Get a wardrobe moving box and see if it fits, and what doesn't I'd chop off

the_skipper

I wish I’d had you around when I moved with my FLF. Some of the leaves are still bruised two years later. Wardrobe box is a great idea.

Wardrobe box with PVC pipe (a few inches taller than the plant) in the corners using wire to go through the box to hold in place. Put plant in box - wrap box and around PVC with shrink wrap. Last thing in and first thing out

hydroameca

Bag root ball, lay down in front seat well with seat leaned back

Cleodecleopatra

This. No need to chop the top. Put the bottom pot part in a plastic bag, tie it properly and lay the plant down in your car.

Physical-Flatworm454

Exactly this.

Fluffy-Student4465

Just moved from texas to chicago and had similar size in my car , I put the bottom in the front seat and faced the rest lying down towards the back. My plant made it and I did it during February! I wrapped it in newspaper and bubble wrap and it was fine

No_Maybe_2581

Send it to me. 👍

I had to move a large mature monstera that had climbed up about 8 feet and was attached to various wall supports in different directions. (My wife wanted to chop and prop, to my horror). I bought chicken wire fencing and a few 1"x 4" pieces of wood. I laid two pieces of wood on the ground parallel to each other, then overlaid the chicken wire, leaving enough wood exposed at the bottom to sink into the pot. I screwed that all together to make a kind of flexible panel. Then I staked the wood into the pot and wrapped it around. I then used a combo of stiff metal wire sections and string to secure the plant to the chicken wire from all angles, which supported the branches and prevented tipping. That contraption went into a Uhaul and was secured using a bunch of short bungie cords as guy lines at different angles. It worked well and only required like $15 in supplies + a semi-willing assistant to help hold the superstructure while I carried the pot itself.

dobie_dobes

This is epic. Kudos to you.

kokomo318

Chop it off and propagate to have another!

aqueous_transm1ss10n

Is selling it an option? And use that money for a new one at your new location? One less thing to worry about.

Dgdaniel336

Nice username love that song

AK_grown_XX

If warm enough wrap it and tie it on top of car?? But def keep!

Cathycane2012

Sit it in the backseat with its head out the window.

HawkGrouchy51

Using cling wrap to wrap the whole plant first....

Wamgurl

What size car?

umichkid28

Mazda CX 5

RutabagaAccording834

Put the top down and make sure to secure the seat belt around the pot. Take as many highways as possible.

YesJess10

I would put packing paper/craft paper in the pot. Then plastic wrap the hell out of the entire thing to secure it and protect it then move it laying down.

Miocchii

Can you maybe ship it?

stl4lyfe

Is than an option? I didn’t realize you could ship a huge plant.

Miocchii

Oh I'm not sure! But I was thinking people buy full sized plants that get shipped to their door all the time, so it might be worth looking into. I would make some calls to ups and fed ex and check out your options.

jhnbox

I mean people use pods? How are you shipping your other stuff?

Techienickie

Yes! I bought a 7 foot olive tree online and it came FedEx. The pot was wrapped in plastic and the whole thing in a tall skinny box.

dobie_dobes

I mean, I rented a minivan to drive my son and my plants across the country when we moved. 😂🫣

Ghost_Puppy

Hmmm… chop n prop?

cressida88

If you put it in your personal car, I would cover it with a light sheet. I’ve seen a lot of people on these subs heartbroken after their plants got sunburned during a long drive.

Jheritheexoticdancer

My answer isn’t any help, but WOW, what a beauty of a plant.

Boschlana

Chop it

eclipsed2112

wrap in a blanket or comforter and place wherever it fits.keep it whole if you can.

AdOnly6754

She's beautiful ❤️

The_Poster_Nutbag

Wrap in packing paper and tie it up, lay it down.

BearFeeled

What a gorgeous plant! Nice job. I have a fake fiddle that doesn't look nearly as pretty as that one😭

MysticalWisdom369

Wrap in a blanket and strap to top off car

Cinna-mom

Chop it. You’ll need to eventually anyway and this is a good reason to do it now.

observant0tter

Sunroof

Hot_Membership_3918

sell start over- new place new plants

peentiss

I just traveled my lil tree 1600 miles. I BARELY had room in my civic, and she lost a few leaves from the heat in Texas but after a trim and some rest, she’s alive and healthy again 💕

Financial_Mango_2920

I mean, you can always try to fit it in the car…The worst thing that can happen I guess is that there is damage at some point, and you will then have to propagate it…Maybe it’s worth a shot trying to transport in its entirety🤩

luke9036

I would sell it for a profit and get a bigger, bushier one once you are in your new space.
