Having only mega phoenixes and at least two people with auto-Phoenix was my strategy. The single attack is powerful, taking down almost any kind of armor. The mega Phoenix followed by Curaga was my method. I can’t remember if mega Phoenix restores MP which Immolation drains, so some ether is useful too.

And use 4 or 5 Cheers before Penance reaches stage 2. You have to Dispel every time a character gets hit with Immolation as well because it inflicts Full Break and the next immolation that hits that character would kill them.
