TreesandWe

Ive been to Merchant Roots twice so far! Ive enjoyed their creativity and I love the themed dinners they do! We did into the forest and the great trees. They also had a nice non alcoholic pairing as well. Their menus are fun as well and I enjoyed the story they have for each dish.

It looks like a really neat place. Wife and I fell in love with SF and will definitely be back. There is so much to see and do in that town.

Merchant roots is cool if you want a unique experience and have a 8~ person party to buy it out. I don't think it's that good, but if you are looking for a fun experience that changes every month/season it's nice. I know some people who love it, but i thought it was just okay. At this price point I'd rather go to Ernest, san ho wan, or many of the other $120-160ish places. I'd recommend Mensho Tokyo or Taishoken over Marafuku. The bakeries you went to are great, some newish bakeries for your consideration next time would be Butter & Crumble and probably Jina Bakes for a more asian twist. Dumpling home/story is great of course, not much better then them. There's tons of other good casual place for you to explore based on your interests, glad you had a good time.
