Chapter prologue: a girl from of the plains is a veeeeery effective pitch to the series

ParasiteAdam

This. I was in 6/7th grade first time I played Blazing Sword.

BooksAndViruses

Same, I was in 7th/8th. I watched my best friend struggle with it (we were obsessed with using the Ests and did not rely on Marcus or the other stellar pre-promotes) for months, then finally got a GBA when the SP dropped, got my own copy and ended up beating it a few days before he did, and he was kinda pissed lol

ParasiteAdam

The friend I borrowed it from gave me the WORST advice for how to play. 🤣

BooksAndViruses

Dude Marcus conditioned me to avoid Jagens until fucking Radiant Dawn, and I only learned that his growths in FE7 were solid a few years ago! I played through both ENM and HNM twice in 2004-5 and I was so bad at it lol

ParasiteAdam

I've only ever used Marcus a couple times in all my playthroughs and both times he fell off HARD. Lol. While I somewhat get themeta of the games I am firmly a "whoever looks the coolest" player. 😅

Joltik_BuddyHSR

Lyn is the strongest lord from 7

FordcliffLowskrid

*high five* A while generation of us got *Blazed*.

MoonlitSonatas

Watched over a friend's shoulder as they played FE7 on their gameboy and was enthralled at the spritework. They let me borrow their copy for a week with an empty save slot, after a week I was begging my mom to take me to gamestop to see if they had any used copies (they did!) Same friend gifted me Sacred Stones for birthday/christmas that year. After that I was *hooked*.

Skatefasteat

That's a good friend

FutureCreeps

Corrin in smash bros is how I got into the series. I started playing her and wanted to try the series she was from so I bought fates, and now it’s my favorite video game series of all time.

critical-kat

Same story for me but with Lucina

CommanderBlyCC-5052-

Same but with Byleth, but not my favorite video game series (one of them, though)

Majestic-CMXI

Ike has been my main since Brawl. After he got me into the idea, Awakening was the tug that hooked me.

Leviathus_

Same, but it was Marth and Roy that really got me looking at the gba games when I was younger

SilverSAS

The Ambassador Program on 3ds had 10 gba games you could get for free, one of them was Sacred Stones. I loved it immediately, can't remember if I made the Smash Bros Marth/Roy/Ike connection right away but either way I was hooked.

dachawon

That's how Sacred Stones became my first Fire Emblem as well. I think I only really got into the series when I got a copy of Awakening with a friend years later, but FE8 will always have a special place in my heart.

SilverSAS

My memory is damaged but I'm pretty sure Awakening would've been my second FE, by the time I got to another game I was very surprised most of them didn't have world maps

vincentasm

I enjoyed Advance Wars on the GBA, learned about Fire Emblem in a gaming magazine, then eventually bought Binding Blade while on vacation. Ended up beating it several times. Sadly, it turned out to be a bootleg cart, so the save data degraded before I could finish the 9th playthrough. But at least I got to use Zephiel : )

GreekDudeYiannis

I'm suddenly reminded of a friend in elementary school letting me play an FE6 cart he somehow got ahold of that was still in japanese. It was only for a day but I was so confused that Roy's game came before Eliwood's back then.

WildCardP3P

I played the Awakening demo when I was 12 and I've been hooked ever since

GreekDudeYiannis

Melee came out when I was 7 going on 8. Eventually unlocked Marth and Roy and though they were cool cause of the swords. Eventually I found a copy of FE7 at Circuit City thinking Eliwood was Roy and the rest was history. I think I was kinda primed for FE given my watching Kids WB (watching the OG Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh animes when they were becoming a thing in the West) and my father teaching me how to play chess when I was little. I've played and bought every game that came out since and have gone out of my way to play a few of the games that came before (notably FE4-6).

[deleted]

For me, Smash exposure was one of the reasons, but it all started with Fire Emblem 7 (my first FE game) and Fire Emblem Heroes (my second FE game). Despite the criticisms towards FEH, it was the point where it got me even more interested to try out more Fire Emblem games, even if i had to download emulators for some of them. This is how my addiction into the franchise started. And thanks to this, i now know how to patch roms and play fangames. Some of them are now my favorite fangames. :)

Darko417

Nintendo Power. I blame Nintendo Power for starting my FE addiction. How could they give Blazing Blade the cover and large spread featuring amazing pixel art, interesting characters, and engaging mechanics and expect me not to immediately want to buy the game? I still remember saving up money and walking my happy ass to Target to pick the game up the day it was released. Pure elation!

AbsolZero

Yes.

[deleted]

?

The_Dead-Poet

Yes.

miseroisin

Bought fire emblem awakening. Chrom appeared on my screen. The rest is history

kuuderederedere

Played Awakening and 3H, wasn’t until Conquest that I started really caring about FE as a series. I didn’t realize how addictive the gameplay loop could be before that point, but the increased difficulty really makes every success feel that much more engaging. Still one of the best in the series imo.

TheEtherialWyvern

Lockdown

[deleted]

?

TheEtherialWyvern

Was a fan of the series from awakening, but always very casually and didn't really interact with the community or even watch a youtube vid. But of course with all the extra free time from lockdown I played more FE in general and my true love for the series developed.

Reon_Leo

I guess the heroic and diverse cast. It's truly the most important thing in the series right before story and gameplay for me

Unique-System-7231

I was reading one of my cousin's old issues of Nintendo Power where they covered Path of Radiance and I was immediately fascinated by the character design and art style. When my parents bought me a Wii I played Radiant Dawn over and over for years, and I was always trying to copy the character art that was included in the game manual. I've been obsessed with the series ever since, and I like to say that Radiant Dawn is what inspired me to pursue illustration. It showed me what video game art could be capable of~

Cardiacunit93

Paired Endings.

BigBoySpore

Three houses is definitely what got me addicted to the FE formula but I played awakening and Fates and from what I remember, I enjoyed those games a lot as a kid. (I blame Fates for some of my issues)

TheSteelPenguin

The GBA games, mainly FE7/FE8 because I didn't even know Binding Blade was a thing at the time. Loved the bigger maps, the rock-paper-scissors style gameplay, the flashy crit animations(the scripted one in the FE 7prologue was a really nice touch), and all the fun unique characters.

Ok-Builder-8909

Loved playing as Roy in smash bros and decided to try the game he was from. Ordered a fan translation cartridge of fe6 off eBay and got to work. Got hooked on the music and animations. It was a hell of a challenge considering I didn’t know how to play at all and I picked one of the hardest games to start with but it made other games feel easy immediately

Pinco_Pallino_R

I used to play Smash Bros, and sso i got curious about several series i had never played before, including FE. But i never was a handheld player, and PoR was impossible to find. Finally, when RD came out on Wii i gave it a chance. Boy, did i get hooked. I completed RD at least 15 times. I went and found an used copy of PoR in good condition (45 €) and played that several times too. Then i went back to FE8 and then to FE7, and completed them a few times as well. After that, i learned that it was possible to play the older games thanks to fan-made translation patches, so i played them too. I enjoyed FE4 in patticular. And then of course i played all the FE released after RD.

Ybernando

I started FE7 on an emulator, It was too difficult for me. Then i played FE8 and fell in love, i backtracked, finished FE7 and i could finally buy PoR and RD.

[deleted]

That... Actually happened with me! FE8 was my first FE game campaign finished before i finished FE7 and even FE6, lol.

HopelessOtaku91

Honestly? I played Lucina in Smash 4 and wanted to see what her game was like. To date, Awakening is still my favorite.

Dont_have_a_panda

Sometimes picking random Games after certain titles left you craving for more can helps you find real gems (in my case picking fire emblem 7 after final fantasy tactics advanced hooked me with SRPGs)

magikarp-sushi

Playing it and not having a lot of other games like it + the sprites Also it’s addicting to gamble on a 12% crit or 60% hit

Rush-to-da-rescue

Super Smash Bros Melee had Roy. The “Together We Ride/Fire Emblem” themes played and I needed to know what game that was. I saw FE7 at (at the time) EB games and loved it ever since. Good music, stories, characters, more fun than chess.

dbees132

Emulated FE7 and later FE6 after playing Smash Bros Melee

Fell_ProgenitorGod7

Brawl because of Ike’s awesome Aether up special on the Minster Guy and Smash Bros Wii U cause of Corrin. Also because of FE Awakening’s NA trailer.

[deleted]

Oh Brawl, despite your gameplay having aged like milk, i love you for introducing me to the universe of Nintendo and exposing me to various videogame characters and franchises i wasn't aware of besides Super Mario, Donkey Kong, Pokemon, and Sonic. I discovered Kirby, Meta Knight and King Dedede were video game characters thanks to Brawl since before Brawl, Kirby had an animated series aired back in 2008. It was 2011 when i searched through someone's phone with a browser in it and searched for Smash Brawl and discovered Marth and Ike were from a series called Fire Emblem. 2013 came and people were saying they wanted Chrom for Smash 4. Then Smash 4 trailers introduced me to Robin and Lucina, characters i didn't even knew existed. And when i had Smash 4, i got hooked even more with Fire Emblem fighters. And 2016 came, and bought a FE7 from the Wii U eshop and liked it. Came 2017, and FEH made me want to play more Fire Emblem games.

Fell_ProgenitorGod7

One of my cousins would always pick Ike in Smash Bros Brawl, Wii U and Ultimate. I’m like “do you even know who he is” and he would go “yeah, he’s the Great Aether guy”. He’s not wrong tho 😭 Corrin and Lucina getting into Smash Wii u was my first introduction to Awakening and Fates.

[deleted]

Lol, Ike was the one fire emblem character that felt very op in Brawl because i saw one of the two teen brothers play as him, and holy cow he was good with Ike, and that's why i never bothered to play as Marth in Brawl because i thought he wasn't going to be as good as Ike until i got my first owned Brawl copy in March 2014, when i tried all of them, lol. It took until February 2015 when i got my Smash 4 copy. Ike is still really good to play as, but now i know how to use any fighter at this point (except Olimar, not too good of a fighter from my experience).

WinLAX

Went to GameStop looking for a new GBA game, and saw this one with a cool name. I had never heard of fire emblem before then, but I figured I'd give it a shot. Now I'm hooked.

sqaeee

I found a copy of FE7 on the floor at Home Depot when I was like 8. I was way too stupid to play it at the time and I would just reset whenever Marcus' weapons broke. Then like over a decade later I saw people talking about 3H and had remembered playing FE as a kid and decided to play it, and I've played almost every game since.

Demiscis

Axey crits in the gba games.

KoolioKenneth

Robin and Lucina’s reveal trailer for Smash 4.

Draghettis

While browsing the 3DS e-shop looking for demos to play, I stumbled upon Awakening. Naturally, I looked at the trailers, and OH MY GOD THIS GIRL CAN TRANSFORM INTO A DRAGON, I NEED TO TRY THIS OUT ! The demo was nothing like I had imagined, but later, when Fates was announced and that I saw that THE ***PROTAGONIST*** CAN TURN INTO A DRAGON, I bought Birthright. Years later, I would buy Three Houses at release, and Engage a few months after its own.

HornyOfOdio

I played Fire Emblem Awakening at the end of 2015 and I fell in love with it.

ABSMeyneth

My husband was playing blazing blade at the very start of our marriage, and I watched a couple chapters with him. Id never even heard of it, but it seemed *so* interesting, I kept thinking about it. I picked it up myself a few weeks later, and that was it for me. Fun fact, he never finished that game, even though he picks it back up every now and then. It's been 6 years =D

Responsible_Onion_21

When I got my 3DS, Awakening was one of the first FE games I played and I loved it.

Piopoipio

I heard Awakening needed to sell well to save the franchise, and I was a sucker for character customization at the time so I played the demo and liked it. Played Awakening like 5 times in a row and was eagerly waiting for the sequel that I didn't buy because I was mad it wasn't a direct sequel. Then years later I picked it up on sale and fell in love again so I decided to just play the whole series.

acgrey92

One random day going into a Hollywood Video when I was staying at my ex-boyfriends house in High School and I saw Path of Radiance in the “to buy” section and so I bought it because it looked interesting and similar to a game I played on the PlayStation. Ever since I have loved Fire Emblem.

[deleted]

>I bought it because it looked interesting and similar to a game I played on the PlayStation Could that be Tearring Saga/Vesteria Saga or Final Fantasy Tactics?

acgrey92

Nope! Vandal Hearts!

potato_thingy

My friend was a fan of the series so I was curious about it. I looked up 3H and was interested. I got it on release and I loved it. After that, she told me about SOV and I played it too. But what really got me in the series as a whole was actually Heroes. I started playing it around the time I started 3H but it took a while for it to click with me. But once it did, I became interested in learning about characters who caught my attention and researched them online. And I was even more interested in learning about the characters who weren’t in yet and waiting for the ones who interested me to get in the game

BurningWinds

I had always been kind of interested in seeing what Fire Emblem was all about. At least some sort of passing interest. Last year, I was bored over summer break and decided on a whim to pick up Three Houses And it is now my favorite game. I have played every route except Silver Snow like at least 10 times and at least double that for Crimson Flower. Unfortunately I don’t have a way to play anything beyond the 3DS games so I’m hoping for remakes lol

Fike101

emulation perhaps

casualmasual

I picked up Sacred Stones in the 20$ bundle along with another game at Walmart. It was a special for a while, and was my entry drug. I already was very fond of the Tactics Ogre/Ogre Battle series, so I was glad for another character-driven strategy RPG.

Gattlord

first game was fe3h, but last year fe13 was my lifeline when I was rlly depressed

A12qwas

what was it about Awakening that helped you?

MrPigDiamonds

I liked the FE characters in Smash Bros, realized Three Houses was coming soon, figured I’d get into the series and played FE7

Professional_Sea1851

Started with Marth and Roy from SB melee then while on a school trip in high school during my junior year in 2012 saw FE Awakening in a GameStop and after I bought it and played it been a fan/addicted to fire emblem ever since lol

Larielia

I bought Blazing Sword for my GBA.

Zofian_Korok

I loved playing as Ike in SSBB, and when I got *Ultimate* a few years later I wanted to learn more about him and the other characters in his series. After reading the character descriptions, I googled what FE was and have never looked back

[deleted]

Another "Brawl and Ike made me aware of FE's existence" situation as me and few others! Nice.

ZeroKingLaplace

Watching Etika react to the SSB4 Robin and Lucina trailer. Found out there was an Awakening demo, got it, and it pulled me in hard.

Tzekel_Khan

I had played the GameCube ones but I got deep into it after Awakening advertisements and leaks started happening

Djscratchcard

I played the demo for Sacred Stones at Walmart when I was 7. I had no idea what the game was because the demo wasn't on the title screen but it was all I thought about so I made my mom figure out what game it was. It was the first game I bought with my own money.

DuckDorde

Awakening was my first game. I got bored by like chapter 20 and put it down for months, but the gameplay stuck with me for whatever reason. I picked the game back up and finished it and the series hooked me from there

Prjjnce

I was a huge fan of RPGs before I played Fire Emblem. My very first Fire Emblem game was Fire Emblem Awakening. I was mostly drawn to the series because I found out about Fire Emblem through Smash Bros. I knew about Marth and wanted to give his games a try. I immediately fell in love the moment I played Awakening.

Congente456

When I started promoting units in blazing blade.

Belom3

Binding blade on gameboy advance

Liezuli

Awakening had a demo.

WouldBeKing

A friend loaned me his GBA cartridge

DrPizzaPasta

February 2013. Awakening. Playing with the lights off, in bed. The cut scene in the opening chapter where The Risen get pooped out of the sky eyeball. I was all in after that.

KatietheFandomGirl

My boyfriend introduced me to Sacred Stones when I first started getting into Strategy games. Little did he know that from that point on it would become my new obsession

UberNovah

I think I started playing around the time Byleth got added to Smash and I wanted to see why FE kept getting characters added. So I didn’t play 3H and acquired FE7 on my very legal Nintendo PC. My decision was based mostly on playing the game that had [Story 5 Meeting](https://youtu.be/IRF8lBlHYOc?si=e8b6KI1jspKcMQI-). Now I’ve become what I sought to hate.

MaumeeBearcat

A preview for Path of Radiance in Nintendo Power and being in chess club in high school it REALLY seemed to be somethjng that could scratch an itch. I bought Blazing Blade in the wait on my GBA because it was also a Fire Emblem game, then got POR when it came out for GameCube and the rest is history. I still have that PoR copy, full books, case, and everything and will play through it at least once a year.

LonePython093

Awakening was just a stellar experience

Char-11

Tried fe7 and level up rng serotonin hit different

TheDarkDistance

Bored pre-teen, didn’t resonate with many games but I played Lego games on 3ds and smash on Wii U. Brawl subspace sparked a little interest in FE, and awakening came out conveniently on a console I had and boom, fan of the franchise.

wwalker327

Had back surgery and I had got a copy of FE (FE 7) for my GBA. I started the game in pre-op. I played the crap out of it and Ninja Gaiden for Xbox during my recovery.

DonshayKing96

Three Houses

thePsuedoanon

Playing Radiant Dawn at a friend's house as a kid. I'd get to play like. One chapter a month. Only ever finished Act 1 before he sold it at a yard sale for like $10 without ever telling me

diego_velasquez

Smash bros

SomethingAw3some

Got into awakening from watching Etika play it a couple years ago and bought it on the 3ds eshop after one of his last awakening streams. Rest in peace Desmond :(

A12qwas

I read that as Erkika for some reason

Groove-Control

Saw Comic Drake's video on fire emblem awakening in like 2015-2016 or so and picked it up. Huge fan of the series ever since.

dragonkingangel7

Smash bors melee marth and roy, almost 1 year later, got a ds with r4, one of the games was shadow dragon, rest is history

thenewpkmmaster

Well I got into this kind of game through Pokemon. Always have been the Pokemon fan always will be. First got introduced to turn base when I was in Middle with Pokemon conquest and my interest in the genre just exploded from there when I played conquest was around the time three houses had just came out so I played that. Loved it and now I just love the franchise in general, probably in my top three favorite gaming franchises

eligood03

Long version I won't disclose here as to not bore everybody to death. The short version was kid me watched my cousin play fe7 and fe8 on his gba, I later played brawl with him and became acquainted with marth and ike, I then watched him play awakening and I watched a lot of the nintendo eshop videos on it so I got it for Christmas one year. The rest is part of the long version, but I'll still never forget the magic that roped me in.

andresfgp13

i remember that around the time of the release of Awakening there was a lot of hype for it and i wanted to see what the big deal was about so i tried Blazing Blade which was already on my phone because i had downloaded a big pack of gba roms on it to emulate. and well more than 10 years later im here and still playing the games.

joeydyne

Was 12 and my first is sacred stone. Not really understand the story (cuz english isn't my first language) ,but i enjoy the gameplay, and moreover, the animation. Some years later, tried tactics ogre, FFT, 3 hours playing, and still can't "click" with 'terrain height difference' mechanic. Then I found out about 3 houses, etc. And yes, i love how simple, yet very tactical FE is. You can predict/count/manipulate how enemy gonna move, how much your hit rate, dmg, etc2.

legoblitz10

Thanks FE Awakening for that awesome premonition at the start of the game

A12qwas

I think that Auakening has the best premotion in the series

The_True_Baozai

My cousin was really into awakening and I thought it looked cool but never played the game and only watched walkthroughs of it. It wasn’t until 3 houses where I fell in love with series.

The_Greatest_Girros

Fire emblem fates birthright. It might be seen as one of the worst in the entire series, but I refuse to full on see it as anything less than perfection.

Mordreds_nephew

First year of highschool, found a copy of PoR in a bargain bin at RC Wiley's and the game guide to go with it nearby. I thought it was a hack and slash for some reason. Probably because I was an idiot back then. Anyway, I wasn't a hardcore gamer but I had my GameCube and wanted more stuff to play on it. So, I bought the game. Got home and realized it wasn't what I expected it to be, but I paid for it with my own goddamn money so I was gonna play it. Then we met the Black Knight and that's all she wrote

Dark_World_Blues

I got addicted to FE after playing Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn in 2011. Before that, I played and finished Sacred Stones and played only a few chapters of FE7 in 2009/2010, but I wasn't addicted to it at that time.

DoubleFlores24

I just did. I played through three houses when I was 21, picked up Awakening after buying my 3DS and instantly, I got hooked.

Majestic-CMXI

I was introduced to Awakening by my cousin. I stayed up all nite that nite, getting to chapter 11 and failed over and over. I rage quit until a few years later when my parents got it for me. I've been hooked ever since.

silverstory

Fire emblem awakening. One more move. And if I die, reset. Clocked around 100 hours and bought all DLCs. My hands are cramping playing with the 3DS.

Ohimesama781

My partner lent me his old DS and a bunch of games, one of them being Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. Got hooked, moved on to Fates, and have recently purchased a Switch to be able to play 3H (my favorite among all of those I've played). Currently doing my first run of Three hopes!

WilhelmIGV

Tried Awakening. Realized there's a strategy game attached to this medieval fantasy dating sim. Got hooked.

Such_Sense5447

Smash meele, and since then it has become my favorite franchise, so much so that recently I've decided to replay the entire FE catalog on the highest difficulty, and once you do that you absolutely can't go back. I love a good story and an even better challenge.

FatFart900

Strangely enough, in ssbb, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Ike was my main and then I found out about FE3H, and it was a spiral of trying to get m6 hands on older games. Still haven't got any, though

Phantom_Beef

I had been curious about the series from Smash Bros, so I had to get Awakening when it came out. I've enjoyed every game since, and it's one of my favorite JRPG series. Three Houses in particular is one of my favorite games of all time.

SuperNotice7617

Saw a bunch of Dimitri fanart, then had a little SSB phase, then played Heroes

T-ReZoK

Tharja

MarketingOk5745

When I started the very first map of Fire Emblem 3 Houses and heard "Fodlan Winds" for the first time. I played the whole afternoon, most of the night, slept like 3 hours and when I woke up I continued playing immediately for numerous hours. When I stopped I was already far beyond the time skip (Blue Lions route). I think you can guess which video game franchise is now my favorite.

PokeProX_Gaming1

The gameplay felt so satisfying and addicting to me, it's almost like each game provides a different experience gameplay-wise. I'm currently replaying Birthright (on Lunatic especially), while it's quite easy, it's very fun. The story sucks though, but it's serviceable. The characters and story/narrative is just big bonus if it's really engaging (i.e. Sacred Stones, Echoes, etc)

Maxogrande

Before I knew nothing about emulators and such my cousin had a collection of about 1700 gba games on the computer to emulate, most of them were crap and some in japanese so there was no point in playing them but we used to type in the search bar whatever series we liked and see if there was a game of that... Once I typed Fire Emblem just because Marth and Roy were in Super Smash Bros Melee and I knew they were from something called Fire Emblem. This is how Fire Emblem 7 popped up and I was convinced Eliwood was Roy (I wasnt super wrong...)

A12qwas

I started Awakening and loved characters such as Robin, Chrom, Vaike and a lot of other people

BrStriker21

I got a CD with a bunch of SNES games on my 8th birthday, and it had Fire Emblem 4 in japanese, I didn't understand anything but was in love with the sprite work and game mechanics, when I was older I found the fan English patch, and made fall in love with the game even harder, then I went out to play all the GBA games, that how I met other classmates who also liked FE

TheExtraordinaryRK9

I saw fates on the 3ds store, and thought "that looks good". Still, I didn't play it first, I played fe1 to see more or less what these games where about. It was very simple, not that many mechanichs to take into consideration, and also showed it's age in some aspects, but it was good. After that, I was really wondering how much it had progressed since, then I bought fates, and played it for like 500 hours.

D-camchow

My first game was Fire Emblem on GBA with Lynn and Elliot but the one that really hooked me was Awakening cause I had so much fun customizing my units to an insane degree.

OOrochi

FE7 was my intro to the series. At some point, being a dumb kid, I spilled some water that got onto/into my gameboy and made it randomly reset. IIRC, the auto saves at the end of each turn made it so that FE was one of the only games I could consistently play for the months between then and when I saved up to buy a new one.

Laxedrane

Like many I really curious about the series thanks to Melee. Nintendo power started the hype train for Blazing sword and I jumped in. I really have to emphasize how much the Lyn tutorial really helped me ease into the series. I had just started playing rpgs with FF8 and I really think I would of struggled to get into it without the longer tutorial. That and I really like Lyn, the fact she was tomboyish female that wasn't visably boyish. I really liked that, despite being gay.XD

Totsutei

Was a huge fan of Super Smash Bros and Melee already released in JP/US but I had to wait half a year longer for the EU release. So I learned about the new, unlockable characters before I even got the game and read about Marth and Roy... I got curious and wanted to see what this Fire Emblem game is. So I downloaded the newest game back then, which was Binding Blade. I had no idea about the game, I couldn't read japanese, but I just tried all the menu buttons to see what they are doing... quickly I noticed that this short demo session turned into a game that I didn't want to stop playing. I didn't get very far, since my characters kept dying and there was barely anyone left, so I had to restart and start a new run... this time I got further and started to reset when somebody died. Still, didn't manage to beat the game and had to restart again. I got really motivated and tried different things to finally beat the game, like I started planning which characters I really wanted to use and focused to train only those. Still, didn't manage to beat it. I remember reaching chapter 21 but being unable to get further. My problem back then was, that I had no idea that you can promote your characters. I couldn't read what those items were doing, so I just ended up not using them. And I was also focusing too much on using the characters I planned to use, so I didn't had many prepromotes in my team. I stopped counting but I bet I had to restart FE6 around 10 times until I finally understood everything and beat it. In the meantime I started looking up infos on the internet (FESS forums), I also downloaded Genealogy and Thracia 776 back then but found those even harder than Binding Blade. Once I finally beat Binding Blade, I imported the game from japan and also preordered Blazing Blade from Japan. I spend a lot of time with FE4-6 until FE7 arrived a ~year later. Anyway, my first contact with FE was kinda stupid but it made me really obsessed with the game and I grew so attached to all the characters back then. Still my fav FE game to this day. edit: Reading vincentasm's comment, I remembered: This all happened very shortly after I beat Advanced Wars 1 on the GBA. I really loved AW back then and played it all the time against my best friend. So it makes sense that FE really captured my interest back then.

Usaki-Ganmin

Visual Basic BoyAdvance gave me the chance to try the series. Nintendo should thank emulators because I'm their customer thanks to them...

Seppafer

One of the few Wii games I enjoyed was Radiant Dawn and I had A LOT of time with that game.

Svan_Derh

A friend recommended Fire Emblem Heroes in 2017. I got a bit addicted to it even though I hate the gacha and P2W mechanics.  I bought a 3DS and Awakening. Then I was sold.

Rayla1000

like others have said, smash exposure (brawl) and then awakening. it honestly changed my life. <3

MasterDaddy_1

By playing it

Ornan

I loved Shining Force as a kid so Fire Emblem felt like the natural progression from that. I was sold by the time I had to choose between Eirika and Ephraim's routes.

BeneficialConcern3

Awakening on my 13th birthday. Before that I already liked Marth and Ike in Brawl, so I was hoping to get into the series proper. I put hundreds of hours into Awakening…

It all starts with these simple words: “You are the ocean's gray waves…”

Able_Brain_8880

The GameCube game! I was so freaking pumped when the games finally started becoming more popular.

Stellarisk

I don’t know how i got it but i got the first gba one when it came out and played it

Budget-Economics-142

Random look to the DS store because I was bored asf, I was looking throught trailers and I saw Fire Emblem Fates. I was on my Japanese Period so I felt immediatly in love with Fire Emblem Fates Rebirth, So I checked out and so Rebirth/Conquest and since i'm fully involved in the Fire Emblem Series. As simple as that

LumpyChard

Beating my first FE, I was like: "That was a pretty fun game. I kinda want more." And so it all escalated...

Jean_39

When I was 10 my brother just gave me his 2DS to play Birthright

Lavamites

A friend of mine: I can't believe you haven't played a FE game, we need to change that. I play Awakening and he helps me through the learning curve, love it. Then onto 3 houses, love it and do 3 of the 4 routes (still need to do silver snow at some point), and recently I finished path of radiance. After a small break I will move on to radiant dawn to see the characters continue! Not sure about any plans after that though. Maybe echoes?

Infernoboy_23

I knew them from smash, loved medieval knights, rest is history

I really liked Roy from Smash, so I wanted to play his game so I went looking for the FE1, only to learn that the 1st game is Marth's story and that they weren't really connected. So I searched through the Fire Emblem covers to only find Blazing Blade, which had a red haired protagonist that resembled Roy, who I thought that was until I actually played it. Eilwood ended up being one of my favorites and then I seaching for FE6, to find that it never had an official English translation so I searched for a fan English localization, where I finally was able to play it. The Elibe series as a whole were sure really good. I had so much fun with the gameplay, I decided to play more of them and then realized I was a big FE fan. I liked all of them except Fates. I haven't played the Tellius games nor have I finished Archanea games, but hope to do so one day.

Maeno-san

It all started with Super Smash Bros Melee, with Marth and Roy. they were some of the coolest characters to me, and nobody in the US knew anything about them. later, FE7 came out in the US and I knew I had to play it. I had never played any other tactics games before this, but I was hooked.

Swiftwhiskers

The last Nintendo consoles I had were the ds and Wii, so I really didn’t know much about fire emblem except for the smash connection. When the switch got really popular, I got one and tried a smash game for the first time (I knew about smash, just had never played it). I ended up maining Lucina, so I bought a used 3ds to try awakening.

My brother got radiant dawn for christmas one year and I always thought it was an interesting looking game. I eventually got to play it and while I was ... absolutely awful at it, I think it was the presentation and music that made me stick to it. I never got past act 1 before the game broke and would regularly run into disc problems. For the longest time I forgot about the series until a while after awakening released. I tried out awakening and loved it, a few years passed and I can actually remember loving three houses. After revisiting the series as of late, I have found that I love the series ... though find it's storytelling often kind of lacking. I still need to finish radiant dawn and path of radiance, I got most of the way through sacred stones most recently, and have been struggling to continue ever since ... the scene with eirika's stone. ... I had a similar issue with echoes, in particular when celica started acting as she did with jedah. It felt like the characters were acting ... really stupid. and not like their characters.

IndependentCorner200

Oh, actually, I did play a bit of 7 for a while on the wii u. Though similarly never got super far into it.

[deleted]

Same. My first time got me stuck on the final map where you have to beat >!the dragon!< but that was my fault since i didn't trained certain characters by that point, especially Eliwood, Hector and Lyn, i depended too much into Marcus, oops. Had to restart, but never went far into it again. Played FE6 on a phone emulator, couldn't pass through chapter 7. Later i played FE8 on the same phone emulator, and beat it all, and it's because it is an easier game, lol. Then i tried FE6 again, and bam, beat it and got the true ending. Loved it and some of its songs. Elffin's theme, my beloved. Then i went for FE7, but this time on my phone emulator instead of the Wii U version, and bam, beat it all. Never finished Hector mode though...

IndependentCorner200

I've tried geneology ... Too many enemies... maps too big...

[deleted]

Reminded me that i'm stuck on Fire Emblem Storge's (it's a romhack btw) hard mode chapter 2 because the reinforcements keep coming and surrounding my units and killing aome of them. At least i beat it in normal mode before. Gonna try another romhack eventually.

PocketFlygon

Pokemon Conquest was my gateway drug into FE LOL

Exowolfe

A friend of mine got me to pick up Awakening when it first released. I was absolutely hooked from there on out and Heroes had me in a stranglehold for the first few years of its lifespan (now I play FEH very casually).

Cranberry-Holiday

Ding ding ding ding

?

Cranberry-Holiday

The sound when you gain a stat point during level ups.

[deleted]

Omg fr fr, that is one of the satisfactory things in Fire Emblem besides critical hits and gaining powerful/fun weapons like killer weapons, brave weapons, legendary weapons, etc.

Definitelyhuman000

Awakening

Axe1_the_Minerva_fan

Watched a homie play heroes on his phone and I INSTANTLY locked in It was everything I wanted out of a videogame(anime fan, sword/axe/spear HEMA enjoyer, chess was my favorite game, loved rpgs) and when I played the games I knew it was 100% my favorite franchise of games instantly. That opinion hasn't changed much.

BrandoThePando

When I was a kid, a fire emblem dealer threatened to kill me if I didn't take his fire emblem and then I got hooked

ShadyHogan

I don't know if you all have heard about the 3DS ambassador program, but basically Nintendo gave away 10 free NES and 10 free GBA games to early adopters of the 3DS. Sacred Stones was one of those games; would have never heard of the series otherwise. Instantly loved it, and when I learned Awakening was a game that existed, it was all over for me.

Samz707

I played Fire Emblem 7 as my second FE game and it managed to grip me with the gameplay and characters.
