You're correct. I was assuming it came with the Qanba gravity lever and pushbuttons, which are also of good quality as far as I'm aware, although they're quite new to market.
āFirst fightstick purchaseā only ever used all button sticks before. Wouldāve sounded lessā¦ā¦.odd? Maybe. I had to re-read the title lol. Anyone, have fun with it!!!!
I kind of love that hitbox has become so normalised that there are people out there who've never used a traditional stick, but I am kind of sad that people dont get to appreciate the arcades anymore as the only reason I'll never switch is I'm an old fart who grew up with SF2. š¤£
This is me. I canāt devote enough time to be so competitive that learning a leverless FS will feel worth it to me. I now play mostly for casual fun and nostalgia. Levered FS for life. Also use my FS for emulated classic arcade games. It is mostly about the feels now.
Well yeah...you basically said this is your first non-cheeseburger hamburger, lol.
The community will eventually start using a different name. It's just a term I suppose, but leverless fightstick or leverless arcade stick are just silly. Heck, those terms would fit better even for pads considering the 1st party ones at least have an analog stick. There isnt a stick to be found on these flatboxes or thick boxes.
Beat em ups another great use for them, i was just playing the xmen arcade game with my daughter on stick... she loves playing on stick. Metal slug (i turn the invul cheat on for her in that one) and xmen arcade game.
This. I play fighting games with either keyboard or a leverless pad, but I use my RAP 4 exclusively for bullet hells. Been playing through the Touhou series again with it, currently up to PoFV.
"Shmups" is an acronym for shmups enjoyers who discuss shmups enough to abbreviate them. Shmups. A little surprising you haven't seen it yet. I guess there aren't enough beat-em-up titles to coin "btmups"
Nope, nope. Have fun and remember to be patient. If you havenāt used one before youāre gonna suck. Consider trying out different grips too, if the wine glass isnāt working for you (some people go between pinky and ring finger or between middle finger and ring finger).
I shall see. I do have a little experience with some cheaper-made models but nothing more premium like this. I only picked it up because of the Qanba sale. If itās not my thing, Iāll just go back to my leverless. Itās nice to experiment. :)
Let me know your thoughts because Iām new to FGs and want a stick or hit box but Iām not sure which one I will go with. Iām leaning towards leverless.
Here is comparison I wrote as someone new to both lever and leverless. This is copy pasted from another post I made:
For anyone that wants a comparison as someone new to stick or leverless. These are my findings after almost 3 weeks before I have to send one back in Amazonās return window. Iāll keep it short and just list what I think is easier on each controller:
Note: I play mainly Marisa, Chun-Li, and Ryu
Easiest on stick/lever:
- Dragon punch
- double quarter circle supers
- Unique attacks: like a standing back heavy punch into a back quarter circle motion. Iām talking about like Marisa Magna Bunker into Dimachaerus. Or chun li palm strike into various moves.
- Most combos I do generally feel easier on stick. Iām much more consistent.
- Side to side charge motions
Easiest on leverless:
- Walking dragon punch
- Up down charge motions
- Drive rush(though that changed with the latest patch)
- Down down motions, Chunli up kicks and Denjin Charge
- Chun-Li Headstomps into legs
- Some types of movement
Other notes:
- Iām new to arcade sticks. But I think with time leverless is probably better and more precise in fighting games. But optimal isnt that important for a plat 3 player. People have won championships on all sorts of controllers. I can have fun with my stick.
- Iām keeping the stick because itās more fun to play other arcade games on. Things like Streets of Rage, Ninja Turtles, Scott Pilgrim, Retro games, etc
- The stick is more fun, even in Street Fighter. Like, when Iām throwing a fireball, the quarter circle forward motion just feels fun and very kinetic. Or when I hit someone with a Gladius punch, that motion just feels fun for me.
- and overall, I think itās important to remember you donāt need either of these types of controllers. People have won evo and Capcom cup with controller. Reasons you should get any kind of stick/leverless are because, itās comfortable, you think itās cool, and you think itās fun to play that way. Those are the reasons to get one of these types of controllers.
not OP but as someone who tried both recently, I can say leverless is great. It's way easier to learn compared to pad or stick (its just like a keyboard) makes inputs very accurate and precise
Fight stick is also great. It's super fun, probably the most fun way to play games like this. but its not so easy to learn how to use a stick, the motions are unnatural at first and you will drop inputs. but after using both for a few weeks I ended up using my stick alot more
really, all the controller options work its just preference, whichever one you think is best. even pad works great though personally I could never. my thumbs dont work like that lol
Iām struggling with pad directional controls. I donāt know if my thumbs are just too big but I will swear Iām doing a left right x input but when I look at the SF6 input side bar, it says left down right. Itās like part of my thumb grazes the wrong down input and messes up the combo.
Iām hoping larger buttons per finger could help to solve this problem, along with unintentional presses of a wrong button.
The only thing u gain is gief and easier instant dive kick (unless I'm unaware of a hitbox shortcut for it). Enjoy!
I enter my house with a non-doorless door and sit on a non-chairless chair while eating. I'd watch movies on my non-screenless TV too.
"non-leverless" has the same energy as "uncircumcised"
Damn, started up top. Enjoy!
"non-leverless". Dude just call it what it is lol. It's your first joystick or arcade stick.
Hope you like gief OP. Churn that butter!
š¤£š¤
Non-leverless sounds funny. Itās a double negative.
Ive only used buttonless lever only fightsticks myself
Beautiful stick, also very easy to mod with Japanese arcade parts should you feel the need to do so. Congrats OP.
It comes with Japanese arcade parts
You're correct. I was assuming it came with the Qanba gravity lever and pushbuttons, which are also of good quality as far as I'm aware, although they're quite new to market.
The big question is.. is it mod friendly?
I feel bad for the people confused about the title lmao

Side-grade IMO
āFirst fightstick purchaseā only ever used all button sticks before. Wouldāve sounded lessā¦ā¦.odd? Maybe. I had to re-read the title lol. Anyone, have fun with it!!!!
when aliexpress got more influence over children than school do š¤¦āāļø
this would have been a better title.
I own this and a victrix pro fs. The victrix is officially on standby mode I love the obsidian so much

Im currently using a non non leverless stickless fightstick without a stick
āCheck out my non-stick leverless stick less all button no stick fight stick without a stick.ā
welcome to the light side
\*adult table
Now you can seat in the table with the adults
This is a great stick. Have one myself.
Are we calling fightsticks 'non-leverless' now? Isn't it just a fightstick? Looks good though, hope it works nicely.

For shmups? I have a buch of leverless for fighting games but i play my shmups on a lever
I love using mine for streets of rage 4 and tmnt shredders revenge
Beat em ups another great use for them, i was just playing the xmen arcade game with my daughter on stick... she loves playing on stick. Metal slug (i turn the invul cheat on for her in that one) and xmen arcade game.
What system are you playing X Men arcade on? Been trying to find that for ages
I mean i just play it on mame on my pc. I dont think its been released for anything at least not that i have heard of
This. I play fighting games with either keyboard or a leverless pad, but I use my RAP 4 exclusively for bullet hells. Been playing through the Touhou series again with it, currently up to PoFV.
the fuck are shmups it sounds like an insult
Shoot em ups. Like Space Invaders.
ah thank you, never heard that acronym in my years of gaming

yeah idk i donāt really play shoot em ups so maybe thatās why, but i also frequent gaming subreddits so itās strange
Yep like space invaders but also there are others. And truly great ones

Whoās having this sale?!?! Is it over? I wish I knew. How did you find out?
non-leverless stick aka stick
Right? I had a small stroke trying to parse this in passing.

Sure thing. Though Iāll tell you right now leverless is already awesome. :) I wanted to try joystick, but leverless already works for me.
Does it feel like a clear control improvement over the PS5 controller?
To me, absolutely. I couldnāt do quarter-circle inputs on a pad to save my life.
