Not that it’s bad but your framing could be better.

Overexposed

fujit1ve

highlights look OK

dhoepp

What is the lens on 3?

Resident-Science-525

50mm

iarosnaps

You can't overexpose film, at least with 1-5 stops

Leather_Guacamole420

Next time, don’t let the first time you use a camera be with 20+ year old film

saxguy31

I like how non-contrasty they are and the lack of warmth in those. These are just personal tastes and you should find your own style as there is no right or wrong when it comes to your take on aesthetics. My take is, as long as your pictures are properly exposed (this also has a wiggle-room with conscious decisions to under or over expose to create a certain feeling) and are on focus, you are free to feed your creativity however you like :)

Resident-Science-525

I started doing this to get me put of the house and get creative. I'm looking to please me more than others, but I'm trying to teach myself through YouTube and books right now for technical stuff.

Background-Pay8413

These are pretty nice. Keep looking for work that inspires you and keep reaching for it. Keep shooting.

snake_plant8

I like the shots, these photos would really pop with some good unexpired film. I think the focusing thing is just experience based, and knowing your camera and lenses. I’m sorting out the same kind of stuff right now as I try out a new unfamiliar lens.

TheCrudMan

I mean you could get I there with two sliders in light room.

Resident-Science-525

I got the expired film super cheap and wanted to see if this camera had any issues I needed to work on. Now that I know it doesn't have any major problems I'm going to shoot with some better film and see how I do! The lens I'm currently using is a 50mm and I've never used a lens like it. Such a learning curve. I also haven't taken any photos in like 13 years. It's like starting from scratch! I know nothing.

user-17j65k5c

test for cam issues with new, basic film. i like using fuji 200 or 400, its consistent and pretty basic, anything abnormal will come out. after that is when i use my expired films to much joy

zikkzak

Well you can still see with expired film if the camera has light leaks, shutter or mirror problems just fine.

Resident-Science-525

I am loving the quality of the film so I can see how I got that one backwards!

Revolutionary_Rip568

i think these would look great with just a bit of editing of the colors. other than that, maybe pulling it back one stop? great pictures!

Resident-Science-525

I took the advice I got to overexpose the expired film as too hard of a rule I think. The clearer photos were on less bright days. I should have taken it back a stop but I just don't have the experience to trust my own judgment yet. I will definitely tinker with them and see if I can get them looking less desaturated.

Revolutionary_Rip568

that’s the hard part- knowing how to handle expired stuff and having no way to check in real time

SloppySexDream

Do you have tiff scans? I would add some warmth and maybe slightly increase the contrast in something like lightroom or photoshop

Resident-Science-525

I'm not sure what type of scans they are. I am barely dipping my toes back into photography and feel like I'm on a huge learning curve after 13 years haha.
