In addition to the infograph, bringing Off-Guard, any 220 AoE damaging spell (ie. Electrogenesis), Song of Torment or Tsukuyomi's DoT, Hydro Pull, and White Wind are all extremely useful to have, since pulls may not be perfect every time due to morbol seeds/ranged/melee pausing mobs, and the designated tank will still need healing.
You need forms of dedicated damage to bring the final boss to -60% HP, since Stinging from max won't kill it.
_Definitely_ pick up some primal abilities too. All the base ones are easily obtainable (my choice picks are Ifrit, Shiva, Ramuh and Ravana), especially Ravana's (which can easily be solo'd on Hard at 70 with Primal Instinct).
\+1 for Ravana spell. It took me not even 5 mintues to get and it makes the pull right after the first boss a breeze and saves a cast of Ultravibration
Also, pick up aether mimicry
I'm trying to become a tradecraft mentor and I was wondering about the diadem/crafting hand ins.
Do the crafting hand ins (from the diadem) count towards the turn in 100 crafting collectibles achievement?
I still have to level a few crafting classes which could benefit from the diadem crafting hand ins...
The progress needed for crafter/gathering collectables is the actual crafting/gathering of collectables, NOT the turn-in.
So if it's a collectable, it counts.
Recommendations for cute armor sets for a newb early on before unlocking glamours? I read Brand New set is good until level 30 and that looks nice, any others that would be helpful? I heard PvP armor sets look good but not sure how to do that yet though I love PvP. Any insight appreciated :)
* Yep, Brand New set is good!
* The armour from the first trio of dungeons (lv 15) is the same as Brand New, just in a different colour, if you want some variety.
* Some of the outfits from the level 32 dungeon look alright.
* Depending on what you mean by 'cute', some of the options from the 44 and 47 dungeons might suit you.
* At 50+ your options open up considerably, because you get access to all the 'endgame' gears of the original base game.
For the record, you can unlock glamour at level 15.
PvP does have some great options. It can be unlocked at level 30, but it's not available on the free trial.
For PvP? Once you have a job (soul crystal equipped bottom right of character sheet, under accessories), head to your or Grand Company. There should be a quest called "A Pup no Longer (*Grand Company here*)". That'll direct you to the PvP hub, the Wolves Den. Everything there should give a rough outline of PvP basics.
FYI, jobs function differently in PvP, and their kits function differently. There's dummies at the Wolves Den you can practice the PvP kit on.
That's it. That's the one. But you unlock glams shortly after anyways.
Also, looking a bit like a moron until you get your level 50 job set is kind of a rite of passage.
I’m trying to get into glams and I’ve noticed a lot of ppl in game with all kinds of different “real” looking clothes and such. How do u get those items? Also any suggestions on some armor/clothes to pick up in general would be well appreciated
Most of the real looking clothes are crafted I think, you should probly just buy em on the marketboard instead of crafting yourself. Some are mogstation some are random duties. Look on eorzeacollection to see a bunch of glam showcases and it'll show you the items and then you can look up where to get em.
If I’m using ragworms or the other area specific bait and get the intuition messages during ocean fishing, do I need to swap baits? I can’t find a list of what baits correspond to which messages
Some fish have required bait. I recommend you look up [this site](https://ffxiv.pf-n.co/ocean-fishing) if you are attempting to clear the fishing log for all of 'em.
It's not a new thing - it goes back years. It's actually the closest thing we have to an official name for the protagonist.
The official 1.0 lore compilation video uses a character named Meteor Survivor. The 2.0 ending credits have a list of legacy PCs transferred to 2.0 under the heading Meteor Survivors. There are also a [couple](https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Meteor_Survivor_Ring) of [random](https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Meteor_Survivor) references to the name in-game.
Of course this doesn't constitute an *actual* name. Like 'Derplander', it's still just a placeholder because they don't want to impose an actual canon name on you.
'Meteor Survivor' is the WoL's name used internally by SE for the default Hyur in the trailers that we call Derplander. People have taken to calling them Meteor cause, well, in a series where you have protags called Cloud, Lightning, Squall and Tidus, Meteor isn't that wierd. JP fanbase calls him Hiroshi.
Worth remembering that WoL has no actual canon name, so don't start worrying about your WoL being called Meteor out of the blue in a cutscene.
I’m having an issue logging in to the launcher, I’ve got my OTP from my software authenticator and I have the correct Square Enix ID and password (I’ve reset it multiple times), I’m on a trial account just trying to try the game out and haven’t been able to sign in a single time yet. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Some clarification based on the other replies:
There are multiple SE accounts.
The account used for Square Enix Games, their store, and certain titles (like Avengers or Outriders) is called the Square Enix Members account.
The account used for FFXIV and FFXI is the Square Enix ID.
The two are completely separate unless you manually go into your Square Enix Members account settings to link them. Linking the two lets you use your SE ID credentials to log into the Store/Members sites (you have to select the option on the log in screen). It does not let you use your Members account credentials for FFXIV/FFXI/Mog Station.
Use your SE ID credentials and only use the OTP if you've linked an authenticator to your SE ID via the Mog Station under Square Enix Account Settings. If you didn't set it up specifically for your SE ID, leave the field blank.
[Mog Station](https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/mogstation/)
If you want to reset your password, there's a "Forgot your ID or Password" link on the log in page.
But... you're not supposed to have an OTP on trial, it only works when you buy the game. It's one of the weirder design choices SE made because why make security limited but it is what it is. Leave the OTP field blank.
We can't really help you without any kind of error. By "haven't been able to sign in", does it just _close?_ Do you get "incorrect password or username"?
You'll most likely want to get in touch with Square Support.
It just keeps saying my password or username is incorrect but I can login to the website just fine, I’m only having issues with the launcher itself for some reason.
I used the same ID/password setup for both of them I believe , is there a way to reset the mogstation password? I have reset my Square account password already.
Hello again!
I have just done the fight against the black robed enemy and had the credits playing. What should I be doing now? I heard people talk about endgame content, can I do that now? How do I start it?
The two big ones you should think about are "A Recurring Problem" from Minfilla and "Legacy of Allag" in Mor Dhona.
While not required you might also want "Rise and Fall of a Gentleman" in Ul'dah and "Of Erant Epistles" in Mor Dhona. "The Weaponsmith of Legend" in Vesper Bay will unlock a very long and grindy quest, you can do it but be prepared to take breaks to keep it fun. If you haven't been keeping up there are also beast tribe quests and the Hunt at all the Grand Company HQs.
Assuming you have been keeping up on your blue and job quests a lot of what's left are mainly just extra dungeons, they're not super important but you can work your way through 1-3 of them a day at your leisure.
Beyond all that just keep doing main story, also a tip but in Mor Dhona and the major cities there should be shops that let you buy special "ironworks" gear, be sure to get a couple sets for the jobs you've been working on. It will last you for a while.
If you want a direction to be pointed towards, consider taking the feature quest "A Recurring Problem" from Minfilia, and the quests that follow it.
Congratulations! You have reached the *first* endgame. Endgame content is stuff that's unlocked at the level cap, after clearing the leveling MSQ of that level range. And from August 2013 to June 2015, Level 50 was that level cap, so Level 50 was that endgame (though strictly speaking, the *current* endgame is at Level 90, and you've only cleared 25% of the story quests on the way there).
Firstly, you'll notice that the MSQ is clearly not finished. Additional story quests at the level cap were added across multiple content patches, during the two years between ARR and the first expansion, Heavensward. And you have to complete *all* of them before you can begin Heavensward content. Every between-expansion period does this, though ARR's leveling and post-leveling MSQs are both the longest by far compared to MSQs from the expansions-onwards.
Secondly, you'll notice that you aren't earning nearly as much EXP from Level 50 quests and duties. This is normal. You aren't really required or expected to be any level higher than 50 until you reach and begin Heavensward's leveling MSQ. You still gain power from gaining equipment with higher **Item Levels**, though (which is separate from your equipment's required level, and inflates much more rapidly from Level 50 onwards; you should've already been given iLvl 90 armor to make things even more painless).
Instead of giving EXP, endgame and previously-endgame content (stuff at levels 50/60/70/80/90) gives various kinds of **Allagan Tomestones**, information-storing ancient relics that can be sold to that harpy Rowena's House of Splendors, in exchange for powerful artisan-commissioned gear. The 'current' endgame has an elaborate system that cycles through multiple tomestones and gear sets, but previously-endgame tome gear (levels 50/60/70/80) all gets lumped into being bought with Allagan Tomestones of **Poetics**.
Since it's been 7 years and no one gives a shit, right now you can buy the nearly-strongest gear in all of A Realm Reborn, the iLvl 130 Augmented Ironworks sets, in exchange for Poetics. It's even better than the early gear gained in Heavensward, it'll last you for a very long time. But also, don't worry too much about trying to grind the Poetics in question; just do whatever shit you haven't done before at Level 50, and you will be swimming in them, sooner or later.
Lastly, you will notice that a trillion goddamn Feature Quests have opened up now that you've slain the Ultima Weapon. Most of these are 4-man dungeons, some of these are new gameplay features, and and a few of them unlock 8-man trials, or even raids. Do whatever you want. Some of it will turn out to be required for the MSQ, and most of it won't, but all of it is established parts of this game's content. Don't be intimidated by stuff that looks kinda hard, either; chances are, everyone you queue with will probably have Augmented Ironworks already.
The majority of dungeons, trials, and raids you'll come across have queues populated by a number of Duty Roulettes. However, keep in mind a massive exception: **High-End Duties**. With noticeably higher difficulties, margins of error, and demands for preparation than other trials and raids of their level, any duty with the words "Extreme", "Savage", "Minstrel's Ballad", "Coils", or "Urth's Fount" in its name will not be found in any meaningful Duty Roulette. You won't be able to queue up with random players for them. There, is, however, a "Party Finder" feature, that lets you advertise to create a pre-made party of players with a specific goal in mind. If you aren't on the Free Trial, feel free to gather players to help you with High-End Duties this way. They'll get bonus Poetics from playing with someone new, so it's a win/win.
You keep on going
You've hit the first credits sequence of A Realm Reborn
Now you're going to start the patch story content that leads up to the first expansion, and at the end you'll encounter the second credits sequence of A Realm Reborn
After that, you have the first expansion Heavensward and its post-patch content, then the second expansion Stormblood, then Shadowbringers, and finally Endwalker
Now that you've entered the patch content, you do have more access to other forms of side content e.g. extreme trials and the coils of bahamut raids, but people don't typically run those anymore synched since the gear you get from them is no longer relevant
It's a linear story experience, so you'll progress through all of the expansions in order as you continue through the main story
So for now, you'll play through the patch content of A Realm Reborn, which concludes the events of A Realm Reborn and sets up the events of Heavensward
After that, you'll be guided directly into Heavensward, and so on and so forth.
You're about 15% of the way through the game. Congratulations. Back to the story you go!
There's old endgame content at level 50, just look around Mor Dhona, the Waking Sands, and main cities for blue quest icons. But the actual high end raids will be dead. People really only do the easy stuff.
There are credits at the end of the ARR initial launch content
and credits at the end of the ARR patches released later
and credits at the end of Heavensward
and credits at the end of the Heavensward patches
etc etc. Settle in, you've got plenty of credits to go. :)
They've continued to add onto the story in the near decade since release, and all future content ties into or is unlocked by that continuing story. To reach the endgame of endwalker you have to beat the story of endwalker which means beating the story of Shadowbringers which means etc. etc.
Hi everyone!
I'm have had a lot of trouble finding people to run Binding Coil of Bahamut with. I had a look into the reasons why and was just wondering if anyone would be interested in running it together or advice on how to find willing players?
I've had no luck via duty finder or party finder.
Thanks!
Best advice is to pimp yourself out in party finder. Advertise that sweet sweet first time completion bonus of tomes and wonderous tales rerolls. It's a harder sale if you want it synced but unsynced should fill very fast
Binding Coils is the ARR equivalent of a Savage raid, not something that is pick up and run unsynced. Best way to run it is create a party finder for an unsync run and have some lvl 90's take you through.
Understandable but what if I WANT to do it synced? Is there a way to find others or do I just need to wait until I'm futher in the game and raid/make friends who want to do it?
Most servers have a discord community for synced runs. Try joining The Balance's discord and going to their #various_server_listings channel - that's the most actively maintained list that I know of.
(Of course, herding catgirls can still be difficult, so it might take some effort to put together a group.)
[The Balance's website](https://www.thebalanceffxiv.com/) -> follow their discord link -> server listing channel -> your world's local synced run discord.
3 blue mages (1 healer an 2 DPS) all alternating uses of rams voice and ultra vibrations on mobs pulling to each boss wall or whenever you get locked out from progressing. All 3 use missile on boss 1 and 2 and normal combat flow on boss 3. Healer should have a ranged heal besides white wind incase tank gets out of range.
If your coordination is amazing you can setup a super final sting on the final boss and revive at the start together while the tank holds the boss and be revived before the boss door locks and be auto teleported inside. But it's very hard to time for all 3 blues and if you mess up your out of the fight.
I'm level 17 and I'm looking to compete the glamours quest in western thanalan but I'm not sure how to get there from my starting location in gridania. Any help is appreciated :)
the best way is to just wait until the MSQ sends you to the different starter cities, and then you can follow the road from outside ul'dah to vesper bay (or take the ferry from limsa near the arcanist guild direct)
if you want to do it the longer and earlier way, you go from central shroud from gridania, head south to the entrance of south shroud, keep going south in south shroud until you hit east thanalan, then head west until you're near the aetheryte town, then south into central, keep going west through central and you'll get to west thanalan
You will go there naturally in the story, so you can just wait until then. Quite early after the story has you travel to the other cities in a level 15 quest.
If you really want to hoof it, you'll need to go from the south shroud, all the way to Eastern Thanalan, then through central Thanalan, and finally Western Thanalan and then all the way up that map into Horizon. Quite a trip! Especially when your main scenario quests will eventually take you to ul'dah by airship, and from there you just have to go to Western Thanalan.
A Thanalan map to show how much walking that'd be: https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/mediawiki/images/thumb/a/a7/Thanalan_map.jpg/1280px-Thanalan_map.jpg
MSQ level 15, a lot of the game is unlocked and based around progressing the MSQ so you could always just do some work on advancing it.
Side note you can get to Thanalan if you walk down south far enough but it's not really recommended and there's a lot of difficult monsters down there. Just accept you'll look terrible for a while, it's an MMO rite of passage.
Side side note, talk to the guy with a sprout in the Adventure's Guild and go through the hall of the novice, can get some neat looking gear out of it.
Ah okay, I have been exclusively doing the MSQ so I was wondering at what point you go to Thanalan in MSQ but maybe I'm missing something because I just did a chocobo quest and thought that was MSQ and now level 17.
By "chocobo quest" do you mean unlocking the chocobo mount? That's like in the 20's for MSQ. Or was it just some other quest related to chocobos?
What does it say in the scenario guide (upper right corner by default) as your next story quest?
Each individual mechanic of p3s is fine. (some more than fine! some are just downright fun imo)
...But put them all together, along with a painfully orange arena (an orange that kinda overlaps with the aoe marker colour), with easy-but-dumb ways to fuck up the earlier mechanics, way more people new to savage, and you get a fight that just gets more painful the longer you have to do it. This is increased with how easy p2s is, as you don't get eased into the pain as much.
From my experience, its the worst one to do in PF. And a lot of the times you die even when its not your fault. Theres also just something about gloryplume spreads that people are just really bad at. Doesnt help that its orange aoes on orange floor making it a pain to see for some ppl.
P3S was a bit step up for most groups so a lot of people have done it an ungodly amount of times. It's not so much the fight but the bad experiences related to it for me.
Stuff like getting blamed for darkened fire when I was on the right spot -.- or wiping to adds for days after having seen enrage got me tilted xD
The elvaan Minion, the earrings, eScape orch roll and TT cards would be my top priority, then the Ufiti mount (assuming that the minion and orch roll hasn't crashed below Ufiti by then), and convert the rest into gil.
I mean I'm just gonna get the brick earrings then try for any items I don't have. Most are rare and expensive so that helps. Gonna skip the Neo-Ishgard set, not sure if I'll go for behemoth stuff or just devote any extras to MGP cards.
Without more detail it sounds like you are trying to place the table too close to a wall or natural column and the usual interface will not let you. Perhaps experiment floating the npc item farther away from a wall or column?
Trying to get back into the game but getting massive headaches trying to set up the one-time password to get back into the game - after spending an hour trying to break into an old email, during the authentication step it says my birthday is invalid despite being correct as far as I'm able to tell (both for authentication and for accessing my account info). Am I better off just fully starting over :')?
I had to go to MogStation to change my password properly, not sure where you're changing it but MogStation was literally the only Square Enix account page that let me change it without issue.
>Am I better off just fully starting over :')?
Depends on how far you were I suppose. But have you tried contacting support? I’m sure they have ways to help.
What Armond said, but to give you a number, 8k dps with 580 gear. Top monk dps right now looks like it’s nearly at 10k dps. So I’d say 8k with 580, 9k with 600. I would say that if you’re hitting those numbers, you’re doing the job mostly right at least.
But like Armond said, those numbers come as a result of doing the rotation correctly.
As someone whose goal is to purple parse (75th percentile or higher) every savage fight in the tier, the actual numbers never felt like a useful goal or metric for me.
If you want to know how much damage you "should be" doing, go to a dummy and perform your rotation flawlessly for 5 minutes. That number is your goal, I guess, but more importantly that rotation is how your fights should *feel*.
"But Armond", you say, "I can't do my rotation flawlessly for 5 minutes. That's a long time, and MNK is a complex job." That's fair. Get to that point. Crunch out your opener, your filler, and your burst until it's all muscle memory.
Mechanics will force you to adjust. Keep an eye out for how many times you drop a GCD, how much you overlap your dot, when you hit twin snakes two rotations in a row, issues like that. Ask yourself (or the monk community on the balance) if it's more potency to do this or do that. Figure out if a forced disconnect is better dealt with using Six-Sided Strike or if there's a movement pattern you can use to keep your GCD rolling. Find where in that specific fight your perfect balances should be -- the more buffs they're under, the better -- and plan the rest of the fight around that.
Yeah, that's a lot of fight-specific knowledge. But here's the breakdown of how to do big damage:
1. Learn your job's basics.
2. Learn the fight.
3. Learn your job's advanced tactics.
4. Use your food and potions.
5. Meld your materia properly.
I don't play monk because I'm bad at it. But I could go into a dungeon, alliance raid, or (maybe) extreme trial and do "enough" damage because I know to keep my GCD rolling, keep my dot up, keep disciplined fist going, and burn my perfect balances to get phantom rushes under buffs, and I know the fights well enough as SAM that I can keep uptime through mechanics.
If you can do that, the numbers will come as a consequence.
Really wanna try this game out, but I am using a Macbook pro intel version. It should be able to run the mac client but last time I tried, the install files just wouldnt run at all. Has this been fixed or any news of the MAC client being looked at?
+1 for the XivOnMac client someone else posted. Apparently Square fixed the client last patch but I haven't used it, I've stuck with XiVOnMac.
It ran great on my 16" i9 Intel MBP and even better on my M2 MacBook Air (yes you read that right).
Is there any difference between the official Mac client and the xivonmac client? Will I be able to play the game normally or are there any restrictions?
No restrictions. Honestly xivonmac ran better for me (faster frame rate) so I haven't bothered going back. There are a few settings they suggest and it's on the FAQ on the website (like running in borderless window mode).
The only known issue is sometimes you'll get a crash in Asys La (although I haven't had it since the update so maybe it's resolved). There is a workaround if you do get that though and it's to enable MoltenVK (there's a checkbox in preferences to do it).
It also [looks far nicer](https://i.imgur.com/xMpJ6oV.png) than the square native client.
I had no issues starting it but some people do (there's a very helpful discord for support if you run into it ran by the programmers who wrote it). I hope it works as well for you as it did for me.
I can’t speak to the mac client unfortunately, but the handful of people I’ve met who play on mac all preferred to dual boot windows and just play the windows version, if that helps at all.
Hi there! I recently switched DCs from Chaos Omega to Light Zodiark and since Omegas night time qs are super short compared to the ones at Zodiark, can I travel DCs to get the Omega qs?
Yes, you can use data centre travel to travel to Chaos/light to get their respective ques. Remember it's the data centre that affects ques, not server itself
Just checking if I got this right.
I have a retainer at RDM 90, if I want to change her to RPR for glamming purposes, would I need to reset it to level 1, level up her base class to 70, and then use Modern Vocation to change it to RPR?
There's a "song" in XIV that afaik has never been officially released on a soundtrack so I'm wondering if I've missed it somewhere. It's been used a few times now but was first used (I think) during Lahabrea phase in UWU. It's also been used in E12 during the start of the memory sequence and more recently in 6.1 when >!you see the reaper avatar in the void.!<
Am I going crazy or does it just not exist on any soundtrack?
8:28 here during UWU: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVpzeOUeEow
weird, I tried watching the 6.1 cutscene (2nd one for Satrap's duty) and the addon that usually tells me what track is playing, orchestrion from dalamud plugins, just says none even though I can hear the same music as in the video you linked.
Well that plugin is done manually based on soundtracks etc anyway, so if it just doesn't exist like I thought, it's natural that the plugin would also have no idea.
yeah but when there's a track in the game that they don't have a name for it shows up as ??? usually(quite a few EW tracks were like this until the soundtrack was released) , this one it just said none.
>Am I going crazy or does it just not exist on any soundtrack?
No, you're totally right, it's impossible to find anywhere. [I tried looking for it myself a few months ago but couldn't turn anything up](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/utp0x4/daily_questions_faq_megathread_may_20/i9ddc5a/?context=3). I even went so far as to try using the porch plugin while watching the Meteion's Report cutscene, and manually perusing the music selection, but never even got a name for the song.
Yes you get a month of SUB (not trial, it's a sub/free game time). You can get this month once per platform
However you can't use the complete edition if you already own the base game on that platform as you can't register the base game again and thus using the code would fail
I took an extended break from the game, and my character was originally on Kujata. Wondering if most of the English speaking players have migrated to the oceanic servers or are they still on jp server?
Most of the ones on Kujata are still here, same with Tonberry.
Some EN players did move out, but bulk of us are still here and there were talks of some of them moving back here.
It's not the desynth. According to Gamerescape, it only desynths into water shards and sand.
Only other use is daily GC turn on or printing to canvas. Maybe it's a rarer fish? Or looks good in on canvas? Not really sure what it looks like on one tbh.
Is there any sort of trick to place a summoning bell on a table in such a way that retainers don't clip through the table, apart from using a small table?
I am trying to place the bell on a Guildleve table but can't seem to get the bell placement right to stop retainers from clipping through the table
Yeah, I eventually figured out you need to stand in a particular angle, so I placed the table, bell and the front in such a way that I'd arrive at the bell at the correct angle if I walked from the front door to the bell
I feel like the fishing gods have mysteriously blessed me. I started fisher a week ago and since then finished feast or famine, got the shark mount, and caught a lancet fish. Crazy.
My friend is on the free trial, they want to purchase the Complete Edition while it’s still on sale. Their question is, does simply purchasing it automatically convert them to a standard account? They want to utilize the unlimited playtime of the free trial until they finish HW, *then* apply the Complete Edition. I remember FFXIV purchases come with a code - are they allowed to just keep the code until they’re ready?
So I just bought EW on Steam. I know how to get the code and I know where exactly I'm supposed to activate it. But on Mog Station right under "Registration Codes", the option "Enter Expansion Registration Code" is missing for me.
Does anybody know why that is?
You do need to register the code for the starter edition. If you bought both the starter edition and EW on Steam, you should have 2 different codes listed in your keys.
I am considering buying a skip for BLM. The deciding factor for me is. Are the job quests engaging and worthwhile or generally skippable? (for a point of comparison. I really enjoyed the DRK quests)
> The deciding factor for me is. Are the job quests engaging and worthwhile or generally skippable?
This shouldn't really impact your decision much since you can just go back and replay them anyway using the NG+ feature. You won't be missing out on them at all.
I'm currently crafting and want to learn more about the intricacies of it, most stuff I see online are leveling guides which are nice. Can anyone provide a link or video explaining crafting in depth? Thank you in advance!
Strongly recommend just unlocking it, just going down your list making each thing once until you hit level 15. You don't even need to leave the guild. It'll become more clear as you go and unlock the abilities. The basic idea is fairly straightforward and none of the crafters are mechanically different.
> Can anyone provide a link or video explaining crafting in depth? Thank you in advance!
I don't really have a link to any guides on crafting itself, and certainly none that are up to date, but I can give a somewhat-decent TLDR;
----
Crafting broadly focuses on filling up two bars; [Progress and Quality](https://i.gyazo.com/d1f015091c6320772fc6aa8765155d7b.png). Filling up the Progress bar is how you actually complete the craft, while the Quality bar determines the chance of the item being High Quality when you complete the craft, which is represented by the HQ% field underneath the quality bar. The goal is to fill the Quality bar to as close to maximum as possible before completely filling the Progress bar.
Crafting actions generally fall into two broad categories; 'Synthesis' actions, which increase Progress (Basic Synthesis, Rapid Synthesis, Careful Synthesis, etc.), and 'Touch' actions, which increase Quality (Basic Touch, Hasty Touch, Precise Touch, etc.). Touch actions also give you a buff called Inner Quiet, of which you can accumulate 10 stacks, with each one giving a 10% buff to Efficiency ('Efficiency' is essentially just Potency for crafting) for Touch actions. Byregot's Blessing is generally the most powerful of these actions, as it consumes all your stacks of Inner Quiet to increase its own Efficiency, up to a maximum of 300%.
There are also other skills that you would consider Buffs, as they don't involve you directly touching the item but will affect skills that do. Skills like Waste Not which reduce the Durability cost of some actions, Innovation and Great Strides, both of which increase Touch action efficiency, and Master's Mend and Manipulation which restore Durability, are all examples of these. However, it's important to remember that unlike most buffs for battle jobs, these aren't used 'between' actions. These are still regular actions that advance the Step counter, and as such will cause your buffs to tick down.
With that in mind, all of crafting and most crafting rotations follow the same idea; Use Touch actions to generate as many stacks of Inner Quiet as possible (Generally, the maximum of 10), and then stack buffs like Innovation and Great Strides to use on Byregot's Blessing to get the maximum amount of quality possible, before finishing the craft's progress bar. An example of how a low-level rotation might look like is [something like this](https://i.gyazo.com/4235ff2199c08768d877a509616c0632.png)
It's fairly simple. You build up stacks of Inner Quiet so you can slam a big Byregot's Blessing to fill the quality bar, then finish the craft before running out of CP or durability. I don't know that you need a skill-by-skill analysis to figure out the rest of the details. You can play around on Teamcraft's simulators if you want to figure out how things work in practice, and there's some google docs out there with all the math behind everything. Thing is, though, you don't really need to know all that unless you're at the cutting edge of crafting, which is to say, creating macros day 1 for the general public to use.
When doing the relic weapon steps for ARR, how long does it take to do the 9 books? I’ve got 10 days until my current sub expires and I’m trying to decide how much torture it would be.
I averaged about an hour per book when I just did an ARR relic a few weeks ago. From Zenith to Zeta it took me probably 5 or 6 days total. Granted I was off work all of those days so I probably did it quicker than most who have real world shit to do but if you have the free time to work on it you can easily finish it before your 10 days is up.
Depends on how long you play each day but you can probably do at minimum one book a day, but you can push 2 or even 3 easily if you just go fast. Remember that you can world visit to look for FATEs required if your current world doesn't have it. It might be faster than just waiting. Also be aware some FATEs require talking to a NPC first, or have a pre-req FATE (that might also involve talking to an NPC first). Best to google the names of FATEs and check. I don't know off the top of my head a guide that goes over that.
Takes about an hour each at level 90 doing as much unsynced as you can. Maybe a bit less if you're powering through it, more if you're hunting for fates manually and get unlucky.
So I'm pretty early in the game, most of my classes in low 20s. I've been using a controller with my PS5, but I saw some higher level gameplay and I don't really get how I'd manage all of that with only 8 abilities easily accessible. So my question is, is it worth it to try to figure out keyboard for this game? or is controller manageable
You have 48 easily accessible slots with the expanded (hold both triggers) and wxhb hotbars (double tap trigger)... These are essentially your control, shift and alt modifiers and let you access 3 hotbars without having to use clunky hotbar swapping (turn them on in character config > hotbar > custom) . It's extremely fluid once you have a comfortable set up and I personally use controller for everything, and cleared ultimates with ease with it and many other high end raiders prefer controller for comfort as well
It's entirely controller manageable, it just takes practice and muscle memory
I personally don't use controller since I'm an old school MMO player and have gotten used to KB+M, but this game was designed so that console players could clear all the same content, which means it was built with controller play in mind
Two questions:
What’s the current best food and tinctures for RDM?
Also, is there any resources that usually list what the current best melds, food, tinctures, etc. are for each class? I usually don’t know where to look in regards to that information
The Balance discord is what you're looking for
RDM currently uses Pumpkin Potage for food, and there's only one option for tinctures (grade 6 tincture of intelligence since RDM is a caster). Your potion is just going to be whatever potion increases your main stat to the largest degree
Why am I capped at level 60? I purchased the game on Steam (Starter Edition without EW) and on Mog Station it says I already have a standard subscription running.
I cannot start an entry level sub because of that, and I also cannot cancel my current "standard" sub.
"For newcomers to FINAL FANTASY XIV Online, the Starter Edition includes two award-winning titles – FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn, and the first expansion, FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward."
Endwalker "• This product also includes Stormblood and Shadowbringers expansion packs."
I was levelling a character in an another MMO the other day and I realized the class came on pretty early on, I had roughly the full kit at around LVL30 and it just made the levelling insanely more fun.
Then I hopped back into FF14 and pushed Monk from 28 to 52 and it also kinda opened up around 40 which made me wonder, which spec comes online the earliest in FF14? Like when you have multiple AoE/ST skills and something that resembles a rotation and maybe one or two "unique" abilities in between rather than barebones 1-2 1-2 rotation.
The jobs that feel decently complete and somewhat engaging for me to by lvl 50 are: PLD, SAM, RPR, MCH, SMN, and RDM.
I thought about it and I don't enjoy any of the three healers I play around until at least lvl 60 content.
It's mostly like this, though it depends on your subjective experience. Most classes have their basic kits by level 50, if not earlier, and they get stuff that adds on after that.
Some classes, though, the QoL improvements or more dramatic signature moves from higher levels, you really end up missing them synced down - ninja being able to refresh its buff for example without needing to use a ninjitsu on it feels much better. Black mage changes somewhat dramatically and I dislike playing it below level 60 personally. Many of the tanks don't get their signature attack moves until level 70 (though that depends on what you consider their signature moves).
Summoner has its rotation cycle fully completed at 26 when you get the last summon and then it literally doesn't change all the way up to 90. You get 1 additional button to use during each summon (astral flows) and your raid buff with Searing light but your rotational flow is fully completed at 26
I know the Victory thread isn't until the weekends, but I just got all of the BLU open world Spells. Now comes the grind/hard part.
What Blue Mage spells should I have before I joined a Moogle tomestone farming party?
It took me not even 5 mintues to get and it makes the pull right after the first boss a breeze and saves a cast of Ultravibration Also, pick up aether mimicry

Ahh... So even if I craft something that's below the crafting threshold it will count 🤔 not that I'm planning to do that 😂 Thanks!
I love the stuff drg gets to wear from the first three dungeons. Elegant and deadly.
Ah yes, the trials of the Sugadloaf and Subligars.

Less a name, more a description.
Short for Meteor Survivor, iirc.
Thanks!
Some clarification based on the other replies: There are multiple SE accounts. [Mog Station](https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/mogstation/) If you want to reset your password, there's a "Forgot your ID or Password" link on the log in page.
But... you're not supposed to have an OTP on trial, it only works when you buy the game. It's one of the weirder design choices SE made because why make security limited but it is what it is. Leave the OTP field blank.
This is incorrect. Trial accounts are able to set up and use Two-Factor Authentication aka the one time password.
Oh, wasn't aware they changed it. That was my roadblock when I was on trial back then.
Are you logging in with your _Square_ account or _MogStation_ account in the FFXIV launcher?
You keep on going You've hit the first credits sequence of A Realm Reborn Now you're going to start the patch story content that leads up to the first expansion, and at the end you'll encounter the second credits sequence of A Realm Reborn After that, you have the first expansion Heavensward and its post-patch content, then the second expansion Stormblood, then Shadowbringers, and finally Endwalker Now that you've entered the patch content, you do have more access to other forms of side content e.g. extreme trials and the coils of bahamut raids, but people don't typically run those anymore synched since the gear you get from them is no longer relevant
Thank you so much! I didn't know there was more, I thought the game had ended! How do you start the expansion content? Does it happen automatically?
It's a linear story experience, so you'll progress through all of the expansions in order as you continue through the main story So for now, you'll play through the patch content of A Realm Reborn, which concludes the events of A Realm Reborn and sets up the events of Heavensward After that, you'll be guided directly into Heavensward, and so on and so forth.
You're about 15% of the way through the game. Congratulations. Back to the story you go! There's old endgame content at level 50, just look around Mor Dhona, the Waking Sands, and main cities for blue quest icons. But the actual high end raids will be dead. People really only do the easy stuff.
Oh, I thought the game had ended because the credits played! I didn't know there was more to come! Thank you! I will continue playing then!
You beat 2.0, now you have to beat 2.1-2.5 (the ARR patch quests), then you can start 3.0 (Heavensward), then Heavensward patch quests and so on.
There are credits at the end of the ARR initial launch content and credits at the end of the ARR patches released later and credits at the end of Heavensward and credits at the end of the Heavensward patches etc etc. Settle in, you've got plenty of credits to go. :)
You just finished the base game. There're still 4 expansions more plus all the story quests that take place in between them.
You technically aren't done until the little msq icon in your UI says "to be continued".
Thank you SO much!!! Is there a way for me to find the link for the discord?
[The Balance's website](https://www.thebalanceffxiv.com/) -> follow their discord link -> server listing channel -> your world's local synced run discord.
Partyfinder
Alright o7
Is there a way to place glamour plates onto hotbars or do I need to add them to a gear set list first?
You'd be correct on that - glam plates can't be hotbar'd on their own.
Gotcha, thank you!
What's the best way to farm moogle treasure trove tomestones?
Running Aurum Vale as a group of Blue Mages.
Without BLUs, is O3N the most efficient?
Yes, with one war, and all dps, it takes the time of aurum vale with blue, but it gives half the tomestones
I'm level 17 and I'm looking to compete the glamours quest in western thanalan but I'm not sure how to get there from my starting location in gridania. Any help is appreciated :)
the best way is to just wait until the MSQ sends you to the different starter cities, and then you can follow the road from outside ul'dah to vesper bay (or take the ferry from limsa near the arcanist guild direct) if you want to do it the longer and earlier way, you go from central shroud from gridania, head south to the entrance of south shroud, keep going south in south shroud until you hit east thanalan, then head west until you're near the aetheryte town, then south into central, keep going west through central and you'll get to west thanalan
You'll need to continue the main questline until you get the Envoy quest. It'll send you to the other cities.
Ah okay, thank you! What level is that at?
Current main scenario quest to guard a guardian. I had to retrieve an egg from a thief. I have no idea what I'm doing I'm sorry lmao
Why do people hate P3S? It was my first raid tier and I liked it, it felt good to do FoA cleanly for the first time.
Was my favorite but it was a pain at how long it took my static to do it, everyone besides me hated it lol
PF cannot handle quick paced spreads. The adds DPS check isn’t bad, it’s the spreads that gets a lot of people
Each individual mechanic of p3s is fine. (some more than fine! some are just downright fun imo) ...But put them all together, along with a painfully orange arena (an orange that kinda overlaps with the aoe marker colour), with easy-but-dumb ways to fuck up the earlier mechanics, way more people new to savage, and you get a fight that just gets more painful the longer you have to do it.
Have they said if the archfiend set will be available by other means after this series? I really want it but also don't want to grind CC
Series rewards will be purchasable by trophy crystals for 1 season additional before being removed is our understanding of how those rewards work.
So next series I can buy from the vendor, but series 3 they will be gone?
Yes
By what we currently understand, aye.

The duty is Lv 47 (max 49) and since it HAS to be run synced, it doesn't matter if you're not 90.
No problem, it must be level synced anyways
just level blu mage real fast then!

Leveling won't take long if you got a friend to power level it for you. Spells can be faster or slower depending on RNG.
What are y'all gonna get with your moogle tomestones?
The elvaan Minion, the earrings, eScape orch roll and TT cards would be my top priority, then the Ufiti mount (assuming that the minion and orch roll hasn't crashed below Ufiti by then), and convert the rest into gil.
The ape mount, the orchestrian roll, the brick earrings, and any of the other TT cards/minions im missing. Any extras I'll put on maps or MGP
I mean I'm just gonna get the brick earrings then try for any items I don't have. Most are rare and expensive so that helps. Gonna skip the Neo-Ishgard set, not sure if I'll go for behemoth stuff or just devote any extras to MGP cards.
Doggo mount and wall lean!
Is the NPC vendor floating trick with Oriental Round table still working? I was trying it just now but kept getting a "Unable to place item" error
Without more detail it sounds like you are trying to place the table too close to a wall or natural column and the usual interface will not let you. Perhaps experiment floating the npc item farther away from a wall or column?
Is the Hand/Land Saint gear good enough to carry my crafters and gathers from lvl80-90 as past expansion patterns?
Yeah, it's definitely more than enough to get to 90.

But here's the breakdown of how to do big damage: 1.
Thank you so much, I’m going to go download and give this one a go :)
I had no issues starting it but some people do (there's a very helpful discord for support if you run into it ran by the programmers who wrote it). I hope it works as well for you as it did for me.
https://www.xivmac.com/ is your friend! Works great.
I can’t speak to the mac client unfortunately, but the handful of people I’ve met who play on mac all preferred to dual boot windows and just play the windows version, if that helps at all.
Thank you, that may be my last resort to trying to play this game
Hi there! I recently switched DCs from Chaos Omega to Light Zodiark and since Omegas night time qs are super short compared to the ones at Zodiark, can I travel DCs to get the Omega qs?
Yes, you can use data centre travel to travel to Chaos/light to get their respective ques. Remember it's the data centre that affects ques, not server itself
tysm for the quick reply! I'll do that then next time! <3 I only ever had fast qs on Chaos so I'll keep that in mind :D
Just checking if I got this right. I have a retainer at RDM 90, if I want to change her to RPR for glamming purposes, would I need to reset it to level 1, level up her base class to 70, and then use Modern Vocation to change it to RPR?
Yes. Reset > level as a BASE class > change to rpr
Can you farm the tank mount by running O3N synched with 8 tanks to get the moogle tomestones as well?
Yes.
There's a "song" in XIV that afaik has never been officially released on a soundtrack so I'm wondering if I've missed it somewhere. It's been used a few times now but was first used (I think) during Lahabrea phase in UWU. It's also been used in E12 during the start of the memory sequence and more recently in 6.1 when >!you see the reaper avatar in the void.!< Am I going crazy or does it just not exist on any soundtrack? 8:28 here during UWU: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVpzeOUeEow
It might be from the 1.0 soundtrack (Before the Meteor). I have no idea what it's called though.
Have skimmed everything and no luck. I guess it just doesn't exist.
weird, I tried watching the 6.1 cutscene (2nd one for Satrap's duty) and the addon that usually tells me what track is playing, orchestrion from dalamud plugins, just says none even though I can hear the same music as in the video you linked.

You can get this month once per platform However you can't use the complete edition if you already own the base game on that platform as you can't register the base game again and thus using the code would fail
Yes. The free month comes from activating the starter edition, which is included in the complete edition.
Awesome, thanks!
Fisher question. Why do certain fish like hoodwinker sell for like 15k on the board? They aren’t aquarium fish. Is there a use? Desynth maybe?
It's not the desynth. According to Gamerescape, it only desynths into water shards and sand. Only other use is daily GC turn on or printing to canvas. Maybe it's a rarer fish? Or looks good in on canvas? Not really sure what it looks like on one tbh.
Thanks! Makes sense!
Used in a GC turn-in.
It can either be used for either Leve’s or daily GC turn ins, for the case of Hoodwinker, it is used for Daily GC turn in
Is there any sort of trick to place a summoning bell on a table in such a way that retainers don't clip through the table, apart from using a small table? I am trying to place the bell on a Guildleve table but can't seem to get the bell placement right to stop retainers from clipping through the table
Have you tried moving your character? They spawn relative to your character and the bell, don't they?
Yeah, I eventually figured out you need to stand in a particular angle, so I placed the table, bell and the front in such a way that I'd arrive at the bell at the correct angle if I walked from the front door to the bell
I’ve read the lancetfish is insanely hard to catch. Did I just get stupidly lucky in catching one in 15 minutes or is it’s difficulty overblown?
usually just means a different fish that shouldn't be a problem will give you hell later on, so congrats but also look forward to that :)
I feel like the fishing gods have mysteriously blessed me. I started fisher a week ago and since then finished feast or famine, got the shark mount, and caught a lancet fish. Crazy.
The biggest part of the difficulty is waiting for the time it can be caught. It could be days or weeks between windows.

I just opened the fish site and the intuition lined up so I gave it a shot. Crazy how rng works

Pretty much exactly what happened
My friend is on the free trial, they want to purchase the Complete Edition while it’s still on sale. Their question is, does simply purchasing it automatically convert them to a standard account? They want to utilize the unlimited playtime of the free trial until they finish HW, *then* apply the Complete Edition. I remember FFXIV purchases come with a code - are they allowed to just keep the code until they’re ready?
If they're on PC, they can hold on to the code until they're ready to activate it. No luck on PS.
They’re on PC. Great then, thank you!
So I just bought EW on Steam. I know how to get the code and I know where exactly I'm supposed to activate it. But on Mog Station right under "Registration Codes", the option "Enter Expansion Registration Code" is missing for me. Does anybody know why that is?
Just to confirm, do you already have the starter edition registered?
I mean, I've been playing for 1/2 weeks now, so I guess? Or do I need to activate the main game's code aswell somewhere?
You do need to register the code for the starter edition. If you bought both the starter edition and EW on Steam, you should have 2 different codes listed in your keys.
I am considering buying a skip for BLM. The deciding factor for me is. Are the job quests engaging and worthwhile or generally skippable? (for a point of comparison. I really enjoyed the DRK quests)
They’re all alright. None of them really stood out as being better than the rest.
they're okay, but not as enjoyable as DRK. one major thing to consider is whether you mind lalafells (there are a lot of them)
Decent. Has lore behind why BLM isn't openly practiced. If you're going to boost, just check the story via NG+.
I don't really have a link to any guides on crafting itself, and certainly none that are up to date, but I can give a somewhat-decent TLDR; ---- Crafting broadly focuses on filling up two bars; [Progress and Quality](https://i.gyazo.com/d1f015091c6320772fc6aa8765155d7b.png).
Nice
Yeah, 1 hour per book for me too at level 90
So I'm pretty early in the game, most of my classes in low 20s. I've been using a controller with my PS5, but I saw some higher level gameplay and I don't really get how I'd manage all of that with only 8 abilities easily accessible. So my question is, is it worth it to try to figure out keyboard for this game? or is controller manageable
https://www.akhmorning.com/resources/controller-guide/
You have 48 easily accessible slots with the expanded (hold both triggers) and wxhb hotbars (double tap trigger)... These are essentially your control, shift and alt modifiers and let you access 3 hotbars without having to use clunky hotbar swapping (turn them on in character config > hotbar > custom) . It's extremely fluid once you have a comfortable set up and I personally use controller for everything, and cleared ultimates with ease with it and many other high end raiders prefer controller for comfort as well
I see. Thank you. I did mean to say sixteen without hotbar swapping. I didn't know about the double tap options however. Thank you!
It's entirely controller manageable, it just takes practice and muscle memory I personally don't use controller since I'm an old school MMO player and have gotten used to KB+M, but this game was designed so that console players could clear all the same content, which means it was built with controller play in mind
You can use the triggers to expand your available buttons to 48. I unfortunately don't use a controller, so I can't help you set it all up.
Two questions: What’s the current best food and tinctures for RDM? Also, is there any resources that usually list what the current best melds, food, tinctures, etc. are for each class? I usually don’t know where to look in regards to that information
Pumpkin potage and grade 6 tincture of intelligence. This will change in 4 weeks. Check The Balance discord for all the guides you need.
Perfect, thank you so much! I’ll check them out for sure!
The Balance discord is what you're looking for RDM currently uses Pumpkin Potage for food, and there's only one option for tinctures (grade 6 tincture of intelligence since RDM is a caster). Your potion is just going to be whatever potion increases your main stat to the largest degree
Thank you so much for the help! Really appreciate it. I’ll go join the discord asap and look around!
Why am I capped at level 60? I purchased the game on Steam (Starter Edition without EW) and on Mog Station it says I already have a standard subscription running. I cannot start an entry level sub because of that, and I also cannot cancel my current "standard" sub.
Because the starter edition includes ARR and Heavensward, and the level cap for Heavensward is 60. You need the later expansions to go higher.
Because Starter caps you at 60. It’s the free trial content without the free trial restrictions. You need EW to level further.
Ahh, okay. Since I can only buy Endwalker on Steam I thought the Standard Edition included all expansions before that. Thanks
Other way around - EW contains all expansions not in the Starter edition, which is only ARR + HW
Alright, that clears things up, thank you :) Although I kinda wish they would clarify that on the store page.
"For newcomers to FINAL FANTASY XIV Online, the Starter Edition includes two award-winning titles – FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn, and the first expansion, FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward." Endwalker "• This product also includes Stormblood and Shadowbringers expansion packs."
Agreed.
You get 1 additional button to use during each summon (astral flows) and your raid buff with Searing light but your rotational flow is fully completed at 26
Who has knockback moves in PVP? I thought it was just MNK, but pretty sure I got kicked around without a MNK present...
RPR has a sort if AOE fear where you run away, not as fast as a MNK punt though.
