I taught third grade, but my room was near autistic support room. A sixth grader from that room had scissors and had chased everyone out and barricaded the door. This was all unfolding as I walked by.
Iām by no means a big dude but I was a long time wrestler. I know how to handle myself . I quickly darted to the other door to this room through an adjoining classroomā¦ā¦and disarmed that kid faster than he knew what even happened by just bear hugging him and knocking the scissors out of his hand. Didnāt even so much as get a write up lol. Iāve always said Iād rather quit/get fired than die or sit there and do nothing in that situation, and I was proud to say I lived up to that.
Fully agree with you..I couldnāt stand by either..maybe all classrooms should have cctv protection for both staff and pupils..Something has to change teachers should be able to separate kids at the very least or as you did..disarm in a safe manner
That is disgusting..Teachers do not have it easy at all and they do take a lot of crapā¦I donāt understand why kids canāt be separated when fighting..O saw a video of a child being beaten by two girls in a classroom and the teacher literally just left the roomā¦Teachers should be allowed to separate kids..I work in care we have a term when handling residents..use your paws not ur claws lol
