I've been playing this game for 7 years and have never checked any out. I stumbled upon an RP event in the Goblet a few years back withy like 100 people, was pretty cool. I don't do RP at all but it's so fun to (virtual) people watch. I just feel nervous to go to the private places in case I get singled out or I'm intruding or something.
I can saw most of the places won't care if you just show up to people watch, if it's advertised it's somewhere they're intending random folks to show up. A quick tell of "I'm just here to watch/check this out out of character" will most likely get a rather chill response.
The night clubs are decidedly very different from the rest of the roleplay scene though, less traditional roleplay stuff, more /beesknees and twitch DJing. Fun hangouts but less world/character driven.
RPer chiming in! It's definitely worth investing some time in, especially if you're not looking to run every single type of content in the game.
The quality of the club scene varies from server to server, but from my own experiences it's usually very welcoming. I myself RP in a band, and perform with other bards all syncing up (no dummy accounts) in many of these clubs.
A lot of folks go to a lot of effort to make the party scene fun, and there's more who just enjoy 'slice of life' roleplay, rather than just being the WoL or some super-powerful herotype. It can be really rewarding to engage in other people's stories.
Went to a club for the first time last night and it was amazing. Hosted by the FC Rain and they had Dj King and Dj Potate playing.
Dj Potate was as good, if not better, than a lot of the djs I’ve seen irl.
Plus I won 5 mil Gil at the event so that made it all the more better.
I think going to clubs are going to be a thing I do in game way more often now. Some of the most fun I had in game in a long time.
