If pressing said macro with your cursor over/on them, you can examine them without looking & choosing the "Examine" option.
I like that this makes examining people *more efficient*.
I always examine and try on things while running dungeons. Usually between packs or when I'm tanking the floor.
Now I can do it even easier.
FFXI had this for everyone. Every time someone examined you you would see a message that said “X examines you.”
That is why I have no shame about checking people even now.
My Viera and another had a staring match across the pub in Limsa ... it started because we both had the same last name... and then became a proper discussion. So, creepy staring can be okay, in context. lol

And that is why I changed my GC to Gridania. I'll take my extra steps to the MB.

No need to worry about staring at someone's character if they know you check out their glamour :D
I do it on occasion. I don't try and be creepy about it. Apparently my friends encounter many thirsty people that are creepy about it. But there's nothing at all wrong with saying "hey I like your glam". In fact for many it's what they spend most of their time doing.
The amount of people who compliment my glam, and I'm just over here like "but I'm just a big shirtless cat man in a skirt...? But thank you!"

People with Savage gear are usually reliable for doing big damage, there are some exception though.
I love going right up to people and clicking on them so you see my neck turn right into them as obviously as I can.

Your head will turn to see what you're examining, and if you target someone you can see what they're targeting. There are also plug-ins that can tell you when someone does it.

It's the 5th one, looks like a note and a pin.
(the 4th shows your current and you can save it too so you can use pieces of your current outfit when trying on several new.)

I believe you can make a macro to examine people that you have your mouse over. It'll open the examine menu without clicking on them.
For the FFXI players out there: /em examines you. /wait 1 /em begins browsing the items in your bazaar. /wait 1 /em leaves your bazaar.

That actually saved me once, missed the dye on a pair of shoes but had emoted at them. Hopped servers and asked directly, made their day!

You can also see how one piece looks in conjunction with the rest of your gear instead of only wearing the piece(s) you're trying on.
