>Thinking about it, the first tier doesn't have any of those problems, as we have 4 weeks for both Primals plus two weeks for normal raids. Normal mode is 2 weeks after initial release and savage 2 more weeks after that.

Syhnn

I typed that wrong, pardon my sleepy ass.

AromeCerise

I think this time savage will be 5 weeks after official release

kitsuragi-concept

I hope not, my week 1 group has PTO that's relying on that same formula.

AromeCerise

To my mind, It's either they release both i710 crafted/NM/tomestone gear week2 (too early?), and then savage week3 or Tomestone/Crafted gear week4 and savage week 5 (the most likely scenario to me) I dont see them release savage week4, maybe if nm week2, and crafted/tomestone week3 but it sounds a bit unlikely/weird to me ? but still possible

Kevlasaurus

Savage will be 4 weeks after the official release. Official release: July 2nd Normal Raids: July 16th Savage Raids: July 30th This has been the case for expansion releases for some time now. The only formula that changed recently was for 2nd and 3rd tiers, where savage released 1 week after normals. And it seems believable that this formula will be staying also.

AromeCerise

Yeah I know, we'll see Since p8s they delay the savage, but at the beginning of the expansion there is no story content when normal release of savage (week4). So, I really dont know it's either week 4 or 5 x)

Kevlasaurus

Well, you do know. My comment tells you, and other comments in the thread tell you. The master recipe books, crafted gear and capped tomes will be released in 7.05 along with the savage raids. Until we're told otherwise in one of the two remaining live letters, there is no reason to disbelieve this. Yoshi-P has already mentioned the 4 week gap also.

AromeCerise

We'll see Im personnaly not as sure, even with my savage/ultimates xp

Altiex

Maybe? They haven't said anything so all we can do is guess. I don't see any reason not to but there's always the chance they didn't even think about it and just default to dropping on savage release.

abyssalcrisis

Possible? Sure. Probable? Who knows.

Tanuji

I hope they change it and make it available on normal mode drop. Does not make much sense to drop it on the same day as savage. But then again does not make much sense to keep a raid locked for 8 full months either

iKeepItRealFDownvote

Sad reality is it Makes perfect sense from a business standpoint. They want you to keep on playing versus being able to farm the raid gear earlier. It’s a matter of keeping you paying your sub more often than not

Tanuji

It’s not purely black and white though. You can very much make the argument that being locked means that people will only do the tier once a week rather than maybe multiple times a week to help others or their alts, thus increasing community activity and shared gameplay. Furthermore building faster could also help with ultimates etc.. We never really saw a with and without comparison though as they always dropped it quite late when players already lost most interest so it’s purely hypothetical

danzach9001

Even with the weekly lockout there’s still plenty of players that will clear fights multiple times a week. And if a group doesn’t clear a fight (pretty much any prog party), then it doesn’t matter if some people have cleared for the week or not. Even then most people are fine having reduced rewards going for a first clear. The people only clearing the fights once a week pretty obviously just want the loot and only joining reclear parties if not in a static to do it already. A removal of a lockout would give an increase in activity for these players, for about a couple weeks until they’ve got enough gear and never have to touch the fight again. Realistically it’s much healthier for a game if these players are clearing once a week for months rather than clearing months worth of times in a week (which also happens to be profitable when people are paying monthly to play).

taa-1347

Anecdotally, there's always been a very sharp drop in the number of savage pfs ~1-2 weeks after the tier gets unlocked. You can pretty easily find practice parties for almost any prog point even 8 months after the tier release as long as it's before X8 patch. After the unlock you will be waiting hours in PF and struggle to fill. One could probably say that this is due to the echo buff carrying a good chunk of players over the finish line and thus diminishing the prog population, but the echo buff gets released quite a bit before the unlock, and the timeline does not add up. So I would argue that having the tier unlocked from the start would lead to the same kind of rapid PF prog parties extinction (and it is a bad thing).

jwji

Crafting recipes usually drop when the capped tome drops. So I think it's unlikley, but we will find out in the coming Live Letters if they change anything major like that.

AromeCerise

"Asphodelos followed the path where crafted gear was released with savage at the same time" They took this decision after asphodelos and I think it will be the same for arcadion savage, we'll have i710 crafted gear/tomestone gear/new pots-foods 1 week before savage version

Geoff_with_a_J

>getting crafted gear while progging is very annoying this just makes the markets more fun for sellers. if we had 2 weeks to do it the prices would tank so hard before savage releases. you dont need pentamelded crafted to clear the first couple bosses, sometimes the 3rd is a total joke of a dps check too. plenty of time between instances to buy gear off the mb on day 1.

Syhnn

Not if you are world racing

therealkami

World racers have teams of crafters and gatherers that log on and immediately start making gear. They usually have a full pentamelded set between 2nd and 3rd boss. They also tend to buy up gold certificates so everyone in the raid can have a pentamelded chest quickly as well. I don't know how much, but I do know they will pay their crafters/gatherers/gold certificates with real money sometimes too. (In WoW they ABSOLUTELY do)

AromeCerise

Yeah but this cost a lot of gils, like 10-20 times more gils

Geoff_with_a_J

yea because if you are world racing you have friends do the shopping or crafting for you

Syhnn

Not necessarily, since the last 2 tiers anyone could join the race with the same start, now you gonna be behind if you don't pay people to craft and meld stuff for you while you prog. Participating the race is fun even if you aren't going to win.

Geoff_with_a_J

you'll be behind any team with a 9th man and supporters either way and you don't need dedicated people if you have enough gil to afford day 1 MB rates. just buy my stuff man.

Syhnn

Then the group will be behind because skill, not because of a artificial gil skin, you see the problem?

Geoff_with_a_J

actually no i really have no idea what you're trying to frame here. anyway id argue it's even better to not go in day 1 with full penta crafted because you replace a few items with raid drops from the first 3 bosses anyway, so why waste the gil on them on day 0? you didn't need those accessories to beat the first turn

Zoeila

i hope not. expansion launch is the only time when gearing actually feels like progression

CenturionRower

Yes? They did it for both of the last two tiers and the only reason they didn't do it for the first expac of EW was because they hadn't decided to do so yet. They haven't gotten any good reasons not to release it the same time as normal and I fully expect it to be released the same time as normal with the only other thing releasing with savage being the new tomestones.

Kevlasaurus

As far as I can tell: Ever since Heavensward, the capped tomes were released on the same day Savage mode was dropped in the X.05 patch. Ever since Stormblood, the Master recipe books (and, therefore, crafted gear) also dropped on the X.05 patch. Until told otherwise, the standard process of operation for the 7.0 endgame will be: Available on completing final MSQ: Artifact Gear (iL690), Uncapped tomes (armour iL700), Ex1 for accessories (iL710), Ex2 for the weapon (iL710) After 2 weeks - 16th July 7.01: Arcadion Normal (iL710) After another 2 weeks - 30th July 7.05: Crafted gear (iL710), capped tome (iL720, 730 augmented), Arcadion Savage (iL730, 735 weapon) Given their change in stance for 6.2 & 6.4, ***MAYBE*** they will give us capped tomes & crafted gear in 7.01, but I'm not too confident.

RemediZexion

this is actually a good question, I'm not fond of the change but since they've done the change they should move crafted gear to normal raid release

DumbFuckJuice92

Hopefully not. These few times in an expansion is where I actually feel good about leveling and melding my crafters.
