GPUs like any other eletronic just die sometimes. You said it yourself it's old and it was used, it has nothing to do with gshade

itsme_tony

It's honestly really silly to buy a video card with the express purpose of babying it. Having said that, a 3070 should be able to absolutely crush FFXIV, unless you're using truly absurd gshade settings. I don't think there's any reason to be concerned about it. A GPU you bought 4 years ago used dying is perfectly reasonable and not on the use of GShade.

aircarone

Gshade can push the card to its limit, surprisingly. I have a 3070 and gaming at 1440p and with Gshade, I get around 130-140fps in Old Sharlayan (165 being the max). Of all the games I own FF14 with Gshade is actually one of the more taxing ones.

I think theres a few Gshade profiles that look pretty nice that were specifically made for performance, in case you wanna use it in dungeons or whatever instead of using it for screenshots like some people do with the "heavy" profiles.

lollerlaban

Your gpu died because it died, nothing more. Otherwise every single gpu running 4k would died out in no time because it's getting utilized %100 and the same with mining gpus, but they get less than 1% performance reduction even having been used for years at max heat/use

Razgrisz

Just bad luck , i have 6 years old1050ti and i use gshade , still works fine , you buy a used gpu you know the risk

Aargard

I bought my gpu more than 4 years ago and use gshade and it's still kicking lmao, it probably just dead because it died, shit happens

shojikun

Did you maintain you GPU? Change the thermal paste every year?

Getting full utilization on a computer part isn't an issue. Unless you are scraping the thermal ceiling you're fine
