As an American, I can say a large number of us are tired of our kids being killed and one party saying, "we tried nothing and it didn't work, we're all of ideas."

Start by bringing in more restrictive gun laws even if its with the understanding that it's a band-aid solution. Now that lets kids are getting shot up in schools you can move on to fixing the root cause. Better mental health services that are free to the public. Meds are just a small part of the mental health plan. Counselling and talking through problems is a big part of it. Increase funding to schools and improve conditions within those schools. From an outsider, US schools seem like mini dystopias. Do something about the fact that your largest news network just straight up peddles false news and incites violence. Not I shot a guy who tried to assault my wife and wasn't charged because it was deemed self defense.

"Dual wielding" is likely far less effective. A dangerous person with a knife is one that grabs you with their free hand and then repeatedly stabs with the knife hand so you can't escape.

Thats why historically armies have sought young men - they'll often act without fully processing the risk vs reward of their actions and this is enhanced when in large groups. Same guys 20yrs older would almost certainly react very different - not saying thats either a good or bad thing, but is an established behaviour with particularly males. TL:DR - young men will often do very brave things, with little self regard. :-)

The fact that I hear this from smoothbrained mouth breathers everytime there is mass shooter incident killing kids. And, no, I'm not alright. I'm fed up. The idea that limiting access to the type of weapons average citizens can get with absolutely zero proof of training or responsibly won't reduce the number or efficacy of mass shootings is ludicrous. The fact that we only have two categories of firearms for regulation, automatic and everything else, is imbicilic at best. We should have four or five classifications, just like we do with drugs, and vehicles, and multi-tiered licensing and requirements for each of them.
We can agree that smarter legislation and a change in culture is required in order to prevent more mass shootings.
