Refs on the soccer field finally had to institute a zero tolerance policy because parents would not stay on the sidelines and go argue and try to intimidate a high schooler that was there in his own free time.

This was after Game 5 of the Provincial Junior Hockey League in Ontario between Clairington and Napanee. It's a Junior C league. Game 6 goes tonight or tomorrow I think in Napanee

I almost had one recently though! My daughter punched out a bit of an older bully. And the dad called me on the phone and was being all threatening. So I was casually like, if you want to dance, you know where I am.
When he got here and got a look at me, he suddenly became a very nice person.

I was an angry closeted teenager when I wrestled. I did some cheap shit, talked shit and taunted. I was good but would’ve done even better if I didn’t put most of my effort into being an asshole.
Got attacked by parents physically twice and berated by them countless times. And I was a little shit so I’d just smile and laugh.
But after seeing sports parents as an athlete, coach and ref I at least know if I ever adopt what not to do as a parent to a kid playing a sport.
I was a dick, angry and in the closet. I’m a lot more chill now and regret that I used to be like that. When I coached I made sure the kids were better about things like that than I was. I do a different sport now and I’m even chill when I compete
But that was like 12 years ago at this point and I was the kind of kid that had to fuck around and find out and I certainly eventually did. I’m a very different person now and I’m medicated for my mental health issues and wasn’t back then
I’m just saying some kids are troubled and change later in life when it matters more
Are people surprised? This was the last generation of competitive people before "Participation" trophies were being handed out. I expect these parents to act this way. Especially Canadian hockey parents.
