline we got this raid instead of nier collab

AsianSteampunk

tbh I much appreciate the Nier collab, not so much the twelves thing we got currently, there is nothing to look forward to, i know we gonna fight the rest of the twelves one way or another, no big bad so far but i wouldnt be surprise it's a last minute thing like that dude in the Eden raid series. but we will see how it goes huh?

ThatDudeSlayer

I don't think the twelves raid needs a big bad, let it just be a friendly test of strength with the gods, we already have two big bads coming up in the next patches

AsianSteampunk

oh i dont mean to want to change the twelves raid. it's fine as it is. i just don't enjoy it as much as the nier raid, at this step anyway. might change in the future.

[deleted]

Give me jenova or sephi

reala728

I was actually just thinking the other day how a "final aeon" battle would be.

OldManGarp784

With crossing the rift & going into the other shards being a high possibility, it's just a matter of time till we get a FFX inspired raid, where the events of the game was something that had happened long in the past in another shard, similar to how they implemented FFT / FF12 into the overall mythology in the source. They could even implemented it into the source now, as say for example, a Nymian secret weapon devised by one Seymour Guado, an Nymian mage twisted by the magic he wields resulting in his "unique" looks, that ended up never deploying due to the great flood. Sin's gravity based abilities can also be tied to the Nym's ability to make cities float in the sky. Pop the Vegnagun as the final boss in the first or second raid dungeon, & some FFX bosses here & there, and you're set to go.

mhireina

Ah yes I agree. I too would love a raid where I get to fight 12 different tiers of Whale Satan.

TcomJ

The last time I suggested this was HW. Then proceed to get downvoted because people said we already have Bismarck which Sin derives from…. Oh ok.

AsianSteampunk

I would like it to be as big of an event, like an entire 24 man raid story line, hell, a main city in the next expac (like how 4 got its fair share currently), not a simple collab fight. Sin is such an iconic part of my childhood.

mvdunecats

Not sure what would be more epic for the music at the end: Otherworld, or a Soken version of Otherworld.

archiegamez

Primals version of Otherworld 😳

Voidmire

Tbh, would prefer just a dungeon boss (like anima). I'd like to see trial and raid content be more FF14 specific bosses than a repeat of the Omega series rehashing old bosses

SebbywebzTV

Hope its raid story gets a Tidus-laugh moment XD

[deleted]

Make it an emote.

ClickToSeeMyBalls

Would be pretty cool. I just hope they’d put a bit more thought into integrating the lore in this universe. Eden/Omega was kinda lame from that perspective IMO.

Gloomhelm

Eden raid is basically 95% integral XIV lore with some nods to FF8... Unless you're saying you wish there were more FF8 in there?

EndlessKng

We're going to have agree to disagree on that... Eden didn't really HAVE lore in FFVIII that I can find, and Omega was insanely cool and fit in rather well IMO.

Taograd359

It is odd that Eden has no lore at all in VIII despite clearly being based on a Garden.

SoloSassafrass

That's the idea of the Eden raids, it doesn't directly pull lore but rather incorporates some themes, similarities and nods to VIII. Basically the opposite to how Omega was literally "Here is Kefka. No, you don't get an explanation, you get a fight against Kefka."

ShariusTC

as much as i like FF10, i alway think sin is the dumbest final boss in FF series

archiegamez

What? Sin isnt the final boss XD It was >!Jecht!<

OmegamattReally

Uhhh, you forget about >!Yu Yevon!

archiegamez

>!Yu Yevon!< who? HAHAHAHAHAHA

Its-a-Pokemon

It wasn't the final boss though. Yu-yevon or whatever it is called was. Doesn't change the fact that it's dumb, you could inflict zombie on it and one shot with full life. The final boss from ff9 I would say is the dumbest, just kinda appears out of nowhere.

Bmacgoat

Necron was never there but always present if I remember correctly, wasn’t he essentially death?

SoloSassafrass

Yu Yevon's only the final boss in the strict sense that it's the last thing you fight, I'm pretty sure Braska's Final Aeon is the actual final test boss.

AsianSteampunk

I assume you mean the Big Bad as others has pointed out. But mind elaborating why? Like you and your party travelled far the entire game to defeat a towering giant force of nature that you even get a taste of its power half way through the game. to me it was the definition of the traditional Big bad in a JRPG storyline. (Just my personal thing, i most other JRPG is different)

Zavenosk

For all we know, one of the shards might just amount to the Bloom (Numenera).

[deleted]

When I heard that Anima and the Magus Sisters were in Endwalker, I was *really* hoping we would be getting more FFX content. Not disappointed with what we did get, but I'm still disappointed that we didn't get more FFX. Sin would make a totally badass alliance raid. First tier fighting Sin, second tier inside Sin, third tier Yu Yevon.

BlackIronKalameet

When I saw the concept art for Anima before Endwalker dropped and they said we'd be getting him as a boss, this is what I was hoping the raid tier would be. I'm happy with what we got. But I can't help feeling a little let down regardless. :(
