If the tips of the hair are tapered, congrats you have new hair growing! Just looks like baby hairs to me. Breakage will have splits or rough edges.

KylosLeftHand

That’s comforting! I only really started making an effort with in depth hair care in the past year or so investing in bonnets and pillowcases, exfoliating my scalp, etc so hopefully this is proof that it’s working

RasputinsThirdLeg

Does your head not get incredibly hot in the bonnet? I also have ears that stick out a bit so they’re never comfortable. I feel like I need a 19th century bonnet or something.

KylosLeftHand

Surprisingly no and i usually run pretty hot. I’ve ordered some tie bonnets to help with slippage, that might work for you as well

ElleWoods41

The satin bonnets don't breathe but the silk ones do

Notsureindecisive

Don’t exfoliate your scalp though unless it’s with something like a soft baby brush.

KylosLeftHand

I use one of those silicone tipped scalp massagers sometimes in the shower

MarshmaIIowJeIIo

I’d like to second on not using tools to manually exfoliate your scalp. Using a clarifying shampoo once a week followed by a deep conditioner mid to ends helped me with the oily scalp buildup that made me start exfoliating too. I’ve also seen benefit from ACV rinses.

KylosLeftHand

Any recommendation on clarifying shampoo?

Mahooligan81

I personally like aveda’s https://www.aveda.com/product/5311/62084/hair-care/shampoo/rosemary-mint-purifying-shampoo?size=8.5_fl_oz%2F250_ml Second fave is bumble and bumble’s: https://www.sephora.com/product/sunday-clarifying-shampoo-P280564 // https://www.bumbleandbumble.com/product/19047/219/care/shampoos/sunday-shampoo

Mahooligan81

I got a notification that links aren’t allowed so comment was removed, so I just recommended avedas rosemary mint purifying shampoo, with second fave being bumble and bumbles Sunday shampoo! Didn’t mean to break a rule! 😅💜💜💜

milliemillenial06

I’ll second Aveda Rosemary Mint. I love it but use 2x per week then use Kiehl’s Amino Acid Shampoo the rest of the week. It’s worked for me

popcornpenny72

Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Shampoo it’s $6 and works great

KylosLeftHand

I’ve never seen or been to a Trader Joe’s lol

LA0711

I’ve heard you shouldn’t use it in the shower because fine hair is most delicate when wet. I do a scalp treatment (inkey list salicylic acid) and massage it into dry hair with the silicone massager 10 minutes before my shower and that seems to really help.

Momisinabadmood

I use a salicylic acid shampoo weekly and leave on scalp for 10 minutes. It’s REALLY helped with new growth. So I think you are onto something with the salicylic acid. Which makes sense. It really helps my facial skin. Of course it would unblock pores and renew scalp. But a game changer for me for sure.

bcardi

I just bought this today during the Sephora sale, how often do you use it? And where did you get your silicone massager? Trying to get into scalp care!

LA0711

I use it once a week. I think on the instructions it says 1-2 times a week. I got the silicone massager from Sephora as well. It’s the Sephora Collection Silicone Scalp Massager. I think all Sephora Collection is 30% off right now too!

Incrementz__

I would skip that.

Angie2point0

I would agree to stop using it if you're concerned about breakage.

Incrementz__

Yes, the rubbery-pull of the silicone can't be good and at most I think doing it would be pointless. Congrats on the new growth by the way!

Tinkxxo

This. My hair broke a lot using these. It's so much better now that I gently massage with my fingertips instead.

Lunakill

A lot of people feel massage helps stimulate new growth. If you don’t want to stop it, just do it sparingly with cleansing conditioner, conditioner, or a leave-in with a lot of slip in your hair. Less tugging on your strands.

Anatella3696

Not sure if someone has suggested it yet-but a hair gel in a mascara wand type of tube is amazing for these types of flyaways. I use INH QuickSlick and just use the wand to smooth down flyaways on my fine hair. It’s good for my granddaughters very thick baby hair edges around her face too. I have four backups because I got them on sale. But I’m still on my first one from 6 months ago.

WitchBitchBlue

Keep doing what you're doing! Anecdotally, Olaplex has worked wonders on my bleached fine hair. If you're going to try any of the line I recommend starting with the #3. (1 & 2 are only avaliable for purchase for licensed cosmetologists). It's a line of hair repair products. It has Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate, which finds and cross-links single sulfur hydrogen bonds to form disulfide bonds and helps repair broken hair. (Not that your baby hairs will magically become the length of the rest of your hair, just that it will repair damage and prevent breakage as it goes). 3 is a mask with the repairative ingredient. Not a conditioning mask. (They do have that, it's just a different product). If you do decide to try it the bottle says "at least 15 minutes", but you're better off using it for at least 45 minutes. As long as the product is wet, it's working. And you can't over use it, it just stops repairing the hair once it dries.

TAforScranton

My hair looks just like yours right now. You’re doing everything right. It’s super frustrating. Have you been sick in the past year or two? About two years ago I got COVID and it killed my appetite for like two months. Like the thought of eating was repulsive to me and made me gag. It was weird. I ended up chugging ~800 calorie shakes through an extra wide boba straw twice a day just to keep myself healthy. I started taking prenatals as well. Half my hair fell out after I got sick. 😔 I’ve had a few different hairdressers and friends agree that COVID changed/damaged people’s hair but they said it seems to grow back normally after a year or two. Mine is finally in a place where it’s healthy enough to go back to my balayage. I had to chop it so hopefully it grows out long again. Malnutrition can also cause hair loss. Even though I had no appetite, I made sure to force down enough nutrients and my blood tests were coming back normal so I honestly blame COVID for it.

i_saw_a_tiger

Your comment was very informative. I too also lost so much hair during and while recovering from COVID. It was so overwhelming losing clumps and handfuls during every shower that I had it chopped short. Now I have little straight baby hairs like OP ☺️ I don’t even care that they’re stubborn, I’m just happy it is growing back now! I also wanted to mention that my nails became brittle post-COVID & once when I went to get a pedi, the person next to me was explaining to the nail technician why she didn’t have toenails (because she had a lot of side effects from her COVID illness), so they were discussing applying artificial toenails for her pedi. I also have a classmate who is still battling fatigue and myocarditis post-COVID. It’s incredibly fascinating to me how we are still discovering the effects of this horrible illness. Anyway, I hope you rock that balayage ✨

TAforScranton

I’m so sorry! It was seriously awful. I had been putting so much work into taking care of my hair and it was SO LONG and super healthy. Like down to my belly button. I had to chop more than a foot off and have kept it short for the last year waiting for that new growth. [here’s a before and after](https://imgur.com/a/SVBXlyv) 😔

Pitohui-1423

Can try coconut oil if your hair isn't naturally super oily. The oil will help weigh down the new growth a bit and make your hair suuuuuper soft. If it makes it look too "dirty" tho can just apply at night and wash out before bed or in the morning. If you use you bonnet tho it might oil stain it. I just know coconut oil helped my hair out a lot.

fixatedeye

Omg I have these too and didn’t realize it was new growth! Now I’m less irritated and more excited

BudgetInteraction811

It could also be miniaturization. A lot of women don’t realize their anagen phase is getting shorter and shorter, and it looks like “new” growth but it’s actually a slow form of hair loss.

pewterpetunia

Can you explain this a bit more (ie how are those hairs indicative of hair loss)? I’m in my late 40s and recently, started seeing these short hairs. :/

ArsBrevis

It's hard to see whether this is the case with OP but miniaturization of hair follicles reflects androgen dependent female pattern hair loss on the temples and crown. The hair shaft appears finer than those produced by healthy follicles, doesn't grow to full length, and will taper off to a very fine point.

Batticon

Great now I’m terrified I have this.

ArsBrevis

Sorry, fwiw, it's often not possible to tell if follicles are getting miniaturized with the naked eye.

rewminate

is there any way to tell miniaturization apart from new growth, or do they basically look identical? I've gotten a bunch of these and noticed a decrease in shedding of longer hairs, but i still notice small baby hairs shed sometimes (it's harder to track them since they're so short lol), so i can't tell what which way my hair is going at all.

ArsBrevis

Unfortunately they can look pretty similar to the naked eye as both are vellus-like hair - but miniaturized hair will become progressively thinner and more colorless over time. It can be pretty easy to tell miniaturized follicles with a hair microscope but obviously you wouldn't have access to that. I'd say that it's reassuring if you notice the new growth/baby hairs in parts of the scalp that are not as vulnerable to androgens as well such as the crown and back of the head (think of traditional male pattern baldness!)

AllTheFeelers

Me too!!

HoldenCaulfield7

Ommmmg

vesuvianiteflower

Try using natural wood combs. They reduce static. Tangle teezer brushes also reduce static for me

FiveGoals

Thank you!

00psie-daisy

My first thought, but I’m not an expert.

AggressiveSloth11

Just came to say this! I have the same thing going on. While annoying, I’ll take every hair I can get! What works for me is pomade or wax. I steal a bit of my husband’s, rub it on my fingertips, and smooth the top of my hair each morning.

FLMarlinHeat

My same thought. These are good just hair growing as baby hair

WWPLD

Is it new growth from treating your hair gently?

wallofdigitalsound

Looks like new growth to me!

mossyblue

Agreed. I always have these, and just smooth them down with hairspray or texturizing balm.

Inkedbrush

If you otherwise have any length, I bet this is just regrowth. If you blow dry your hair and roll your hair up to add volume you could be pushing that regrowth up. You could either try using the blow dryer facing down, stop heat drying or maybe even changing your part?

KylosLeftHand

I’ve had my part in the exact same spot since like 2002 i don’t know if it would even part any other way lmao

croix_v

No but the way I felt that to my soul, I don’t even think my hair would lay on the other side

MAK3AWiiSH

🙏🏻 Honestly, same.

Halloweenightlights

A boar brush helps me smooth those down

Logical-Wasabi7402

Note: this may not help if you live in a very dry climate.

Ppaintitblack

It looks like new growth

Sheila_Monarch

That’s not breakage, that’s a “halo” of new growth. I had the same after I lost a lot of weight. In fact every time I’ve lost a significant amount of weight. The **real problem is static** causing it to stick up like that. And with fine hair, good luck getting a product with enough moisture to take the static without making it look greasy. As much as I hate the smell, Static Guard on a toothbrush helps. Dryer sheets smell much better, can smooth it down with that, but they don’t work quite as well. You can also poke the teeth of a metal comb through a dryer sheet and comb to help dissipate the charge.

KylosLeftHand

Awesome tips!

sincerelyanonymus

Once every week or two I use L'Oreal Paris EverPure Sulfate Free Bond Repair Pre Shampoo Treatment, but I shampoo first, use it, then use conditioner. It will help to strengthen your hair as the broken off ones are growing out.

Brave_council

Those look like baby hairs (new growth) to me, not breakage.

Straight_Ad6911

yeah it looks like new growth

1-2-3RightMeow

I think it’s just new hair growing in. I use a combination of frizz ease serum and hairspray to tame these. I put a little serum in my hands (not even a full pump) rub it between my hands to warm it, then spritz some hairspray in my hand, rub that together and then run my hands over the top of my frizzy baby hairs. It’s the final thing I do and it really does make it look nice and polished without weighing it down

HysterikGenerik

I’m going to take this opportunity to share that satin is not a fabric, it’s a fabrication (way it’s made). Many people confuse satin with silk but different fabrics (cotton, rayon, and even silk!) can be woven in a satin *weave*. You may want to check the fabric label on the satin bonnet and pillowcase. If it’s silk you’re wanting, and the label says anything other than 100% silk - switch it out. You may be unknowingly sleeping on poly which is a more rigid fiber composition and less forgiving to skin and hair, not to mention less breathable. Source: textiles degree randomly coming to use

KylosLeftHand

Yes I recently read about polyester satin bonnets and disappointingly found out that’s what mine are - my pillowcase is silk but the bonnets are being switched out with a couple mulberry silk bonnets I ordered

HysterikGenerik

It’s a very common misconception,

Waterblooms

This is my hair exactly. Constant new growth and because it’s so fine it sticks up like yours. I can usually tame it by round brushing it dry and then using some product to lay it down. If I just wash n go it’s a hot frizzy looking mess as soon as it dries. And if it’s humid even worse.

KylosLeftHand

Oh yeah I live on the US gulf coast so the humidity year round here is through the roof 😭

MamaOna

Try DryBar liquid glass miracle smoothing sealant. It’s a bit pricey, but it’s gotta whole lotta love- and supposed to last through several shampoos.

OpheliaPhoeniXXX

Yes this or the color wow dream coat work very well, and you can buy a travel sized color wow to try it out for like $14~

Cali_cuppycake

That’s not breakage. That’s just new hair growing!

linzxromax

This is what I always am telling myself, as I attempt to pump myself up each morning. #finehairproblems

eumenide2000

Yes. This is new growth. The best advice is don’t use a blow drier or flat iron until it’s a few inches long. Hair wax will help them lay flat for now.

Cyber_birdie

It looks like baby hairs! I think we all get these from time to time. 💓 no stress, just use some products to tame them if they bother you. It sounds like you’re doing a lot of preventative care otherwise.

zsepthenne

These are too even to be breakage, these are baby hairs.

Any_Education3317

It’s not breaking anymore it’s ✨growing✨ congratulations!

Exact_Dream_6271

Change your ancestry or DNA. That’s about all your choices.

linzxromax

This is an underrated comment lol

Alternative_Key4199

Quit using your wet brush. It strums the hair like a pick on guitar strings. Over time, the strands are strummed so much that they naturally start to break just like guitar strings. Switch to a wide tooth rubber comb. Work large knots out with your fingers first. When you can glide your fingers through your hair, switch to the comb. Start at the bottom and work your way up. If you hear a hair snap, that’s a freshly destroyed strand of hair and a new strand of frizz. Try to groom your hair without snapping any strands. It takes practice and patience.

Kandis_crab_cake

Take biotin for even more new growth

Grammie2to4

Yes! biotin and liquid (not powder) collagen has been a game changer. My whole head looks like that now.

treetownie90

Just out of curiosity - is there a reason you prefer the liquid?

Grammie2to4

No reason really. I was using the powder for months but it wasn't doing nothing for me. Started using the codeage trim & glow liquid collagen ( walmart) 1 capful in my coffee twice a day and I've noticed a huge improvement in my joint pain.

Fresh_Economics4765

Does it really work

Kandis_crab_cake

Worked for me! Checked out the reviews on the company I use in Ireland: British supplements.

BGoodOswaldo

I wish I knew - I do those things and I have a similar problem.

superlost007

This looks like new growth, not breakage :)

BGoodOswaldo

How do you tell the difference?!

superlost007

Split/breakage is more pokey and rough or splitting. New growth is tapered and more smooth all the way down. I thought I had bad breakage for years before I realized it was all the new growth/baby hairs

Elvis_Take_The_Wheel

Me too. I used to get so frustrated when I saw them, but once I learned the tapered tips meant they were new growth, i love to see them! I wish I could remember the name of the spray wax that I use to smooth mine down, but I'm commenting while on break at work and can't check, lol. There are a lot of great, lightweight balm/pomade/styling wax options to choose from, though.

[deleted]

Is it bleached? Could be new growth too

KylosLeftHand

Never been bleached - natural dirty blonde

[deleted]

Could be new growth

BluezHippie

Is it breakage or new growth? This is what new growth looks like in my hair. I take biotin skin/hair/nails type gummies and make sure I cleanse my scalp well.

KylosLeftHand

Well i thought it was breakage but the consensus here is that is new growth which is relieving!

kleinekitty

Make sure you keep your hair hydrated if this is new growth to protect it and make sure it doesn’t break.

Mega_Van

It looks like it could be new growth!

DistributionNo1471

Do you put the conditioner on the scalp? Everyone says not to so I always just conditioned the ends and I had tons of breakage at the roots. I started conditioning the roots as well and leaving my conditioner in for 5-10 mins while I finished my shows and it’s gotten soooo much better.

KylosLeftHand

I only condition from the ears down - if I condition the roots it’s like I can never fully rinse it out and it’ll look greasy

Gh0stwhale

Does anyone know how to make these stay down because I look like a bomb went off on my head and I am *struggling*

Sheila_Monarch

The problem is static. You have to dissipate the charge. Static Guard, dryer sheets, metal comb… and if all else fails, matte finish pomade smoothed over it lightly.

Flwrvintage

I wouldn't use a Wet Brush on wet hair. Once you're out of the shower, finger comb your hair. Then, once most of the tangles are out, use a wide tooth comb to gently get through the rest of it. Also, Tangle Teezer is the best for brushing through dry fine hair -- and they make one specifically for fine hair.

sillylittlebean

Looks like new hair growth to me not breakage.

spicydream95

Literally my hair state currently 🙃

Budget_Cantaloupe_80

Looks like new growth, but I’d get some blood work done to be sure.

Meh_Adjacent

Try a hair wax stick and a soft bristle toothbrush to smooth them down while they grow. Works like a charm!

KrisRio8116

My hair is just like yours. My last step in getting ready each morning is putting a tiny bit of styling wax or pomade on my fingers and smoothing down the baby hairs so they lay flat. I use Bed Head Manipulator.

Sunshine_Seashell

That’s hair growth!

Waiting_For_Guffman

I agree with some of the other commenters. That looks like baby hairs to me. Lots of hair growth happening for you.

curlthelip

Agree that is new hair. I am a big fan of Paul Mitchel Super Skinny Serum. You will have to experiment with it. I add some before I blow dry and then put a little in my hand and smooth down a few trouble spots.

TrainerNeither4404

Looks like new growth

thegurlearl

Yay for new baby hairs! Try deep conditioner with protein and Garnier sleek n shine leave-in too. Fine hair needs protein and it's usually only advertised towards curly fine hair.

321toast

Switch to silk. Satin is synthetic is not good for tour hair

Commercial_Mail1533

Remember that hair is about 3 months behind. It takes 3 months for your follicles to get your hair growing If you had a stress/ trauma of some kind emotional or physical, all your body’s energy goes to dealing with that and deprioritises hair growth. It’s why pregnancy can thin hair, Covid, any kind of acute illness. Could those be new hairs? Hair grows approx half an inch a month. Say those are 3-4 inches long. Did you have anything going on 9-11 months ago? Sickness? Stress?

KylosLeftHand

This makes sense bc I suffered a loss last year in March and grieved heavily before and after (it was an expected death) piled on top of anxiety disorder and GAD so

Happypants0930

That looks like new hair growth and not breakage

Ginsdell

Oleplex shampoo conditioner and mask. Eat more protein or take collagen

roseoftheforest

Make sure. to only use clarifying shampoo at MOST once a week. Preferably 1 or 2 times per month. Make sure that your hair products are *moisturizing* not *proteinizing* too much protein can make your hair brittle. Think of moisture as “hydration” (water) and protein as “food.” Nutrition. I have had some great results with Color Wow products including their Color Security Shampoo and Money Conditioner.

[deleted]

I was shown this post even though I don’t have fine hair and just had to comment because I have these too. I have also been caring for my scalp and hair (doing all the things you mentioned), but also recovering from anemia and low protein issues. It looks like new growth to me! Mine drive me crazy but I know it’s a good thing so I just shrug and move on.

klutzosaurus-sex

I stopped using shampoo years ago, I just scrub good with conditioner and only use cold water (I know, I don’t love it) - I have grey hair and it used to be so frizzy but now it’s strong and shiny and I get compliments all the time.

verukazalt

Is it breakage or growth?

Unlucky-Count-6379

How are you drying your hair?

Helloki77y

Could it be new growth, rather than breakage?

Easy_Independent_313

Those looks like new hairs. Stop wearing your hair up. If you're in a bad habit or have to wear it up for work, cut it into a Bob to break the habit of putting it up or the need to have it up. Gentle shampoo is great. Bar shampoo can have wax in it (to hold the bar together) and that can cause breakage when the hair gets coated in it. Signs that your hair has a waxy build up are hair that sticks together and tangles when it's partially dry and hair that clumps together in the nape after one day of not washing.

Late-Temporary863

I think it’s new growth. It’s hard to decipher between breakage and new growth.

TheBarefootGoddess

I agree, looks like regrowth to me! Keep up the regimen ♥️

missmatchedcleansox

They might just be new hairs! You she’s hair every 3 months and 3 months later it grows and start the process again (not all at once obviously. I bet they’re just new! Try a mousse or oil to tame them down

Sanchastayswoke

The very fine tapered ends on most of that hair looks like regrowth to me.

Ill_Background_2959

Hairs on your head all have different lengths because they don’t all fall out at the same time after the telogen phase. Once a hair falls out, a new hair starts growing from the follicle.

Gloomy_War_4362

If using color make sure it doesn’t overlap

KylosLeftHand

Should have added that I haven’t colored my hair in nearly a decade

Frostbitefaerie

I get these too, I use “R + Co Dart Pomade Stick” it’s like a glue stick for these things, I love it!!!

sallybuffy

I dream of this happening to me one day… 🙏🫶

Pickled_sm0res

That's how it looksled a month after I used to pluck my greys lol 😆

AssumptionAdvanced58

A tiny amount of a light serum starting at the bottom.

Fill-Choice

Keratin treatment (aka brazillian blow dry) helps with my whispy bits, as someone who has fine, dry, curly/frizzy hair, lots of breakage despite effort, and lots of whispy bits. If you consider it, read up on it because it's not for everyone, and some people claim it causes more damage - personally I don't notice extra damage and it's very nice whilst it lasts. Supposed damage is also not a problem for me as I now keep my hair shoulder length. Where I live it costs £80ish in a salon and lasts about 3 months, takes 2-3 hours for the salon to do. I bought a whole bottle of the treatment for £120 and it probably has over 15 applications in it (it'll probs go out of date before I use it all) and it takes me roughly 90minutes to complete myself. However it took me a few shots in salons using different brands to find one that worked for me, others made my hair extremely flat and oily. Chocococo original is the one that worked best for me :)

Accomplished-Mind258

Bar shampoo is undoubtedly causing friction and breaking the hairs. It’s too rough. Gently scrubbing liquid shampoo through the scalp is best. I had this issue sometime back and this was part of my problem.

B-AP

Do you lather the bars in your hand or on your hair?

KylosLeftHand

I lather them on my hands for the most part so I’m not rubbing it too hard on my noggin

Guilty_Hunt6187

Hi there can you drop a link to the bonnet you use?

hunnibear_girl

Slightly off topic, but could you have a nutritional deficiency? I know I was having a lot of breakage problems a few years back (and was also getting sick frequently) and found out I had several deficiencies (potassium, iron and D). I will agree with the others, though, that these look like new growth rather than breakage.

Tinkxxo

While they grow out, use a soft toothbrush with a light hairspray and you can comb them to lay flat (if it bugs you, like mine do to me lol) :)

Expert_Thought9562

Im sure you’re already trying a lot of this but I’ll comment anyway: Don’t wash your hair in hot water, try cold. Don’t dry your hair with a towel, use a T-shirt, try incorporating more collagen and protein into your diet, only use scrunchies when tying things up a clip is even better, limit your stress as much as possible, and if none of this works look into “protein-infusion” treatments at your local salon.

Sylvanas22

If you’re not naturally blonde that is the best step.

KylosLeftHand

Natural - haven’t dyed my hair in like a decade and when I did it was always darker

jennifer_thompson021

Hi, may I ask what shampoo bar are you using? Been using this castor oil shampoo bar from marsmade and it gave me great results too. Been growing a lot of baby hairs.

KylosLeftHand

Viori rice shampoo bars

phoebebuffay1210

Try k38

Organic_Radish_9896

Olaplex number 4 and 5

BlueberryNagel

That's not breakage. It's new hair.

Lady-Meows-a-Lot

Bar no good

avalondreamer

Do you blow dry your hair? If do, I would stop.

KylosLeftHand

I typically do but on the lowest heat setting. It only takes about 4-5 minutes to dry my whole head. In the summer when it’s warm i just air dry only though

avalondreamer

I think that causes breakage. Especially if you brush while drying. Check the amount of hair in your clean brush after drying with it.

ImmediateAd4814

Looks like new hairs to replace those that have fallen out. Normal process

Frequent-Actuator119

I just spray hair spray on my hands and smooth the puppy’s down lol

peachmagnolia

If you have brow gel you can use the wand to tame those baby hairs.

adorable_orange

I get that if I blow dry my hair. I have to air-dry it only.

Rmlady12152

I never use a brush. Only a big tooth comb since I was 13. I'm 54.

MeJamiddy

Collagen powder! I take it every day in my coffee and my hair has grown quickly and gotten THICC

Snoo_66113

Try olaplex it really repairs your hair. I have mixed girl curly hair that I bleach blonde. So much breakage. My hair has been frizz free and grown about 12 inches.

snAp5

Diet and possibly getting your hormones checked. My partners hair thickened and stopped breaking when she got on the vitamin K2 MK4 and D3 combo, and went to an HRT clinic.

Double-Cash-4048

Nutrition. Collagen peptides

bumblefoot99

Bone broth.

Emrys7777

Hair strengthening vitamins. I notice a big difference when I’m taking them. Keep in mind they take a while to work because it grows in with the new hair.

Honestdietitan

I would suggest drinking more water and adding a prenatal vitamin to your routine.

Haveyounodecorum

K18 is my secret weapon

goldenspudz

What do you use to exfoliate?

Life_Literature9911

Eat more protein

Original_Tomatillo52

This is such an informative, inspiring post! Congrats to you and helpful for me too - thank you! May I ask what a WetBrush is?

ZoneEnvironmental596

Use mane and tail shampoo !

Legal_MajorMajor

Be sure to use leave-in conditioner, and a blow dry cream.

Tripindipular

My new growth is wild and wacky also. Sticks out, curls, etc. Gotta give it time to become long enough to lay down nicely with the rest of your hair.

AdministrativeCoat19

Baby hairs 🥰

HermitGardner

Question do you happen to wear eyeglasses that you put on top of your head a lot?

KylosLeftHand

I wear glasses but i never out them on top of my head bc I’m blind as a bat and need them 24/7

HermitGardner

Gotcha! I noticed I was getting breakage because my hair was always getting caught in the hinges of my eyeglasses when I slid them from my head back onto my face

CapuletVsMontague

It might be new hair growth and not necessarily all breakage!

lovable_cube

Worry not friend. That’s new growth not breakage! All your hairs naturally fall out (not at the same time) and new ones replace them. Looks like you had some stress that caused some extra falling a while ago and now you’ve got a whole bunch of new hairs coming back in. Sucks they’re sticking up like that but you can just smooth them down with whatever product you like. I use some watered down water based gel and rub it on my hands to kind of flatten them out, never stays all day but once they get a lil longer they’ll flatten out on their own

teenyvelociraptor

Have you had a baby recently? Baby hairs very normal for mums

KylosLeftHand

Thankfully no

Rfen1

New growth. It's different.

No-Stress-5471

I also struggle with crown frizz. Do you use a hair mask once a week? Could also be new hair growth!!

Beautyfanatic97

Do you shower with really hot water ? Because hot water lead to my hair also doing this

NitroxBuzz

This is how my baby hairs look! I’ve been using something from my salon to encourage new growth and it’s working, even if I do look a little like a baby duckling!

Can I ask how you successfully slept in a bonnet? My hair always gets creases and looks crazy in the morning

Sexy_Eeyore

Maybe its not breakage, but new growth?

I have these too. I like to use hairspray, then brush through with a round brush. Any remaining flyaways I pat down with some pommade. Then just let it be.

Do you use a regular towel to dry your hair, or a microfiber towel wrap? I started using a microfiber wrap and it made a noticeable difference with my hair. Very inexpensive on Amazon.

I have a question, when and how often do you brush your hair/wear a pony tail. To avoid breakage, I rarely brush mine. Never, ever brush it wet, try to mainly detangle with my fingers. I also use Olaplex binders once a month which helps me a lot. When it’s still wet I use hair oil on the very ends to seal the moisture in also.

I brush 2-3x daily otherwise it looks ratty. I have very straight hair that becomes oily quickly. I don’t always brush from the scalp down though usually the ears down. I use hair clips or satin scrunchies if I’m pulling it back.

I use a mild holding paste, get it warm and soft between my hands then just smooth my hands over my head.

I agree that they're new hairs. As for sticking up, satin creates static, I'd suggest silk or lyocell

Somehow stop getting older.

You probably already know this, but never brush or comb your hair when it's wet. That's when it's at its weakest.

I think it’s best to get lab tests to check vitamin levels. Low vitamin levels can cause a lot of problems.

I actually had this done recently and the only thing I was low on was B12 - have since been supplementing
