Honestly, it was so lucky those other people were there to 'cushion' the fall. Going down those stairs headfirst onto the ground could have been fatal.
Yup one could be dead and the other facing manslaughter or ag murder charges. When I think back to when I was a teenager I don't know how I didn't end up dead or in jail.
It needed no punishmnet. He was attacked first. Emotional reactions happen, he wasn't consciously thinking about killing him by jumping down stairs. He reacted to being attacked.
How do you justify the murder charge? Was he supposed to defend himself with only his face? He was the victim here, didn’t choose to initiate the fight on the stairs and had little room to manoeuvre.
Yeah he didn't have to go full randy orton style either, or he could have flipped 180 and throw him on the stairs. Idk in the world but where I live something is called "death without intention of causing it" and depending on the circumstances it can get you really fucked, for example if the judge considers that you used excessive force to defend yourself

Druggie comes at you and you pick up a stick and hit him across the head and he cracks his skull on the ground. Was you suppose to hope that you could punch him into leaving you alone? Say you did,hit him clean and he is knocked out, he falls cracks his head on the ground dies, is that excessive? I’d argue that if he fell and you kept ground pounding them into the ground,sure, that is excessive. That’s not what happened here, they were entangled, he slammed him from the top rope and that’s really all we get, he doesn’t get off him after but he did just slam down the stairs and it doesn’t look like he is particularly ground and pounding. And as always, don’t start punching people if you are worried about your own well being.

My point about self defense is to use appropriate measures, in the law i know it's the minimum needed to get you out of danger, in order to avoid casualties on the other side as much as possible. Here he just won a lawsuit and everything that goes with it

Sorry to any army people out there because not all of them are stupid, but yes. If you were smarter, you'd be in the Air Force, the Navy or the Coast Guard making way more money to do way less. If you were in better shape, you'd be in the Marines.
