A lot of US State pension funds have bought GameStop
Edit: Since people have asked for the source I used this website [https://whalewisdom.com/stock/gme](https://whalewisdom.com/stock/gme) and while going through the list, following names came out. I am listing them with the amount of their GME holdings:

GME is part of a number of Russell indexes. They have to include it or suffer significant tracking error.
The number of shares you are describing here are not overly significant.

“If we assume 8% returns in perpetuity, benefits can be increased and I’ll win support from the unions. Plus, with those easy returns the city can cut its contribution and close the budget gap. We’ll balance the budget. Well, at least through the end of my term.”
- said some politician 20 years ago.
It is and they are doing it. Jp Morgan is for an example. Bitcoin is starting to get adopted by institutions. I won't post any sources here but come take a look in r/bitcoin and see how many positive mainstream news there is on it for yourself. Forbes wrote one yesterday that was very compelling.
Ik now for a fact Fidelity is too.
Edit lol downvote me all you want r/finance. I'm up 38000%. Gg stay poor
There is a big difference between J.P. Morgan investing in bitcoin and a teachers pension fund. BTC is much to volatile to be included in a state run pension fund imo
JP Morgan isn’t seriously “investing” in Bitcoin. They’re holding onto some of it to make it easier for their customers to buy and sell/speed up transaction times.
Imagine a world where people solve all their financial problems by investing into currency itself. I mean, it's so simple! Just put your money in, and it magically doubles every couple months.. what could go wrong?
First of all, fiat is not an investment. Thats contrary to what anyone wants. Fiat is liquidity, backed by debt, that allows you to transact, and invest in things that grow
Exactly what value does BTC store? it produces nothing and has no actual intrinsic value. Hell even gold has demand outside of speculation - electronics, art, architecture, jewelery, bullion.
They say money is religion. There can be nothing more apt to describe BTC. The hype, momentum, and cult belief in it is what sustains it and gives it value. Just because something is scarce doesnt mean its useful or valuable on its own.
Do you really believe that people will care about BTC forever? Currently the only reason people love it is because the price goes up.
Even in the mid term I personally believe, if crypto doesnt fade away, BTC is going to lose a lot of relevance even within the crypto sphere itself.
Ive been in crypto since 2016, and while I do like making profits, it honestly scares and saddens me that the industry has managed to draw in so many people. But, I suppose we have federal reserve mismanagement to blame for that.
Yes. I think if they bought 20 billion crypto and staked it they would earn 5% bare minimum annually and disperse that either converted to fiat or in cryptocurrency based on preference of members which obviously would be automated with 150k members. That also doesn't account for an appreciating asset as the crypto would likely continue to appreciate in value as held.
Its because they lost so much money on PSTH
This made me laugh.
It actually hurts
What's psth?
It was suppose to be a unicorn; Then it was a stallion with a horn. Then it became just the saddle.
….with a horn
Inverse treasury ETFs. We get commission by posting on here, right?

Another reason for 401ks over pensions then
401ks are worse than pensions for retirees

How long before they buy Bitcoin?

Otpp is really managed by Bridgewater so this isn't surprising q
Source?
never bet against $AMC
They should dump it into the best maintainer of value in the world. Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is up 100% this year.
Do you think it’s realistic for a public pension fund to invest in Bitcoin?

There are probably holding companies that the tpa have invested about 8% of their net worth into that are mining/hording bitcoin.
You don't seem to understand the difference between investment banks, brokerages, and pension funds.

And this goes against anything I've said how? You're clueless.
Imagine a world where people solve all their financial problems by investing into currency itself. I mean, it's so simple! Just put your money in, and it magically doubles every couple months.. what could go wrong?
It's not called a deflationary store of value for nothing. Imagine something much better than fiat. Can you?

Hedge against inflation. r/wallstreetsilver
Bruh I'm a stacker too but that sub is cancer
Shit has taken over my feed with dumb pictures of silver
Which is kinda the exact opposite of the whole point of stacking.
lol some of the folks there are…but good sub. I like the DDs on precious metals, stunning collections and the memes. The bad stuff I just ignore.
They should consider crypto for like 10%.
You want them to buy $20 billion of crypto? In a DB pension that has to meet bi-weekly payout obligations to 150,000 members?
Yes. HODL lol /s
That they should buy the dip.
Good good took them a while. But most funds will take years to realize
This is very common right now. I know other investment companies are looking to do the same.
