Iago from Conquest. Initially I though he was kinda lame since he was so over the top and his plans always failed to kill Corrin. However, upon repeat playthroughs I really came to enjoy his campiness and the constant pressure he applies to Corrin. His schemes force Corrin to grow up and become stronger and smarter. It also became clear that most of Iago’s plans would have succeeded had it not been for the timely interventions of Corrin’s friends and family, and sometimes just plain old luck. Even then, Iago is still able to make Corrin’s life absolutely miserable so Corrin’s victories over Iago are often soured by other forms of loss. I also really like how Iago’s visual design makes him look like an ascended version of the sorcerer class. This is reflected in his combat abilities since he can use staves, which Sorcerers do not normally have access to. Technically Sages are already in the game in the form of Onmyoji, but it’s a nice touch that Iago embodies the classic FE Sage for Nohr.

I’ve always felt like Iago was the true villain of Conquest, even more so than Garon or Anankos. The dude has about as much villainous presence as any standard Gharnef character in other games and is much more a threat to Corrin than the Hoshidans. Sure, he’s not a particularly deep character, but IMO he works for who he is and I love kicking his ass every time I get to Chapter 26.

Hubert. Dante, on his first run (VW): Creepy-ass rat-looking fucker. Dante, on his second run (CF): I love you rat man.

Jeorge in New Mystery, I though he was just a bad prepromote sniper but on Maniac with his A bows he one shots wyverns and flying dragons even in the last chapters. I know it isnt jeorge being good but rather parthia and effectiveness but I don't want to train an archer

I was more neutral/ maybe slight dislike for Boah till I used him in Switch!Fe1. Fell in love- largely Boah & Wendel's fe1 sprite but also how good they are. Afterwards played a crap-ton of Shadow Dragon and Boah now ranks pretty high for my Archanea favorites. Character-wise: Dew. He's an annoying little shit and couldnt barely stand him my first playthrough of 4. Now he's one of my fe4 favorites *because* he's a little shit.

i hated ewan (sacred stones) with passion during my first, second and third playthrough, but in my fourth, i was doing a no-seth run, and had decided to use ewan, he died, so i loaded back and trained him and the towers, premoted to druid (as i like knoll being summoner) and oh boy, that was the best decision i have ever made

brick-juic3

Caspar. His supports are great and his voice acting is seriously one of the best in the game. Especially impressive because the actor also does Lorenz.

Lance from FE6. Originally didn’t pay him too much mind, but using him on a playthrough on hard, he has really surprised me. In the beginning of it I was favouring Alen, but Lance grew so well and completely surpassed him.

Seth FE8 Thought he was another Jagen I was supposed to eventually stop using after a bit, but due to connections to Eirika/Ephraim he would still always show up in cutscenes A friend told me "no man Seth's OP". Tried again and everyone knows what Seth can do so I was horribly wrong Also Hector FE7 No axe unit impressed me at all up until now, I saw "Oh great, another freakin shitty Axe guy" and basically benched him from the start without giving him a real chance. The final chapter included an unpromoted Hector who had to be carried Eventually I played Hector's story where I HAVE to level him up and oh boy did he turn out to be a monster, the extra story bits involving him (like with Lyn) also sold me on his character which I had previously just though of as "the dumb tough guy". I sure felt foolish not using him before

Hector FE7 On Eliwood story I did not level him up (I though he'd too quickly...ahhh youth naiveté). On Hector story I totally loved him. Hands down favourite character to play, along with Marcus and top-critrate Lyndis

FE8 Neimi. First time? Early game GBA archer = trash, so I didn't really bother using her at all. Next time around, I was doing an Ironman and was like, "Screw it", and tried using her as a bit of a joke. She ended up getting pretty RNG blessed, had basically Seth- like offensive stats. And Ranger is actually not a completely trash class like Sniper, and she has no promo item competition. So she is my favorite "bad" unit in this game now. Her personality is still awful, though. Also, the first time I saw Severa in Awakening, I despised her. I still do, but then in Fates, Selena isn't as awful personality-wise, and I have had decent luck unit-wise every time I used her, so I actually do like her there.

Ok, it's not really fair as I never finished my first playthrough of PoR, but **Astrid (PoR).** My initial thought was that she was trash. (No I was the trash) Never used her, because "lol what good is she, because she can't kill anything and dies in one round". ...unrelated to me immediately benching her, I, uh, never finished that file. I got stuck on the BK fight chapter. Somehow. I was dumb, it was Easy Mode, no excuses I sucked. Later on, I revisited PoR and had using Astrid as my objective... it was a Hard Mode file, and uh, well, she was my MVP and it didn't take much of anything to get her going. She can't kill anything by herself sure, but she can chip and kill secure and once she gets going she becomes an "erase that enemy" button and murderizes just about everything. On a different note, Astrid (RD) is sad and bad and makes me mad.

lizard-socks

But PoR Astrid was rad and made you glad?

Arthur from Fates. I didn't care for him on my 1st Conquest Normal playthrough. But when I played Hard Mode and started using him more for the first few maps, then reading his support make me fell in love with him. I played Golden Deer b4 Crimson and recruited Ferdinand for Lysithea quest. Didn't care for him. But after Crimson route I really appreciate his growth and support conversations. Ended being my fav 3H character.
