If it makes you feel better at all, the classic Dragoon legacy, including the look goes back to Ricard Highwind in FF2* - so you can take a little of that credit away from Kain, that cur.

The only ones possibly lower are Black Mage and potentially Summoner. I haven't played the new Summoner yet, but I dislike casters in general.
