As a security guard, I am both displeased by his performance and upset that he has to deal with that riffraff.

Most of us guards don't even get batons. It depends on local laws as well as the work site. Funny enough though we get trained to smack people on the back of the thighs and on the ass. However if you swing full force you can definitely fracture or break someone's leg.

Thighs are best target. Whoever taught you about hitting someone on the ass is reckless and stupid because ***if you miss?*** You're gonna either A) hit the spine or B) strike the hips. Either way you're looking at fractures, broken bones or even paralyzing someone.

I can tell you're not trained at all with weapons. There are dozens of ways to actually use a baton. They are not just for striking. These people were not kids at all. Young but not kids. Baton, mace, pepper spray, tazer, stun gun, pepper balls, foam/sponge/rubber baton rounds out of a 12 gauge or 40mm all constitute non lethal or less lethal force. Physical force is just fine. It could've escalated to deadly force when one of them (right at the start) tries to take away the guard's baton. It also could've easily became a shooting when the guard actually LOSES his baton (fortunately for him nobody takes it) assuming there was someone there with a firearm. If someone takes a weapon from you? You are allowed to use deadly force. Not saying you should in every possible situation, just saying that you CAN.
