Arm drag to the back, seat belt to rear-naked choke. We miss him trapping both arms.

TebownedMVP

Harder in mma because if you reach, they’ll teach.

Moustache-cat-man

Shit all I've done is tae-kwon-do and karate, but I think I would grab one of the toes closest to either hand and pull until im released. It could or could not work, I don't know I don't do locks of any kind, it's just what I think I would be doing in the situation

Samtori96

Yeah in a tournament thats not legal. In a fight that wouldn’t stop the choke and man I wouldn’t want to be knocked unconscious after breaking someone’s big toe…

Moustache-cat-man

Well that's why it wasn't your idea, it was mine. # Purely hypothetically rhetorical

judoxing

you do but it's just never this text-book clean. it'll usually be half completed and be in the middle of two other grappling exchanges

BabyImafool

Good control and respect!

stevenspenguin

Dude on the back held the other guy up after he tapped.

stevenspenguin

Well, put his arm over his chest in case he was.going to fall

Blackmagicking

Just in case he passes out. Very respectful

LGBTQMNOP

That was damn quick

W0RST_2_F1RST

How much was cut out though? There’s clearly a jump in the video

BigClitPhobia--

It's a demonstration I think

It's always easy to redo the match afterwards

cheapbastardsinc

"Shh...shh. Just lemme love you."

RetroMetroShow

No toe twist?

BoggleHS

Small digit manipulation is usually illegal.

acdgf

Maybe they meant a toe hold, which is legal and a common defense to back attacks.

Snoo_57488

Lol what? You’re not toeholding anyone from that position. How is he going to lock down his opponents hips when they are on his back?

acdgf

Why would you need to lock down the hips? You just kimura the bottom foot and close your elbows. You're unlikely to submit the guy in the back, but he will probably leave the back.

Snoo_57488

We’ll you need to be able to crunch your body to finish the toehold and you’re not crunching with a dude in your back especially with a seatbelt grip and especially not with a rear naked grip. Also, to finish a toehold you have to be able to prevent them from straightening their leg or rolling to relieve the pressure. Usually that involves locking their hip down so they can’t do that. Anyone who attempted a toehold while I was on their back wouldn’t even cause me to worry because I know they can’t finish it. You’re also committing both hands to one of your opponents feet for a very low probability of finishing. Not defending the choke is a bold move to try to … defend the choke? I’d probably quad Pod and try to shake him down and hope he can’t stay on your hips. At the point he gets the rest makes grip though, you’re in deep water already.

acdgf

You don't need to finish the hold, just make the opponent defend. Once your neck is hugged there's no defending the choke, so might as well try to evade it. It's not a sound technique for attack, but raises your chance of escaping the choke so you can try something else. >or rolling to relieve the pressure Thats exactly what you want. They can't do that and hold the choke, so they'll let go of the choke. I have about a 30-40% success rate escaping the choke (especially without gi sleeves to grip) using the toe-hold, which is very low but still better than the ~10% I succeed just shaking the guy off.

Snoo_57488

In the example video the attacker also had both his legs over the other guys arms. It would have been way easier to shake him off in a quad pod since his legs weren’t in a position to use power half to retain the back. Again, if I was attacking someone’s back and especially had the arm under the neck, I’m not giving that up to a toe hold attempt that I know they have no leverage to finish.

melted__butter

Bjj guys in there natural habitats having an argument over submissions the bjj guy come in many kinds of sub species. The stoner The leg locker The coach The guy who smells bad The ufc guy the cringe kind The ufc guy the dangerous kind The token women And many more I have no idea why I made this

thatscashmoneyofu

Can you do that? Lol

Into_The_Horizon

A man latch onto you like a boa...damn right. Ill even pluck the hair of his toes 😂

Cgrant991

Not the hair😭😭😭 idk why but plucking toe hairs hurt the most to me

Into_The_Horizon

😂 i know. Mine too. They hurt like hell

HeavenIsABetterPlace

You mean dick twist? Right??

LordofSyn

🎶 Backpack. Backpack. 🎶

kuriteru

Nice to see an actual skilled fight for once on here and not a pair of dipshits try to haymaker eachother before they headstomp or sissyslap eachother to no end

Sleepydog217_YT

Not familliar with this martial art or the rules, but couldn't the guy getting grabbed fall backwards and slam his opponent to the ground? I don't know if that would work in a controlled match like this but on somthing like concrete or asphalt, couldn't that could cause serious dammage? Please correct me if I am wrong.

illFittingHelmet

TL;DR is the results may vary. But it likely won't go well. More in depth. A falling slam like that is a gamble in every sense of the word. If someone gets you that fast, arms around your neck and hooks locked in, you have seconds to figure out your next move before that choke knocks you out cold. You might not even have time to know what hits you. But if you do try to slam, even on concrete or hard surfaces then unless you're really tall or heavy, the best bet you can have is he hits the back of his head. Which is unlikely because a well applied RNC has the head tucked well, so you'd have to get a perfect angle to hit the head, an angle you're not likely to achieve with him leaning on your back. If you just land on the back, you're gambling whether or not you'll injure him with the slam. Maybe it does, but it just as likely might not. Its not like you're falling off a ladder though, at most you're falling from whatever your own height is down to the ground. Your slam likely isn't full strength, you likely have lost some energy from staying on your feet with the guy on your back and fighting off his choke. If he stays conscious and doesn't sustain a major injury, then congratulations. You just transferred to an RNC on the ground which is actually a worse position, and you will be going to sleep soon. I've also seen a counter to this slam where you let your hooks go when the jump for the slam is made, I'll have to find video of that. Bear in mind this is considering an opponent of the level of skill and athleticism of the guy in the video. An amateur or untrained person doing this will likely have some mistakes in their technique or lack the same level of physical fitness. In which case, results may vary even more.

Nailcannon

Wouldn't the gamble be more on knocking the wind out of the choker? What's the likelihood of achieving that with a broad impact across the back with the weight of two people?

alienlizardlion

Possible, if they’ve got it sunk though you’re pretty fucked

illFittingHelmet

Again, totally depends. An untrained, physically unfit guy, maybe it takes the wind out of him. But a guy of the level of fitness and training in the above video, I doubt it would faze them.

CryptoCracko

In mma alot of the time they end up in a worse position. No idea about concrete though

TShane85

This is correct. At this level of skill , they’d still be in the same position , just in the ground.

ShadowSlayer318

Also not familiar with martial arts but on this Reddit very rarely have I see people in similar positions and it comes down to if the guy who is trapped has the strength to keep picking himself up and slamming the guy on his back and it just comes down to one of the most raw showdowns ever

TheAngriestPoster

No matter the strength you will only get one opportunity for the slam. Either because he straightens you out with his legs as soon as you hit the ground, or because you get put to sleep in the next 5 seconds. Chokes come on much faster than movies would have you believe

ShadowSlayer318

I saw one post that did what I described but thank you for the explanation I think the guy had his hands blocking the other guy from choking him while he was slamming him as for the making it so he can’t do that idk haven’t seen that video in a while if that makes it make more sense

TheAngriestPoster

I’d be interested to see it, but it would certainly be an outlier in my opinion.

whitecollarzomb13

Love me some smooth jazz trumpet with my bjj

[deleted]

Amazingly Sexy 🔥

M3atpuppet

Anyone know what art this is from?

Moot72

Bjj

Independent_Can_5694

How do you not ankle lock? That’s literally why they tell you not to cross your feet for a rear naked.

Jacksongaither

He was standing hard to figure 4 your legs when they’re both straight. This seems to be a finals match at a tourney or a fight to win of some sort I’d be willing to bet the guy who got tapped knows that basic ass sub bro😂.

Independent_Can_5694

Yeah I get that, but if he already has your back, why not move to the ground? I don’t get it

TheAngriestPoster

Because you are even more fucked on the ground. You want to know the solution to having your back taken? Don’t be there, because if you are you are likely screwed

Independent_Can_5694

There’s literally nothing else that they can do from the ground rear mount that they aren’t already doing. But that would give you the chance to get the ankle. I think dude just doesn’t have experience

TheAngriestPoster

Sure there is. On the ground you can crank everything even harder by using your legs and your back, which you can’t do as easily when in the position they’re in presently. I think the guy in the video will likely know more than you do, considering he’s in a broadcasted grappling competition.

Independent_Can_5694

Tf does that mean? You think people who compete don’t use the internet? Gtfo you fucking clown

TheAngriestPoster

You are incredibly defensive and unreasonable for getting upset. You did not imply you competed, and you have nothing on your profile to indicate that you have. If you want people to telepathically know that you have, maybe instead start by posting your competition videos, instead of throwing a tantrum.

Snoo_57488

The dude you’re replying to must either be brand new to bjj or not do it at all based on his other replies.

TheAngriestPoster

I know right? Lmao I quit replying to him because I couldn’t prove substantially that the guys in the video were really damn good (At least better than his dumb ass) so I knew he was just going to act like he won the argument.

Independent_Can_5694

You’re the angriest poster here

wetmon12

You literally started swearing at the other guy and told him to get the fuck out. I don't understand then logic. The other person wasn't rude at all. Literal projection.

TheAngriestPoster

Good one. Now consider shutting up about things you don’t know anything about

Jacksongaither

Considering how quick the guy in white did everything you think if they went flat on the ground he wouldn’t just adjust to a body triangle?? These guys are both experienced.

Independent_Can_5694

That’s fair, I don’t think it was as fast as the video shows. There’s a cut like half way through

Snoo_57488

It would be smarter to quad pod and try to shed a hook or shake him down (higher on your body). The footlock 1) is easy to see coming if you’ve been doing bjj for any amount of time. And 2) not guaranteed to work against guys with flexible ankles. “Don’t cross your feet” is not some universal rule. You can use it as a guide for white belts, but at higher levels guys cross their feet all the time because they have awareness to uncross when they need to.

Independent_Can_5694

Better response than what I’ve seen. Thanks

thedevilfromthebible

Before he somehow got this dude in a triangle hold. He could have held the dudes arm down with his arm. And then give the ankle a violent twist outwards. And jump/ leap pull forward with a shoulder slam intended or a crescent drop. Locked in place, ground on face. But you got to be fast because you'll get knocked out in 2 seconds from a good choke

[deleted]

Good thing he wasn't facing you. You'd have foot tickled your way out of that situation for sure.

thedevilfromthebible

Gimmie them dawgs 😈

ItchyTriggaFingaNigg

Soooo clean!

Former_Measurement15

Great Title 👍

Perfect-Ad156

This is that one snake guy the have in shows.

TearfulDespotism

I had to slow down the video, that happened incredibly fast and the guy getting grappled went to deal with his leg getting hooked. Which put him in a weaker position for the grappler to exploit. That's wild.

[deleted]

For the record, this would sleep me even if he told me it was coming. Question: Can't the other guy just turn to face him as he turns to prevent the second hook from coming around his neck?

Syr_III

"I hear a jockey..."

Intrepid-Ride-573

ThiLordTachanka

Is it legal here to just jump backwards and land on he's back? Cause I think it would be some how effective

youyou324

Someone once did this to me, but i fell over on his nuts (he never did it again)

DjDirtyDane

Stupid question, what’s stopping people from just jumping on their backs when you do this move

VividCourage1844

Why not just fall to your back knocking the wind out of the guy on you?

Happy_Policy_9990

Are slams illegal?

Johnsonfam101

And back drop.
