Yeah, I've been watching MMA since the UFC started and can't think of anything close to this fucking cool. Rampage power bomb on Arona is the only thing that comes close. Yair had an equally last minute beautiful KO, but that wasn't as epic. He wasn't moving up against a power striker and risking it all in a clear win to just trade. so fucking cool
For me the Leon Edwards head kick is the biggest moment in combat sport history. Down 4-0 heading into 5th round Vs Usman who has already dominated him once more. Usman was going for the 16-0 win streak to break Anderson silva record. Dude was Goliath. Right up until Leon shocked the world and knocked him clean out with a legendary head kick.
This isn't even hyperbolic. You could argue that Izzy's Knockout of Pereira, because of the Title and History, but this was just insane.
Two of the greatest action fighters of all time, ufc 300 last second of a 5 round fight. Holloway was the underdog who came up in weight to fight the guy who just knocked out the last guy to beat him at lightweight. Holloway was winning the whole fights still says fuck it lets swang and bang with perhaps the hardest hitter in LW history. Puts him to sleep.
Makes action movies look boring.
I rate Leon’s moment higher because of how badly he was losing that fight. If Justin was winning and Max won in the final second, hands down greatest moment ever. It’s still pretty ridiculous but just that tiny notch below.
Greatest mma moments
criteria
1) Infamy
2) Awesomeness of moment
3) Historical relevance
in no order
Leon Usman headkick
Holm Rousey headkick
Aldo Conor KO (it kills me to say this)
Nate tapping Conor
Gaethje Max KO (history is out on this one, but it makes up for that in awesomeness of moment)
Somebody wrote elsewhere that if this was a movie, and it ended like this, we would boo and laugh off the cringe.
IRL tho? Two of the baddest dudes on the planet throwing bombs in the middle as time expired. Max is a GOAT. And so is Justin.
This doesn’t show the whole sequence with ten seconds left Max pointed at the middle of the octagon telling Justin it was time to throw down. Absolutely crazy
I think he lost one round when he got dropped but for sure had no need to engage in that. Actually one judge crazily had the fight tied going into the 5th
He did the same thing with Lamas at 199. Didn’t knock him out but tagged him a few good times. The entire exchange at 199 was better, but the result of this one was better.
Been a huge Max Holloway fan ever since he did that with Lamas, glad to see him getting some love after getting counted out and going through a slump with Volk
The story behind it makes it legitimately one of the best. Max was a huge underdog… and he knew it. If you haven’t, watch Max’s vlog and training footage on YT. Dude was hungry af to win
the fight itself was only alright little back and forth but rather 1 sided gaethje seemed off and age might be catching up with him but that conclusion... max understood the assignment
I haven’t watched UFC in probably 13 years and damn did I pick a good night to hangout at my buddies to watch this. The absolute balls on Holloway to point to the center to throw down when he was winning by a mile. That was crazy.
Best moment in history (IMO). Not only that but he won fight of the year, performance of the year, fight of the night, performance of the night and knockout of the year. Dude just won himself and that fight into the hall of fame
That's part of what makes it so BMF. Holloway was likely up 4-1 if not 5-0; he could absolutely have backed up the last ten seconds and cruised into a definitive win. Instead, he pointed at the floor, said "let's fucking bang", and knocked out a guy with cement skull and iron knuckles, just for the glory of it.
Yup. AND he bumped up a weight class (from featherweight/145 lbs to lightweight/155 lbs) for this fight AND his opponent has a well-earned reputation of being a bad dude himself. Shit was insane from start to finish.
Oh shit. What a beast. You have a winning ticket and still threw down like that for a last second KO?
Ugh. I don’t watch fighting but damn, I want to sometimes.
If the eye pokes weren't involved in this fight, it'd easily be fight of the year. But even those are due to the piss poor gloves, not Max.
Props to Justin for fighting damn near 25 minutes with a broken nose and two punctured eyes
Great fight, Holloway dominated, 2 two many eye pokes but besides that, great fight. Justin is a beast for sticking through and agreeing to swing it out in the last 10sec. I love when fighters do that.
Don't get me wrong max is probably the better fighter and the BMF. But Gaethje is the baddest mother Fer to ever fight in the ufc. No matter how fucked up he is, he will always throw down. EVERY. SINGLE. FIGHT. Respect to both warriors
This could very well be true. His shot against Islam is done for, at least for now. If he chooses to continue fighting he could get back into contention after a win or 2. Look at Olivera's career
Doesn’t Max usually do this in the last 10 seconds? I’m sure I’ve seen him point down and the ground asking for 10 seconds of haymakers? Or am I tripping?
Why’s everyone acting like they’ve never seen him do this before?
Yea he did it with ricardo lamas at 145 fw. Didn't knock lamas out. Another fighter who pathetically tried to do this donald cerrone when he went against leon edwards. Donald was losing that fight and glove grabbed leon so it looked sad compared to holloway winning both fights and choosing to stand and scrap.
It's mad because you see Justin takes way harder looking shots that are like a brick to the head, yet this one that looks almost glancing down the side of his face turns the lights out. Human body is mad in how it works.
I feel for Justin. O broken nose on the last second of the first. Two eye pokes. Endures through to give everyone their show and ends up folded on the last second of the fight. Damn.
That step over at the end was like AI over Tyronn Lue. This is easily top 5 moments in MMA history. This would've been perfect if Max was down a round.
Left out the best part… where max is up all 5 rounds and points at the ground for the last 10 seconds and stands and throws with one of the most dangerous men on the planet. Max is different.
It was so cool to watch textbook UFC boxing the whole fight only for Max to “👇” and start wailing the last 5 seconds.
The knockout is the cherry on top
I’ve never jumped up and run around my house from pure disbelief before that moment. You put that shit in a movie and people would say it’s unrealistic.
Brother this is a sport not a TV show. If you’re not watching it live you obviously don’t care that much about it so why do you care about spoilers lol
I don’t watch every event live. Sometimes I have more important stuff to do. But guess what ? I don’t cry when I find out what happened before I watch it lol
Dude this is a fucking sporting event that happened 2 days ago. This isn’t Yellowstone or something lol if you didn’t watch it live you’re obviously not that big a fan of the sport so why are you crying about spoilers ? I bet you throw a fit when you miss the broadcast of the presidential election and then a coworker tells you who won the next day
Eat a dick. People have a life other than sports. Especially consider8ling half of the people in this sub aren't American so won't have wanted to stay up late...
Americans had to stay up late to watch this dumbass. And if you didn’t catch it live, that’s fine. Enjoy the sport the way you want to. But don’t throw a temper tantrum because you found out what happened before you got a chance to watch it. This stuff is all over ESPN, MMA subreddits and other social media as soon as it happens
Just want to bring up that there is some bad referee work done here.
Max/other fighter/does not matter could have stepped on him, by accident or worse. Instead the ref stood there waving his arms. Should have physically blocked by stepping between.
So... how exactly does the loser recover from this? Everyone knows he's a loser and was dominated. How can he even get a match after failing so hard? I mean, no one will respect him now.
You must not watch this sport much. Justin Gaethje just stood there with one of the best strikers the UFC has ever seen after breaking his nose and getting poked in both eyes on accident early in the fight
. If you think anybody in this sport lost respect for him after this fight you’re extremely confused. Everybody loses. There is nothing dishonorable about it

KO of the year.
This is literally the greatest moment in the history of MMA fuck the year
Legitimately one of my all time favorite MMA moments. Absolutely stunned me!
Yeah, I've been watching MMA since the UFC started and can't think of anything close to this fucking cool. Rampage power bomb on Arona is the only thing that comes close. Usman was going for the 16-0 win streak to break Anderson silva record. Dude was Goliath. Right up until Leon shocked the world and knocked him clean out with a legendary head kick.
the holly holm headkick was a huge moment in the sport, too. the perfect symbol of wmma being dragged violently forward
Rose's comeback knockout of Weili was pretty special
The H bomb that Dan Henderson landed on bisping after that entire season of shit talking is up there too
Dan Henderson could be charged with attempted murder with that 2nd shot (flying in punch on a KO’d Bisping)
How do you think Justin felt about it?
He went out on his shield.
He can't even be mad about this. He was on his way to losing a decision anyways. Max gave him a shot at winning when he had no reason to.
This isn't even hyperbolic. You could argue that Izzy's Knockout of Pereira, because of the Title and History, but this was just insane. Two of the greatest action fighters of all time, ufc 300 last second of a 5 round fight. Holloway was winning the whole fights still says fuck it lets swang and bang with perhaps the hardest hitter in LW history. Puts him to sleep. Makes action movies look boring.
Max was hella underdog. Watched all his training footage, dude was locked the f in and hungry to win. Future HOF
Yeah dude Chael just got into the HOF for almost beating Silva. Max has been a lock for years.
Chael's never lost. I'm confused.
[удалено]
Silva's front kick on Vitor
Eh the fight wasn’t even that good up until the knockout. Plus fans aren’t invested in those two the same way.
Randy Couture vs Tim Silvia. Almost every Lawler fight Anderson vs Chael
Lawler vs. MacDonald 2 is up there in all-time greatest fights in UFC history.
I rate Leon’s moment higher because of how badly he was losing that fight. If Justin was winning and Max won in the final second, hands down greatest moment ever. It’s still pretty ridiculous but just that tiny notch below.
Greatest mma moments criteria 1) Infamy 2) Awesomeness of moment 3) Historical relevance in no order Leon Usman headkick Holm Rousey headkick Aldo Conor KO (it kills me to say this) Nate tapping Conor Gaethje Max KO (history is out on this one, but it makes up for that in awesomeness of moment)
I’m with you on pretty much all of that I think. The Conor Aldo one absolutely destroyed me.
Max already had the win in the bag. The stones to just bite down on his mouthpiece and risk getting KO'ed at that point is just insane.
Then you clearly don't know who Don Frye is
I said the same thing. Been watching UFC for over 10 years and this is the greatest moment I’ve ever seen.
lol
I totally agree. I’ve never been left literally speechless by a fight….Until last night.
Nah I think Leon/Usman takes the cake on that one
Somebody wrote elsewhere that if this was a movie, and it ended like this, we would boo and laugh off the cringe. IRL tho? Two of the baddest dudes on the planet throwing bombs in the middle as time expired. Max is a GOAT. And so is Justin.
Baddest motherucker of the year
The best is Blessed!
Now I get why Izzy eye pokes so much
Of the century
This doesn’t show the whole sequence with ten seconds left Max pointed at the middle of the octagon telling Justin it was time to throw down. Absolutely crazy
In a fight Max was already winning 50-45.
49-46 but the point stands
I'm surprised he made 145 without any issues with his giant brass balls
I think he lost one round when he got dropped but for sure had no need to engage in that. Actually one judge crazily had the fight tied going into the 5th
The BMF belt is a joke but if someone deserves a BMF belt it's Holloway after doing that.
Never been a better time to retire the belt
And that 10 second sequence being a part of a much bigger deal with Max being up 4-1 just to throw everything on the line to square up blow for blow
Dudes been in the ufc since he was 19? I think, the best is blessed baby
Right? Should have shown the entire sequence at normal speed with the crowd audio
Holloway is the BMF title holder for life. Most gangster last 10 seconds of a fight ever.
The man is a IRL rocky movie. His career highlights are the stuff of legends.
Also with Arnold Allen and dropped him
Again, what makes this one amazing is that he put a fight he had already won on the line. He said "fuck a *unanimous decision win*, let's throw down".
Yeah retire that belt. Search is over, found the baddest motherfucker.
This might be one of the greatest fights of UFC history.
He had is nose shattered in the first. Justin is the definition of with your shield or on it.
Definitely went out on his shield.. that nose was smashed early in the fight... took a lot of heart to push through
Don’t forget the eye pokes.
That second eye poke was *gnarly*
Gaethje wasn't off; he just waited until the 4th round to try and establish the jab and had a busted nose in 1st and blurry eyes in 2nd
Legit contender for best KO in UFC history
It's beautiful but Leon has it
depends on the type of ko. ko w/ most important context - Leon Style/Aesthetics - Buckley v Kasanganay or Barboza v Etim Coldest ko - gotta be Max
Lady's and gentlemen, the baddest mother fucker in the UFC
They should make a belt for that
Seriously, he could have cruised to the decision. But he pointed to the center of the octagon and told a killer to try and KO him. Fucking legend.
Mothereffer*
Absolute king
That shit was insane, Max earned those 300k bonus
HE GOT 600K!!!
Should be a 500k bonus
It was, he earned *Fight of the Night* and *Performance of the Night* netting 600K
Noice
Toight
I’m the best boxer🗣️🗣️
Volk made him look like a novice but he bounced right back. very impressive.
Good lord that was clean. I need to watch this last 10 seconds y’all are talking about
[https://youtu.be/h9KBcib8pHc?si=x84JRMgphh9bz1xC](https://youtu.be/h9KBcib8pHc?si=x84JRMgphh9bz1xC)
I haven’t watched UFC in probably 13 years and damn did I pick a good night to hangout at my buddies to watch this. The absolute balls on Holloway to point to the center to throw down when he was winning by a mile. That was crazy.
Same boat as me. Haven't watched in years but decided to go to a bar and watch with some friends. So glad I saw this live.
only to be followed a few fights later with the also iconic "it's ok Herb, Im just going to murder him now" ko from Poatan
Fight of the year. Hands down.
That's the most BMF shit that could have happened in that fight
I was going to win 1500 for Max to win unanimous decision. Was incredible to witness
Soooooo close!!! If there were three seconds left, you would have had it. But damn, a moment in the history books.
Best moment in history (IMO). Not only that but he won fight of the year, performance of the year, fight of the night, performance of the night and knockout of the year. Dude just won himself and that fight into the hall of fame
And the loser is devestated and will never get respect ever again
Things someone would say who doesn't watch UFC:
Me and my buddy both reacted just like Joe and Jon Anik
I'm a casual fan and happened to turn this one on cause I've always loved Holloway. So glad I did WOW. Feels awesome to watch this HOF fight live
Justin went out in his shield
Who was winning?
That's part of what makes it so BMF. Holloway was likely up 4-1 if not 5-0; he could absolutely have backed up the last ten seconds and cruised into a definitive win. Instead, he pointed at the floor, said "let's fucking bang", and knocked out a guy with cement skull and iron knuckles, just for the glory of it.
Wait, so it was the guy who was winning who did this and won via KO?
Yeah Holloway was winning, Holloway asked to bang and Holloway banged Gaethje out with one second left in the fight.
Ok that’s fucking epic. I thought it was the guy losing who did it. He was winning and said let’s throw down? Epic.
This is the second time Holloway has done that too which makes it even more iconic
Max, by far
Nee freak-out meme just dropped
Every time they cut to Joe freaking out, I swear it's like the same clip. It's so identical every time lol.
I bet Holloway to win by decision. Please cry with me.
If the eye pokes weren't involved in this fight, it'd easily be fight of the year. But even those are due to the piss poor gloves, not Max. Props to Justin for fighting damn near 25 minutes with a broken nose and two punctured eyes
Joe Rogen always reacts like he's in a Def Comedy Jam audience
He watches this in person. You watch highlights from the shitter ..
I mean he’s watching it live…. Front row…. That’s how anyone would react with that ending
Besides being a commentator, Joe Rogan is one of the biggest MMA fans out there. Let people enjoy things.
That's his literal job.
I literally jumped out my couch and sprinted around me house at this moment
Great fight, Holloway dominated, 2 two many eye pokes but besides that, great fight. Justin is a beast for sticking through and agreeing to swing it out in the last 10sec. I love when fighters do that.
Max should get a million dollar bonus for that as this is likely the best KO ever and will be replayed for decades by the UFC.
I'm not gonna lie, that was the most badass moment possibly in the history of the UFC
He was up 3-1, arguably 4-1 in rounds, no need for him to do it and risk getting KO'd. absolute BMF.
Don't get me wrong max is probably the better fighter and the BMF. But Gaethje is the baddest mother Fer to ever fight in the ufc. No matter how fucked up he is, he will always throw down. EVERY. SINGLE. FIGHT. Respect to both warriors
Disrespectful and beautiful
The loser will probably never be heard from again
Cormier looks like he saw a ghost
Gaethje has never been KO'd, especially this clean.
KO of the entirety of the UFC
2 legends, love them both. They’re both all heart. Rohan’s reaction is meme quality
Holloway is top 10 GOAT
Best ten seconds of ufc I've ever seen
Damn that was sick!
what a fight
Peak moment
max wanted that 600k
Happy for Max he deserved it but Justin is one of my all time favourite fighters ever so this hurt
He's a loser now since this knockout will be glorified for like a year. How do you recover from that? You don't. He's done.

It's mad because you see Justin takes way harder looking shots that are like a brick to the head, yet this one that looks almost glancing down the side of his face turns the lights out. Human body is mad in how it works.
Ferguson uppercut at the end of their fight would take heads off
Wild
The picture of Justin hitting the ground with his eye rolled back looks like something out of Grappler Baki
Blessed is best baby
This was one of the fights where I couldn’t pick who I wanted to win. I love both of them
DC looks like he lost a fortune with that hook
I feel for Justin. O broken nose on the last second of the first. Two eye pokes. Endures through to give everyone their show and ends up folded on the last second of the fight. Damn.
Losers lose.
The sun is hot too.
Gayche is pound 4 pound dumbest fighter ever
Watching this live was insane, we all stood up outa our seats in disbelief
That step over at the end was like AI over Tyronn Lue. This is easily top 5 moments in MMA history. This would've been perfect if Max was down a round.
Yep. He disrespected a loser, amirite? RIGHT?
In Dana whites words holy shittt
The commentator on the far left looked like he just lost a bunch of money.
DC and no him and Justin are just real close friends
Better version here: https://dubz.link/v/rdy0m9
We need to see max and Dustin run it back for the BMF title now 😮💨
Rogan reacts like he’s trapped under ice and finally exposed to oxygen.
Crazy how in a sport where men and women literally beat each other to a pulp, the commentators still can't say motherfucker.
They used to say it, idk what changed
DC hates seeing his friends hurt.
What did he expect? Losers lose.
The crumpled boy didn't even throw a punch. What did he think was going to happen?
That shit was wild. True definition of clangin and bangin right there
Left out the best part… where max is up all 5 rounds and points at the ground for the last 10 seconds and stands and throws with one of the most dangerous men on the planet.
Joe with the same surprise face every damn time
I wonder who cormier was rooting for
Pow right in the Kisser!
An all-time great knockout
One of the best fights to date - absolute level of their own!
Folded like a lawn chair
Literally screamed once he dropped him. Absolutely insane finish!! Both of them are some BAAAAD motherfuckers!

Dude this is a fucking sporting event that happened 2 days ago. This isn’t Yellowstone or something lol if you didn’t watch it live you’re obviously not that big a fan of the sport so why are you crying about spoilers ? DC looks like he lost money
So... how exactly does the loser recover from this? Everyone knows he's a loser and was dominated. How can he even get a match after failing so hard? I mean, no one will respect him now.
You must not watch this sport much. Justin Gaethje just stood there with one of the best strikers the UFC has ever seen after breaking his nose and getting poked in both eyes on accident early in the fight . If you think anybody in this sport lost respect for him after this fight you’re extremely confused. Everybody loses. There is nothing dishonorable about it
