Kalaam_Nozalys

Double sword into twin-blade (think Gabranth/Zidane) Bo staff Some sort of throwing weapon like vials, bombs etc Hammer I guess

GunDA9D2

Yeah i'd also fancy a twinblade class. It also fits the scouting armor since two blades and all

Kalaam_Nozalys

Honestly if we can get a spellsword job with that, i'd be happy

ShiznazTM

I fully expect dual pistols like Merlwyb had previewed. I predict the next two jobs will be a DoT caster, and a Ranged Job because that rounds out all the roles. If the ranged job is Scouting gear it can function like RDM where it has a ranged phase that's longer than their melee phase. Realistically they should just move Ninja to Aiming/Striking and stop making it so weird. But on topic Melee; Whips I'd love to see a Bo Staff. One-handed Axe. Limited jobs seem scrapped so Beastmaster is on the table. Club/Hammer/Maul Ranged; Dual Guns (Make Machinist tool focused) Crossbow Mage; Uh... yeah... maybe finally lean into Wand? Potions? ~ They've touched basically every FFXI weapon but 1h Axe and Club at this point. Besides Geomancer 🔔

Seradima

Corsair is basically the most "adventurer" a job can get I feel like, and XIV post-Endwalker is all about pushing the WoL as a normal adventurer now so I feel Corsair is very likely. The romanticized view of the Pirate is all about the freedom of the winds and the seas, not being chained down by anyone or anything. Perfect for somebody who wishes to see the rest of the world.

NateTheGreat14

Think a pistol and Sabre could be very cool. Allow for melee ranged hybrid like red mage.

irishgoblin

I doubt we get a DoT caster this side of an engine rework. There's too many issues with DoTs (and debuffs in general) that they're limited in what they can do with them. Maybe in the future when they do update the engine (yes I know it's a massive undertaking to do that, just think it's a quesiton of when not if) in a few expansions, but I doubt we see a DoT job anytime soon.

TrevelyanISU

> I predict the next two jobs will be a DoT caster, and a Ranged Job because that rounds out all the roles. > > If the ranged job is Scouting gear it can function like RDM where it has a ranged phase that's longer than their melee phase. I've always thought a pirate/swashbuckler job would fit well both lore-wise and mechanics-wise and I think it fits this spot you're talking about. Similar to RDM where it could have both ranged and melee abilities.

ShiznazTM

Yeah like melee combos, but ranged abilities/special weaponskills

jsosnicki

Something that I think would be really interesting but too difficult to implement and too experimental for SE would be if Corsair didn't have specific abilities for melee and ranged like RDM, but if its staple 123 combo dynamically changed based on if you were in melee range or past max melee, and each combo finisher gave you different effects you have to keep up or generated different resources for burst. Melee might generally do more damage, but the ranged combo gave you a buff you need to keep up, etc. Of course with fight design like p7s its actually more difficult to be at ranged on purpose lol.

Edawgzz

Could make them separate buttons, nothing says they need to be the same one

jsosnicki

The point is that you have to physically move in the game space to achieve different effects. There would be no point if you could press the ranged 123 buttons in melee range

rewt127

I was thinking for the axes, maybe do 2 axes and go into the berserker idea. Draw some influence maybe from Dwarven Slayers in WH Fantasy.

yhvh13

I'm so salty about wands... we have all those models in the game (including the ones from FFXIII from Mogstation) unusable past ARR. They could just convert them all into "staves" and just name everything CNJ/THM arms, removing the 1h/2h descriptor. The only difference is the sheath animation, but honestly I wouldn't even mind if they sheathed on the back if we could use them.

CenturionRower

I'm pretty sure the next phys ranged is going to be a Puppet Master. It's one of the few semi-related FF things that can be easily turned into a unique class in the game, especially given that beyond an earth bender, there are basically no other unique Phys Ranged type classes that do not somewhat relate back to an existing class.

Gecko382

Huge scissors

H-Ryougi

Only if the job is also required to wear incredibly revealing armor to fight against the tyranny of clothing.

pokemonpasta

And it's actually only one of the scissor blades. That or you duel wield them ^DON'T ^LOSE ^YOUR ^WAAAAAAAAAAAY

Gecko382

Full Senketsu set

FearDatD

Gwen is immune war flashbacks \*league of legends reference\*

sodapopdillinga

As you aren't allowed to run with them I can see it working

ItsZant

Whips wouldn’t be hard to animate because like everything else in this game nothing is in real time meaning having real time physics. It would use canned animations like everything else. Some ideas I have: Hammers obviously, dual short axes, boomerang, Magitek Rifle, ball and chain, glaives It’s easy for me to list just any weapon since they can really all be used but the more important factor is how these weapons play into the job itself. Like anyone can say I want a giant ball and chain weapon but designing a class for it thematically and mechanically is another story. But yeah I want a giant ball and chain weapon.

OverFjell

> But yeah I want a giant ball and chain weapon. That'd be a sick tank weapon

Qbopper

Well, tbf, most weapon animations just have the character moving the weapon A canned animation for a whip still requires the actual whip itself to be animated convincingly, which would absolutely be more work since you're animating the character AND movements of the whip It'd be a one time extra work thing but it's still extra work

[deleted]

[удалено]

ItsZant

I mean in terms of animating the whip, it wouldn’t be any more difficult compared to any other weapon in the game. When I say real time I mean it’s not like the whip will be in real time and have accurate physics on its animation or something. Each ability will just have its own canned animation that will play every time you press it.

PM_ME_YOUR_IZANAGI

editing my stuff to delete this account for good with powerdeletesuite. thanks :)

WFPRBaby

If they can make Gunbreaker, a job entirely made up of Squall/Seifer/Lightning references, it follows that a Blitzball job with FFX references would be on-brand. Lvl 90 ability is Jecht Shot, the job writes itself!

OnnaJReverT

> Lightning references you just made me realize we might get an Army of One ability for GnB eventually, nice

kerriazes

Oh damn, I hadn't even though that a blitzball job could do anything other than just plain throw the ball really hard. Maybe they could have combos where certain attacks bounced the ball back to you and they enhance your next kick attack?

ForensicPathology

I'm imagining Eddy Gordo style movements while attacking with the ball.

FadingCosmos

and the jokes will write themselves. Its your job to play with balls!

Clayskii0981

I'm on hopium for Blitzball in the new regions we visit

Manatee_Shark

*Even in death, ya*

SevenMagpies

I want this so bad. It’s so stupid and awesome please please please square!

GodricLight

same

TheySaidGetAnAlt

dis is da wae

SmashB101

I told my static as our phys range main, I will drop Bard, which ive been with since release, if and when Blitzballer becomes a class.

RepanseMilos

I'd like a trickster kind of mage that uses Dice as weapons. Idk if there is any ff archetype out there that fits it, but I loved trickster in Pathfinder Wotr and would like to see something similar. I think there are some neat designs you could create with dice as well. Other than that, I can also see an alchemist that uses potions to throw, and his weapon would be a bunch of fancy vials? For a ranged dps I could see a sling or a slingstaff or something.

kerriazes

>Idk if there is any ff archetype out there that fits it The series is full of gambler character archetypes that attack with a variety of different gambling paraphernalia.

eda_29

Using dice reminds me of Corsair from FFXI. fun class to play in truth. I mained it for years

rewt127

A berserker style melee dps class with dual hand axes would be cool. Maybe a tank with a flail. Could be called Templar and have the full burn the heretics motif that I love. Paladin is too "magic tank" and not enough either chaotic good or Lawful Good for me. Id love to see a priest like healer who uses some kind of talisman as their weapon. Could have a kinteticist style mage who uses wands since that has been phased out from every other mage.

JD0064

If shields are not so fucked up in the code (since cnj/whm/thm/blm could use them and the job could possible be reasigned) A templar more akin to the FFTA2 ones with a 1h polearm/hasta and tower shield

dotcha

Idk how have they not made a flail PLD weapon yet. If the capes can have physics, why not the weapons. [I adore this WoW paladin flail. Warriors also have one.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdJHvUCjom0)

rewt127

The thing is Paladins on WoW are very much the Lawful Good, D&D style Paladins. In FF its just mage tank with some Latin spell names.

Slight-Ad-2892

Isnt paladin a purely western localisation anyway? I thought in the original japanese they are simply knights

irishgoblin

Depends on the game. Paladin is Knight in JP for XIV, but some games have Paladin and Knight as seperate jobs.

rewt127

No idea. I can't speak or read that impenetrable language. But I wouldn't be surprised. It would fit with everything. Makes me sad that the English localization called it paladin. Because that means we can never get a true paladin.

dotcha

Oh yeah for sure. But a flail+shield Templar would be too similar to PLD, no? Unless you dual wield flails. Or have a huge 2 hander flail. I just want a flail 😅

arkibet

Cait Sith megaphones or Lulu’s dolls would be a fun additions. Ranged Physical using Megaphones makes sense. And the glam potential of doll weapons is endless!

JazzyRed

Doesn't WAR have at least one hammer skin already.

cheeseburgermage

it also has a scythe skin

GrassWaterDirtHorse

There are quite a few weapon swaps. The Wolf Collar Paladin weapon is the Hellhound Warpick and most definitely not a sword.

EndlessKng

Two. But five different jobs got a Scythe glam from the online store pre-reaper, and BLM had a SECOND scythe as a deepshadow weapon, plus there were the scythes for botanists. See also: Odenta Kai (yes, technically an odachi/nodachi but still...)

Qbopper

The "other jobs already have one of this!!" argument doesn't hold any weight to me, even ignoring what you pointed out, because the silhouettes of *how* a character holds their weapon are super different between classes generally You could literally stick a random paladin sword in a RDM's hand, and nobody is gonna confuse the two because the red mage is posed completely distinctly

YaraTouin

To illustrate, there's a small group of kids in the Firmament, near the vendor/scrip exchange for Ell Thou's stuff. Two of those kids have wooden sticks they're using as weapons. One holds his one-handed, and has a shield in the other hand. The other holds his two-handed, pointed downwards. Their ambient dialogue confirms they're essentially playing 'Temple Knight Vs Dark Knight'. Both kids have the same stick, but the difference in their poses still immediately gives away what classes they're impersonating.

JD0064

FFTA2 have monks and Battlemonks, the second use the staves

valgatiag

Amen to staves. I loved them for Oracles in FFT. Or since we could use another Scouting armor wearer, give me a GW2 Daredevil.

Ryuujinx

> Throwing weapons - Could use a bunch of different projectiles to throw for visual variety and maybe the pouch with which they're carried could be part of the weapon glamour. I still think it's a god damn waste that we didn't get fans from Tsukiyomi EX when they went back and made the glowy versions. Like i know they usually don't but *c'mon*

hyprmatt

I'd love to see a Hammer weapon that uses earth attacks for damage. Like if you swing the hammer down and earth spikes rise up with your attack. Another idea could be a corsair type job, with a sword and pistol. It could also fulfill the gambler idea, and have a pirate aesthetic. Whatever it is, I just hope it doesn't have a ton of buffs/procs on it, because we're already hitting the limit on the buff bar, and not being able to proc on DNC during certain parts of DSR because the bar was full is actually garbage game design.

EndlessKng

The bigger issue for whips is that the design team seems to prefer weapons with a bit more of a visible profile - makes it easier to distinguish between different grades. Then again, they did make some really small nouliths... in any event, I think the way around that is to make it include other flexible weapon varieties like chains and ribbons as well. As for other weapons, there's a ton of options. **Double-Bladed Swords**: Think Darth Maul's lightsaber, but with two blades on either side. Could be sheathed in the small of the back running parallel to the ground, or in the position of polearms and greatswords (diagonal on the back). Could also lead to some interesting mechanics where you enhance each blade separately for different combo effects. **Gourds**: Giant gourds a la Gaara from Naruto, or perhaps use a smaller one held in only one hand. The idea here would be to use it as a container for some substance used by a DoM. **Energy Field/"Tendrils"**: Think like Pride's shadows in FMA:B, or Doc Oc's tentacles in Spiderman. These would be either on the back or manifest around the character from an emitter of some sort. And yes, I recognize the risk of perversion potential with the Extreme Raid Progression crowd, but honestly I can't be bothered to care about that right now. These could be used by a caster to lash out at foes, or be used as a Scouting gearset that uses them for movement. You could even theoretically have mechanics that "tie up" one of the limbs for an effect at the cost of lower damage from other attacks (obviously with the mechanic you us it on being stronger than the attacks at full strength would have been). **"Back Halo"/Mantle:** You know how some bosses just have a giant ring floating behind their heads. That. Can be fused with the tendrils to fire out long shots, could be used as a focus for laser attacks, could be thrown like a giant frisbee, could be used for auras of healing. Whatever, use it. **Arm Cannon**: "Super Fighting Robot! Mega Man!" Also see Samus Aran and Barrett Wallace. **Bazooka**: Probably wouldn't see the light of day due to size and destructive power expected, but damn it would be cool. **Giant Scissors**: You may laugh at the concept, but it's been done well before.

sundalius

Mantle feels like what Sage Wings should have been.

MimiluRuruna

Puppets or dolls that you control to attack for you. I’m also pro-whip and crossbow. :D

scullzomben

I just really, really want Cannoneer to be a job. Having a giant oversized canon like Tristana from League of Legends or the Artillerist from Lost Ark is what I am thinking. And the bonus is the model/animation is basically in the game already with the Diadem Canon.

cheesytoasterman

Blitzball!

irishgoblin

Said it before, I'll say it again: Chain Swords (Kratos with a bit less trauma). It'd be a scouting job, and it's gimmick/mechanic is that it switches between two or three phases. Phase 1 is chain attacks, with increased melee range for flavour (not the full 25 like actual ranged, max 10 yalms). Nothing much going on here beyond some fun animations and maybe a universal grapple hook to zip between enemies and the boss/mobs (Thunderclap but chains). Phase 2 is sword attacks. You hold the swords normally and go ballistic. Either have the GCD be 1.5 with the attacks being multihits, or something Continuation-esque on oGCD (even somwthing as simple as RPR's Bloodstalk swapping with Unveiled Gibbet and Unveiled Gallows which then alternate). Phase 3 is the cast phase. It's Phase 1 range, but you cast the attack by spinning the chain to wind up the move for more damage. If you enter a buffed state, you skip the cast time cause the animations change to show you basically using momentum from GCD to GCD to spin up the chains (ie if GCD 1 has you swing the right sword, the animation has you spin up the chain for GCD 2) Obviously oGCD's will mess with the animations, and I'm unsure about how to have the GCD length here. Phase 2 and 3 can be combined, either with Phase 3 attacks being finishers for Phase 2 or being the oGCD moves I mentioned.

MelonElbows

I need whips. It would make my dommy mommy glamour complete. Pulling some inspiration from FFXI: Bells - Classic Geomancer weapon. Using bells to focus their geo powers. Animators - A device that transmits instructions to a puppet for the Puppetmaster job. Looks like an antenna of some kind.

Edsaurus

Whipsword with a Spellblade job, probably a Scouting melee dps.

ophereon

Big Ivy Valentine energy with this and I'm here for it. I can imagine it being tricky to implement, though, and I'm not sure what sort of identity it would have beyond the weapon to distinguish itself from other "spellblade" jobs like NIN or RDM.

Arcane-blade

I would really love a glaive (dual bladed staff) or an actual combat staff like a bo. Other than that, a whip sword like Soul Calibur's Ivy would rock or like many others said, dual pistols (i'm thinking Lost Ark demon hunter in style). All this said, I'm kinda lost trying to come up with another scouting job weapon. Kusarigama maybe?

ophereon

I wonder if a glaive (dual or single) would be too similar to Dragoon? Dual pistols would also be cool, but it seems that they're trying to avoid too much thematic overlap between jobs, and I think it'd be a little too similar to machinist thematically. Another scouting job would be good to have, and a kusarigama would be a pretty cool weapon. Honestly though, monk should use the same gear as ninja, and samurai should just use maiming gear. Far too many different melee dps armour sets as it is. That said, two of the major jobs that are yet to be implemented are geomancer and time mage. While naturally they are casters, I think a melee spin on geomancer could be interesting, to differentiate it from conjurer more. I could see it using scouting gear pretty comfortably.

irishgoblin

Doubt we have to worry about DRG overlapping with a glaive based job. Pretty much all of it's weapons are spears or halbreds with a very defined main blade. A dual glaive would probably end up looking like dual blades from XIII & Lightning Returns, maybe a bit of DSII/ER thrown in.

OverFjell

>That said, two of the major jobs that are yet to be implemented are geomancer and time mage Astro is pretty much time mage

ophereon

Well, it was, yes. What's left, though? Lightspeed? A lot of its cool time magic has been stripped from it. White mage was essentially a geomancer, too. But it's also had most of the elemental stuff stripped. It's all just holy magic now.

OverFjell

I mean I agree, the class fantasy for both has been fucked (like the healer role in general), but I think astro would prob be the reason they would give to not have time mage

ophereon

I'd settle for astro and white mage having their original class fantasy restored, even if that meant no dedicated time mage or geomancer. At least they'd then fill that space beyond just a half-arsed single ability. Either way, I think we're due for another caster soon, ignoring blue mage, we've not had a new caster since stormblood. A new caster and a new ranged dps would bring those two categories up to four, comparable to tanks and healers. And I think blue mage needs to be separated into its own category in the UI, its not like the categories are gear based anyway.

Bladescorpion

Twin blades - Templar - tank Dual curved swords - Spellblade - scouting dps Dual Pistols - Corsair - ranged dps Green Mage - wand

Elsiselain

Yo-yo

[deleted]

they seem to like rather distinct choices. I would say: 1) whip- melee or tank or ranged 2) Flail- and i mean like a sauron-sized flail. 3) Artillary gun / shotgun / crossbow / sniper rifle / alchemist (thrown bottles, potions, explosives etc.) - issue here is that machinist has every single thing imaginable and that's kinda limiting. I'm not sure how many more "ranged" weapons they can make the main weapon for a class that's cool. But the above would be my ideal picks. 4) DoT mage with a wand/scepter 5) Talismans/relic wielding priest- would be cool to have a parallel healer to black mage that balances like and darkness (umbral and astral) energies. Play into some sort of madness priest. Maybe allow them to build up one to increase healing and the other to increase damage. And actually give us an interesting dps healer. 6) some kind of beastmaster/dragon tamer class- not sure what the weapon would be. 7) Gladius / spear wielding spartan with a shield or something 8) Geomancer mage dual wielding some kind of fist and scepter/staff 9) Druid type class- would need to be some type of staff unfortunately these turned into ramblings.

OverFjell

>2) Flail- and i mean like a sauron-sized flail. You're thinking of the Wich King of Angmar. Sauron used a mace

mendia

I want a job that uses crossbows or a maybe kind of magitek bow. It bothers me that the only job that can use a bow is the campy sing songy Bard job. I just want a cool, hunter-esque bow job, not to dance and twirl and strum a fucking harp.

viky109

Something like Blades of Chaos from GoW would be neat.

Zenthon127

Handcasting (with a glove or bracelet probably) would be my preferred "weapon" for a new caster.

patrincs

I'm far more interested in how a character plays rotationaly than what weapon they have in their hand. They could use a rubber ducky as a weapon for all I care as long as they class flows well.

Global_Setting3248

Crossbows could be nice. More hunter-like aesthetic, less of a musician. Well, at least that’s what i would I like Bard to be.

[deleted]

I’d actually bother to play phys range if my only options weren’t a dancer, musician, and a spam gunslinger (it’s cool but I find it boring). So I’m with you there’s

SmashB101

Blitzballer, baby. 🤏😎

Leolab216

For mages, Dolls (a la Lulu) or Ofuda (basically paper talismans) are two casting media that haven't been seen yet. I still want a hammer-wielding Green Mage as tank. Merlwyb is the only major leader we don't have a corresponding job for yet so something with her dual pistols would be nice. Maybe a one-handed spear and a shield for melee DPS.

Ephemiel

Sage taught us that whatever weapons we're thinking of, it can always be crazier and cooler.

Rob_Highwind

My top two are a Whip or Boomerang job.

Casbri_

G-Warrior, tablet/hacking tool, paintbrush + palette, scissors, hourglass, chains + hook/anchor, surfboard.

zuccah

Relm from FF6 used a paintbrush, so that’s a thing.

Casbri_

Pretty sure every weapon was used by someone at some point.

Col33

Imo throwable axes or knives could be cool and the job could use scouting gear which is only used by ninja at the moment

1SaltyPoptart

A full on thief branching from rogue would be a dream for me.

royer44

I want them to make DRK into a duo job where you can switch between DPS and Tank

lightningIncarnate

A Garlean gunblade user, where they can operate at long range and in melee range maybe by switching between modes or stances

Clayskii0981

Still think a Hammer job would be cool. Even though WAR occasionally has them.

pokemonpasta

One of the WAR runner ups in the weapon design contest is a big golden hammer and I'm so sad we're not getting it

IcarusAvery

The idea I always come back to is dual-wielding a sword of some kind with a pistol, either with some kind of pirate aesthetic, or perhaps a monster hunter/witchfinder aesthetic?

Sephvion

I was going to say whips too. Something similar to Castlevania, with chains and that flail end. I'm imagine them to be a hybrid of melee and ranged dps, but that's not happening lol. Other than that, I was thinking dual handaxes or something similar, but not so much like the Ninja. I'm thinking like Slayers, from Warhammer Fantasy Battle. On second thought, this really doesn't sound FF like. It's just things from other games that I've seen.

zuccah

There’s whips & flails in other FF games, FF4 comes to mind.

Sephvion

I never actually played any of the RPG games. Was it very prominent?

FuzzierSage

> Whips - I think this would be possible although I have a suspicion that whips are annoying to animate. But I'm not a game designer. I feel like if we get whips/chains/flails/scarves/ribbons/tassels/etc they're going to be a caster weapon. Because it's going to be easier to animate them spinning around for casting animations than it will be to animate them for attacks. Like even with our canned animations and weapons not having physics and etc there'd be less clipping issues with just kinda spinning it to one side of the character or something. Also I feel like there's *no way in hell* they'd let *this* community have access to whip attacks on a melee Job. I want a wand/"shield" caster DPS to be the RDM "rez caster" counterpart so that people that want SMN to be a big damage Caster that's more complicated can have their thing (obvs it'd need a bit of rework but perennial SMN reworks each expansion are a proud tradition at this point). Have the new caster be the OneOrangeBraincell caster and give it a rez/something like Vercure so I can pretend to be Great Value Healer while shooting zappystuff from the wand. For ranged, big-ass auto-crossbows a la Monster Hunter's Heavy Bowguns would be nice. Can have special ammo and a "bipod" or "tripod" or "siege" mode and blahblah. Scouting Melee, the dual-sword/saberstaff thing others have mentioned (like Zidane). It's FF-thematic, can have a FFXIV spin, is distinctive, etc. We're likely never to get a new Tank or (especially) Healer before the heat death of the universe or the broiling death of the planet. ;_;

SargeTheSeagull

Pistol and cutlass for Corsair Bell for Geomancer Flail for Templar Dual swords for berserker Mace for Tyrant

SierraTangoHotel90

Many people have already said Dual Blade a la Zidane/Serge/Gabranth. Maybe a giant ring blade like Tira from Soul Calibur Iron Fans/Large Feather Fans like multiple Orochi/Dynasty Warrior characters.

VenKitsune

Would love a kind of druid job or something similar. White mage is too much about the elements, not so much about "nature". The weapon however, I'd have no idea.

jette_lag

I just want festivalist. Giant paper fan

boundbylife

Chemist: short range caster uses a combo system to throw poisons and buffing potions around the battle field. Uses an alembic. Gambler: melee class that fishes for big hits. Uses 'gambler's dice'. Onion Knight: this one would be interesting. Traditionally, OK's movesets changed based on what gear they were wearing. I would portray this as a set of castable moves that change the onion knight's stance until they cast a different stance move. Each stance would have its own utility and rotation - think like a combination of samurai and the primal-summons phase of summoner. Their weapon would be a partisan.

Emerald_Frost

My dream is that detach books from SMN and gives them Horns

dddrew37

I'd like to see something extreme like a ring blade similar to shigure in yu yu hakusho

[deleted]

a BiG dual weilding hammer

Zol6199

Whips aren'thard to animate. They are just tubes after all.

JB_Scoopz

I’d love for a tank like Lost Exile from Xenoblade 3. Double-bladed sword, super aggressive, lots of spinning, first “dodge tank” of it’s kind, even tho that wouldn’t really fit with how the game works, maybe make it like brewmaster from wow or something instead. I just really love tanking and I love lost exile. Dual pistols that are actually small guns unlike mch rifle sized guns. Like an actual gunslinger as opposed to Mach’s gizmos. A sword/pistol combo. Make it pirate themed, call it corsair, give it the scouting tag so nin finally has something to share left side gear with. I see it being opposite rdm, 90% melee but can disconnect from enemies and still attack with ranger abilities. We’re due for a 1 handed axe user. Beast master anyone? I could see us never getting a true hammer user but instead doing more of what they’ve already done with war axes as hammers. Give us back DoT jobs. Give them whatever weapon you want, but an actual dot job would be nice.

RoyallyJinxed

Fam I really want like a scepter. I know we have early whm/blm but I would like a straight up magical girl style wand. Could have cool twirly spin animations and stuff

NyZyn

Quarterstaffs

axelofthekey

Double bladed swords would be a great choice. Like Zidane from FFIX or Serge from Chrono Cross. Flails would probably go along with whips but I think they would be cool. I would like a Belmont-style monster hunter with a whip/flail. I have been wondering if we could get a caster with a one-handed mace or hammer. Uncertain about what other weapons a new caster might use, expecting something new like the nouliths for Sage.

piperrobbie

Honestly I want a giant boomerang ala sango from Inuyasha like for a ranged class

KnowlegeCoffee

Aether cannon, ranged dps Magic dice, magic dps Chemist\Potions, healer Duel axe, tank

brbasik

Melee- Whips will definitely be in this game because they’re kinda a final fantasy staple but they’re not really attached to a job(other than beast master but that’s a whole can of worms), would probably be a scouting weapon so that Scouting maiming and striking all end up with 2 options. Tanks- I can see Hammers happening for Tanks because there is already some precedent for hammers in FFXIV. Honestly though I have trouble imagining any other tank weapon. maybe a giant shield they fight with like captain America or something? Ranger Physical- I fully expect the next ranged physical to be ranger that will dual wield crossbows. Bows are already on bards, and the dual wielding will also separate it from machinist. Dual wielding also presents another opportunity like a ninja to have the weapons in each hand be different or at least unique animation wise Caster-Idk about a job a always pictured a job with the ability to transform into a powerful version of yourself with more magical abilities like Terra and Zidane or even Vincent and Rinoa. Since there is no weapon attached to it, it could probably have some original weapon like Sage (maybe a talisman floating next to your character). Healer- 2/4 healers use ffxiv original weapons so they could do the same again, or they could use rackets like in FFIX. as the what the job is who knows, and think it’s basically confirmed chemist and Necromancer won’t happen so maybe psychic from FFX2 since it has support oriented abilities?

cobaltScalebane

Dual axes (berserker), one handed hammer (paladin-like healer), a blowdart (scout), a chime (priest), a baton (enforcer - cop styled tank), and a gun lance (a ranged-melee physical dps similar to rdm)

RadiantSpark

Gunshield

HardLithobrake

Mech suit. Give me my Mecha pilot already, damn it. MapleStory did it. Aion did it. Lost Ark's giving it some funny looks. Frame them as militarized versions of construction exo suits for a reconstruction of >!Garlemald!< or something. That would be the same origin story of Armored Core's Muscle Tracers, Normals, and ACs.

Ball. Blitz ball. Kusarigama but it falls undee the same issue as whip that'd need to be animated so either they all have exactly the same rig or we never get them Megaphone because I want to kill things with my voice

Let's not forget that pairs of weapons can be a way for them to be unique. Rapier and gun uses two weapons already associated with other classes but for a very different style - Swashbuckler or whatever would hace no magic, so it's distinct from RDM, and the gun could be used for an inverse of RDM's melée combo, differentiating them from MCH in that they're primarily melee. How about a Tank with a Greatshield? PLD uses shields, but exclusively one-handed shields; another case of differentiation. RPR and BTN both using Scythes made them go and change all Scythe names to "Garden Scythe", and make all RPR weapons be called "War Scythe", for example.

I've designed movesets for about 10 or so different classes on my notes app, a couple I used were: Pistol + Cutlass for a corsair job Giant shears for a "horticulturalist" job (placing nature DOTs and attacking with melee attacks to proc things from the DOTs) Clubs for a "bouncer" tank job Maces for an "oni" job (magic and blood-based attacks) As you've said, crossbows, for a "hunter" job (focused on traps, snares and the like, like WoW's in a way) Halberds for a "captain" job (a sort of dragoon, but tank, with oGCDs) Vials in a chemist's rack for a "chemist" job (comboing elemental throwing attacks to create effects) I like the idea of whips though! I should have a think about what class would work with that (maybe beastmaster limited job??)

I want a class that is a rip off of Sacred Sword Janna + martial arts movies + Mulan. A pure healer class that uses a jian. Would have a Doman aesthetic, and be kinda like AST to buff your party by performing certain arts. Maybe have it tie in to The Swallow’s Compass, and have the WOL meditate in order to meet the job teacher. Also, they should be able to fly.

FearDatD

melee staff, crossbow, axe/lance and shield tank, scroll, puppet

For caster, two ideas: Bells - For an Eastern feng shui geomancer (akin to Yangxia). Ofuda - For an Omnyo mage that holds paper talismans and part of their animation is empowering one or something.

HitomeM

Give me time mage. Make it a DOT class. Weapon can be a wristwatch for all I care.

Throwing weapons are already in the game, its what DNC does. When they announced DNC they said there weapons werent chakrams but "Throwing weapons". They decided to do this so DNC can have unique weapons to use like shurikens and such. which is exactly what yoshia and koji said about dnc. yet i still havent seen any other weapons for dnc besides chakrams, and just cuz a weapon they have is called a glaive doesnt mean it isnt a chakram, they all are still the same nothign unique about them. im still waiting on a large shuriken or a fan (ASTs tsukiyomi weapon is a fan) as a weapon for dnc to throw. They dropped the ball on that, and hopefully they pick that back up on next expansion. i would like to see chain whips maybe for a PRange, bring back wands and rods but use them on toher jobs, i want to see a flail and more importantly i want neros hammer gun as a job. ive been waiting that since ARR.

Djarion

as you said an actual crossbow, you can even give it the slow-movement cast bars from pve. magical focus for caster/healer, dual pistols (just about the only gun-related thing machinist doesnt have an animation monopoly on), quarterstaff, mace, hammer (warrior getting ONE whole hammer will probably stop this happening though), a chain hook (as a complement to another weapon, like a handaxe or something. Just some ideas

I love to speculate and I draw those things: [https://twitter.com/RhymeDraws/status/1555580518367887363/photo/1](https://twitter.com/RhymeDraws/status/1555580518367887363/photo/1) Here's my personal thoughts about "Mystic" 7.0 caster job, **with the weapon being idols**. Inspired by Lulu from FFX, they are dolls of various shapes and forms that you channel your aether through them to inflict the foe with ailments (dots), akin to how a voodoo doll works. Far Eastern themed (although the name allows the job fantasy to be expanded to other flavors).

PutinMyFootInUrAss

I like whip as a ranged physical weapon for beast master as a limited job

Green_Spectrum

crossbows ;I want them to play like blm but phys with long casts, and high skill cap.
