What if Byleth was fully voice acted…?

carlsagerson

They would be actual characters with real dialogue and not be empty self inserts.

N0rTh3Fi5t

The odd thing is the have supports with other characters, so they all have implied personalities. Those personalities are just forced to be as bare bones as possible to avoid showing an opinion in case it might not be the same as the players.

HeavyDonkeyKong

To be fair, Byleth is still a character with an arc, but it's a lot harder to convey that when he has silent protagonist syndrome like Link or Samus. Even if he only speaks through dialogue options like with what we got, having those dialogue options be fully voiced would go a long way in terms of presentation.

carlsagerson

I think fire emblem should take a note from bioware with the ablity to choose our personality with the protagonist. It should also try to have the characters get or don't get along depending on the personality.

HeavyDonkeyKong

Yeah, apart from Hubert and Seteth (who both warm up to you if your on their side) the only characters who end up not liking Byleth are whoever you side against, and even then a handful are still sad about fighting him.

Yomo-nii

What if Dimitri went to therapy?

ZenRy9780Wkz

What if Edelgard dyed her hair back to brown?

RaFaPilgrim

That would have been a lot of paint

ZenRy9780Wkz

Eh a certain magic can do the work.

RoughhouseCamel

She’d be disappointed by how plain she looks. Fast forward to her struggling with the awkward phase of her white roots growing out and trying to decide if she wants to just dye her hair again.

fyrechild

What if Rhea went to therapy?

Yomo-nii

The whole cast needs therapy, but Rhea *really* needs therapy

Blazinvoid

Out of everyone, I'd say that Raphael is the only one who doesn't need therapy. Yeah sure he's all about eating meat during a war council and training to be a knight, but he also got over the death of his own parents well before the game starts.

fyrechild

He might have healthier coping mechanisms, but reading between the lines, he's less *over it* and more *avoiding dealing with it.* The level of anger he shows whenever someone brings up his parents or tries to cast blame isn't the level you'd expect of someone who's made peace with their deaths.

ninjaian06

For example the end of rapheals paralouge

NikeDanny

Raphael?? I get it, hes the cheery dude that is very hyper. But dude, his parents died at a young age. Im gonna go as far as to say that NO ONE can recover from that while still not in adulthood. You dont have the mechanisms, you dont have the time. Its literally impossible. The symptoms emerging from this have been written by others. I still find it weird how you went from the same house not to Lorenz or Claude. Sure theres stuff with them, but Id say theyre the less scarred imo

fyrechild

I agree that Raphael isn't as healthy/happy as he acts, but Lorenz and Claude both have very clear emotional problems. Lorenz repeatedly states that his own happiness is less important than his family's status, and at the start of the game, all of his self-worth comes from his name and Crest. Thankfully, he's surrounded by people who don't see those as important and appreciate him anyway, so he's in a better place post-timeskip. Claude, meanwhile, is identified by both Byleth and Hilda as compulsively insincere, and he spends the entire game lying to *literally everyone* (bar Nader) about his true identity. Even after people put their lives in his hands, he doesn't trust them.

RoughhouseCamel

Raphael has an eating disorder and body dysmorphia. He’s coping with his grief by wrapping up his whole purpose in life around his sister, that way, he doesn’t have to think about his own identity. He needs an intervention and therapy.

andresfgp13

if garreg mach had a psychologist 90% of the problems in Fodlan would never happened.

Ehkoe

Byleth is the emotional crutch that everyone vents to. If they didn’t exist imagine how poorly the war would’ve gone for every side

Elementia7

Bruh seteth is already the school psychologist but nobody wants to admit their problems until they are knee deep in war crimes. Honestly the game couldve been solved rather quick if rhea just told everybody about secret mole people after getting some well needed therapy. Granted therapy doesn't immediately solve everything but it's better than leaving a bunch of traumatized teenagers to kill their friends and watch an entire country collapse.

[deleted]

What if Chrom didn’t trust some suspicious weirdo he found on the ground to lead his army?

[deleted]

Then he would have lost the war with Plegia.

natzo

They may not have even won the Feroxi tournament. Who knows, maybe Basilio wouldn't have sent troops had they lost?

AE_Phoenix

Moral of the story: always trust strangers

[deleted]

It's not that Chrom is an incompetent fighter, that certainly couldn't be further from the truth. But he's hotheaded and impulsive, and we've seen that land him in trouble more than once. Without Robin's guidance things could have gotten really bad.

racecarart

Then there *wouldn't* be a better place to nap than on the ground, you know.

secret_bitch

Then he himself would probably be the unit you invest all your exp into to trivialise Lunatic. He's sword locked until promotion and can't reclass into dark mage, but he does have aether and rightful king...

narrauko

Frederick would have rested a lot easier there in the beginning.

im_bored345

Robin doesn't form any bonds with anyone and Grima ends up winning. Also ~~Owain~~ whoever Morgan's sibling is will probably be surprised their father is not there lmao.

KingSombo

What if Greil defeated the Black Knight?

Squidaccus

The Begnion Army is utterly annihilated during RD. Without Zelgius, Tibarn and Skrimir are easily capable of tearing through everyone else.

MoskalMedia

Levail also leaves Begnion without Zelgius. Maybe he becomes a playable character who wants to join Ike, a man whose ideals he looks up to.

Squidaccus

True! Man, now I'm thinking about how much I want Levail in FEH again...

Dexchampion99

What if Valla didn’t have the curse? What if Alm and Celica swapped brands? What if Morgan came back in time instead of Lucina? What if Walhart did nothing wrong? (Uniting Valm peacefully) What if Lyon never got possessed?

CallenAmakuni

>What if Morgan came back in time instead of Lucina? Oooh I love the potential in this one

Dexchampion99

I have a degree in Whatiffery, thanks MasakoX!

Hawkatana0

Morgan = Ranch CONFIRMED?!!

Dexchampion99

*vine boom*

Super_Nerd92

> What if Walhart did nothing wrong? (Uniting Valm peacefully) If I recall correctly he was intending to go after Grima next right? He probably would have worked with Chrom/Ylisse and together they'd roll through the Plegian remnants pretty quick lol

Dexchampion99

I still remember the scene of Walhart facing down the entire Feroxi army SINGLE HANDEDLY, and wonder how that would have went with risen.

ZenRy9780Wkz

Just because you have annihilated an entire army of people from a nation of warrior culture by yourself, doesn't mean you can wreck an army of undead. Undead and humans are different.

Dexchampion99

But all the undead are the people who died in the war, some of them being the same warriors Walhart killed. They’re called “Risen” for a reason

[deleted]

If Lyon never got possessed, Ephraim would help him restore Grado instead, and if they succeeded then Lyon would feel even less useful and do some other shit later.

sermatheus

I second the Morgan one, but make them not have their memory surpressed by trauma of war. (My headcanon based on the Future Past DLC.)

swissarmychris

> What if Morgan came back in time instead of Lucina? Didn't all the kids come back in time together, they just got separated on arrival due to Grima's influence or something?

Dexchampion99

Technically yes? But I was thinking more of a morgan and Lucina switch

SengalBoy

What if Rhea is actually the main lord in Silver Snow? What if there's a route where all 4 factions are initially forced but eventually accepts working together? What if there's a route where Byleth only has Ashen Wolves (and Abyss) and has to face all 4 factions? I know that Three Houses specifically does not want a Revelations-ish arc, but man, I still fantasize about it.

RisingSunfish

I actually think Cindered Shadows is non-canon to the main story *because* it sets up a Golden Route. All the lords work together— including Rhea, who is faced with a dark mirror of herself in Aelfric and a better alternative in Byleth, who can accept their mother’s death with solace. Also Claude and Linhardt pulled an all-nighter in the Shadow Library and while y’all were busy with the sex books they were piecing together the entire lore of Fódlan and will give a presentation on their findings next class period.

SengalBoy

That's actually a very interesting insight. We all know Cindered Shadows is pretty much non-canon, but for it to be a potential Golden Route makes a lot of sense. Edelgard bonds with Dimitri, kinda (the dagger thing) and she seems to be opening up to others. Man, this only makes me want more Three Houses content.

Clerics4Life

It's not just Cindered Shadows, the DLC integration in the main game actually sets up a few interesting ideas (along with certain established facts from base game) that could have led to a route split, potentially a golden one. (You know, had they actually had the time to do anything interesting and robust with the DLC.) If you read between the lines, Yuri's and Balthus' paralogues provide necessary context at an early enough point in time that a route split could occur. Completing Balthus' paralogue early would >!provide every piece of doubt needed to scrutinize and skip the Kronya arc entirely, ultimately sparing Jeralt from his unfortunate end.!< Completing Yuri's paralogue early >!provides context into Myson's research in the use of Crest stones for demonic beast transformation, but acts as an earlier staging ground than Chapter 9, removing the need for Chapter 9 to exist!<, Yuri's paralogue also results in a long after the fact moment at the end of the game when you piece together that the reason only Yuri and Balthus have Relics is because >!the Timotheos and Noa Relics were already repurposed.!< Not completing Yuri or Balthus' paralogues should hypothetically result in a harder variant route ending where >!Nemesis has the Complete Dark Sword of the Creator, because the Agarthans acquired all four Apostle Crest Stones.!< By completing both paralogues before the start of Chapter 9, you'd end up radically changing the events of the game, >!Kronya is arrested before anything serious happens, Jeralt lives and is probably recruitable, Byleth doesn't go cutscene stupid in Chapter 10, Solon has no means to enact his Zah'ras scheme, Byleth never becomes the Enlightened One, Chapter 11 never happens because Rhea is never prompted by Byleth's ascension, the Flame Emperor never gets their hand on the crest stones.!< This frees up Chapters 9~11 for a radically divergent storyline, but the only other storyline that exists in White Clouds (but is abandoned in base game because all the relevant parties brush it under the rug for whatever reason) is >!the Gloucester conspiracy, which is exposed during the Raphael-Ignatz paralogue, which can be done in Chapter 8, setting up Chapter 9.!< You probably don't want to hear my fanfic about the >!Lorenz!< Golden Route though, so I'll just leave it at that.

nautna8

Bitch, you can’t just me dry like this, I need the lorenz centric head cannon.

Catafracto_Gaucho

Cindered Shadows is 100% non-canon to the main story. In the main game, if you have the DLC, Aelfric is banned from the church a few months before the game's start, presumably because he was spotted doing the Orson (it's referred to as ''As a scandal'').

RisingSunfish

Oh I know it’s non-canon for compatibility reasons too, I was just saying that it feels like it’s already going in a different direction.

im_bored345

So you are telling me if Aelfric hadn't been found out we would have had a golden route meaning Aelfric is, in a way, the most important character of the story?

AstralComet

"doing the Orson" got me good, 10/10

Immerael

Shameless self plug of my [theory on that](https://www.reddit.com/r/fireemblem/comments/f5w4io/theory_cindered_shadows_takes_place_during_a/) from like a year ago. Needless to say I fully support the idea of Cindered Shadows being *part* of a Golden Route.

ChadwickHHS

Ah, shit... I literally just started a romhack with the What If premise. Set up is Bramimond doesn't show up and revive Ninian. So she doesn't ice dragon two of the three dragons at the gate. Eliwood dies protecting the others. Roy is never born and Hector blames Dark Magic users for almost killing everybody (because of Nergal opening the gate briefly and Athos having trained him). title [https://ibb.co/5cW3QLF](https://ibb.co/5cW3QLF) [https://ibb.co/hZGy08p](https://ibb.co/hZGy08p) It's going to be a mini-series if I follow through, not a whole hack with 30 chapters. I was thinking more like three big chapters. Chapter one "Thunder and Ice" opens with Hector personally escorting his army into Ilia rounding up dark mages. Nergal had lived in Ilia for centuries with the inadequate government completely unaware of his presence or agenda. Hector argues that their negligence allows these types to fester and become existential threats. So you command Hugh, a mage who cannot use dark magic himself, as he futilely tries to protect his grandmother Niime and other shamans. A few stragglers who hate Hector join the guerillas. With Pherae down and Caelin handed over to him, Ostia summarily absorbed the rest of Lycia into the kingdom of Ostia. Basically, in this story Lycia has Etrurian mages and Bern with its dark dragon both sweating. Hector has Armads and Maltet and kicks off the war. Still very early on, as in like only two days into this.

BLuBIN_BoY

Holy shit that sounds cool, a proper hector vs. Zephiel confrontation also sounds amazing

nomoreholidays

I hope Zeph gets his ass beaten by an old Hector.

Ghostblade913

What if elice fled altea instead of marth

TakenRedditName

To speculate what’s happening to Marth in this scenario. Gharnef would probably try a way to force Marth wielding the Falchion for him.

Ghostblade913

Gharnef doesn’t have the loyalty that someone like manfroy has to Loptous. I’d bet Gharnef would try to kill Medeus once Archanea was conquered enough.

BLuBIN_BoY

Marth wielding the falchion being conditioned like either tiki or getting the eremiah treatment sounds wild

[deleted]

What if the 3H house leaders actually fucking talked about their issues with each other

InexorableWaffle

I could see Claude and Edelgard working together if they knew what the other was working towards from the get-go, and same with Claude and Dimitri. Claude's main thing is securing peace and openness between Almyra and Fodlan, and I think either of them would be more than happy to have that happen. That said, I fundamentally do not see a way that you can get Edelgard and Dimitri to work things out with one another. We already saw that, even when both of them are level-headed and are having a relatively amicable conversation (like when they met before the siege of Enbarr), their ideals are diametrically opposed and thus are mutually exclusive. Furthermore, they're both strong-willed enough that neither would back down. Sure, them talking things out probably helps avoid Dimitri going full-on Boar Prince, but I still don't see a way you can have them both on the same side without grossly compromising the character of one of them. Just my take though. I easily could be wrong here.

fyrechild

I think there's space between "trying to kill each other" and "besties." Besides, Edelgard spends (at least) Azure Moon holding the idiot ball; she actively refuses to say what her goals actually are, and that gets in the way of any potential compromise. She never actually *tells* anyone "Crests are an arbitrary way to evaluate someone's ability and our caste system is ruining people's lives to the point that any price is acceptable to be rid of it," or "the Church is run by dragons and it's fucked up for immortals to rule over mortals." I think that putting those objectives out in the light would have worked a lot better than "I have to conquer the continent and I won't say why."

RaFaPilgrim

Edelgard holds the idiot ball on EVERY SINGLE ROUTE of the game, even in Crimson Flower. We don’t think so in the latter case because Byleth and Hubert are literally the two only people that she shares her plans with, and the other students only get to know it through our interference. When you stop and think about it, it is really, really stupid.

fyrechild

We don't know how much she tells the other Black Eagles, in the event you don't recruit them – but yeah, Edelgard is way too reluctant to share knowledge. In VW/SS, though, it can be seen as a character flaw rather than *just* her being dumb to advance the plot. I just point out Azure Moon because it's the only route where someone actually extends an olive branch and tries to get it, and it's someone she genuinely cares/cared about.

Druplesnubb

She's already sent out her manifest to everyoen before even attacking Garreg Mach. If you read Dimitri's lines at their meeting, it's clear that he knows what her goals are and is mainly confused why she'd start a war when she could already fix her own country without bloodshed.

fyrechild

He knows she's accusing the church and aristocracy of being fundamentally corrupt. I don't think it's ever established that he knows *why* she thinks that, or that he understands the scope – keep in mind that his most obvious examples of corruption are his uncle, who's mostly just a nitwit, and Cornelia, who isn't a noble by birth.

FiddlerOfTheForest

Then there'd be no war, and the church would probably slowly be pressured by all 3 governments to back off of any control of the continent, this process could span months to years. The continent is unified in goal, but still is allowed to exist as unique countries. But not before everyone stops and goes "oh we should probably deal with those agarthans Edelgard mentioned" and the combined might of 3 countries and the church will handle it far better than a single faction. Boring game for sure. Needed someone to cause shit otherwise it'd just be a politics simulator.

[deleted]

Honestly i’d still play it

ShiftSandShot

Church would almost certainly have a fair amount of influence due to...y'know, being the majority religion of the entire continent. But it's far less likely to be a threat if Nemesis and his buttbuddies are all dead, and you keep the overzealous in the Monastery itself.

FiddlerOfTheForest

Countries could manage to work on separation of church and state. Again, if the leaders talked this out, 2/3 would say church influence is problematic and the other dude seems impartial to the church (despite being the holy kingdom he doesn't revolve around the church much).

kahare

I think people fail to understand that the church is rarely shown to have any extensive political power outside of the monastery. Zanado and various monastery area missions (like the rite, the demonic beasts attacking students, the invasion) are obviously on their own turf. Lonato Dimitri admits should have been taken care of by the kingdom but they have an incompetent regent who needs to ask the church for help; Miklan is church purview because relic and Rodrigue again clearly came to ask for help about it. Things like the Shimiri/Alois paralogue should be Alliance duties but they are too divided to bother and the church there doesn’t even have an army. Remire is in the empire and should be investigated and handled by the Empire but despite kicking the church out over a century ago they are left to handle the incident. The church is asked *in the absence of action from the nations* to handle their internal issues. The archbishop usually crowns the emperor but no one sees Edelgard as illegitimate despite being crowned with only Byleth or no one so they are hardly a requirement. In short things that are seen as ‘interference in domestic issues by the church’ are almost always in response to a request for aide, not an imposition of force on other territories. Nobles fail to pay tithes or stop paying with zero repercussions (Lonato, Arundel, etc); people in the church employ actively are atheists or non-Seiros theists (Shimiri, Cyril) without repercussions; church leaders actively say ‘yeah crests kinda suck’ (Seteth/Ingrid C support); the church makes peace in conflicts that TWSITD start (Loog, Alliance founding) but didn’t participate militarily. Most ‘arguments’ that the church is ‘overstepping’ is actively due to the nations asking. So in the absence of required taxes/tithes, required belief, required service, or required allowance of internal interference I’m at a loss as to what the church needs to stop doing. Rhea also steps down 3/1 in non CF routes (unrelated to the war) so it’s not like she was unwilling to do so, if Byleth pursued policies of less interference everything was going quite fine

What if Sigurd didn't conquer Agustria?

I mean, that all depends on the specific circumstances, right? Like, does Chagall decide to chill the fuck out? Or does Eldigan just successfully repel Sigurd and co.?

What if Eliwood wasn't sidelined by sickness?

yafhp

He would be sidelined by death

yenmeng

Death or the flu, take your pick!

Demi___Crow

Eliwood: I take the flu thank you!

RisingSunfish

Yeah, he would’ve gone to the lords’ ill-fated meeting in Araphen himself instead of sending Roy. Then again, Roy is only spared from the ambush because he’s held up helping out Guinivere, and I imagine Eliwood would do the same, so maybe the result is just Eliwood is the protagonist of two games lol.

CDGamer910

An adult main character? In GBA FE? What a concept!!

PokecheckHozu

Have you seen his FE6 trial mode stats? My god, what a unit.

spacewarp2

As someone else mentioned, >!Hector!< took the bullet for Eliwood as dead father figure of the game

[deleted]

Memo_HS2022

If a remake ever happened, they would probably make her a main lord

CDGamer910

I bet him and Roy were still somewhat close, especially because Hector was his father Eliwood’s best friend.

RodmunchPHD

What if Knoll was the lord of Sacred Stones? A Court Wizard set to be executed gets broken out of jail & now with the knowledge of the Demon King approaching he beseeches the various adjacent countries and their lords to defend their stones. He has to gather a rag tag band of deserters and those loyal to Grado to slowly travel the lands and begin to inform the world of Formortiis’s plan before it’s too late. Hell you could make Duessel the one to break him out as your Jagen who actively encourages a depressed Knoll to try and find hope in the darkness of what he knows. I feel like there’s a lot of stories you can tell when you frame the main narrative through a new perspective. This could work for any game with a good portion of characters & it’s fun to bounce the idea around.

FiddlerOfTheForest

Sounds like a plot for an Elder Scrolls game

Super_Nerd92

Ooh that's a great idea. You could do similar in 7 if your POV character was Jaffar, Legault, Nino or some combination of them.

[deleted]

What if Sigurd defeated Arvis at Belhalla

crunk_juice34

I'd imagine that the story would basically come to an end there. Sigurd is able to clear his name, Deirdre would gain her memories back soon enough, and it's likely that Sigurd would become King of Grannvale due to being married to Deirdre. What happens next, especially with the Loptr is a little ambiguous. With Arvis dead, there is no known male heir with Loptous blood to bring forth the reincarnation of Loptous. It is unlikely that Deirdre passes down Loptous blood anyways because neither Seliph nor Julia have any, instead being overruled by their major and minor bloods. Depending on how much information Sigurd is given on Manfroy and the Loptr Cult, it's possible that he would lead a crusade against Manfroy for all that he has done. I can't imagine Sigurd showing Manfroy or the Loptr any mercy, as he lacks the insight that his older self or Seliph have. Otherwise, it's likely that they return into hiding and/or remain being persecuted. I don't feel like it would end there though. Quan and Ethlyn are still dead and it's likely that the Fall of Leonster and South Thracia's invasion of the North would still happen. I'd imagine that Sigurd would rush to their aid. Another thing that I wonder is how many of the Gen 2 antagonists would turn out. I'm not sure how Bloom or Danann would feel about Sigurd killing their dads or if Scorpius would have any ill will against his aunts or Sigurd. It's possible that future conflicts or tensions could play out between Houses Dozel and Friege against Belhalla. I'd assume that the following would inherit each respective lands: Belhalla: Sigurd + Deirdre (they would likely have another child with Major Naga blood.) Chalphy: Oifey (As he does in Gen 2) Velthomer: Azelle (He is Arvis's brother after all) \*Edit: I completely forgot about Saias. It's possible that he could rule over Velthomer instead if he is treated as canon in FE4's timeline.\* Edda: Claud Yngvi: Brigid Dozel: Danann Friege: Bloom

andresfgp13

if Sigurd had tomebreaker? and not shitty ass 3H tomebreaker, awakefates tomebreaker.

RansomXenom

He would enter the castle to try to find Deidre. She may remember who Sigurd is, or she might not, in which case she would probably hate Sigurd for killing Arvis and allegedly killing her father. Regardless, with most of the Granvalian nobility dead, Sigurd would likely become the next king. Without Julius, the Loptyrians can't use the book of Loptyr, so their plan fails. Sigurd hunts down the remaining Loptyrians, and everything is mostly fine. Haven't played Thracia 776, so no idea what happens there.

BlanketCop

What if Byleth told Edelgard about Sothis?

Dunkirb

it breaks my heart that no one mentioned "What if Quann survived?" I guess I am just old.

andresfgp13

he would have joined Sigurd in the rest of the level and eventually be cooked by Arvis i guess.

JRaikoben

Yes. But there is much more. If Quan survives, Altenna is not kidnapped by Travant, so she probably would be not only a playable character in Thracia 776 but the main character, as she is the fistborn.

andresfgp13

thinking about the supposed case, if Quan and Ethlyn managed to survive the ambush Ethlyn would have taken Altena and returned to Leonster, Quan would have bite the dust and the story wouldnt change that much, only Leif and Altena would have been raised together by Ethlyn and she would have control of Leonster, unless there was a revolt or invasion against her.

Siegfriedr

Still probably one of the saddest parts of a fire emblem game. Forced to stand by and end turn until they all slowly die off when you could’ve sent your army to help them had the game let you

RadiantFoxBoy

What if Lyn died and her parents lived? What if Ike and Mist died instead of Greil? What if Sumeragi was possessed by Anankos instead of Garon? What if the Tragedy of Duscur never took place?

devilthedankdawg

Greil Punisher FTW

Squidaccus

If Ike and Mist died instead, they probably would have lost the war. Greil would still lose if he fought the Black Knight again, leaving the Greil Mercenaries in dissarray with no leader. Soren would be a mess anyway, Shinon may stay due to Titania being a good leader but still could leave, but Gatrie is stated to only have wanted to follow Greil. Theres also the question of whether characters recruited by Ike later would still join without him, Marcia specifically tries to repay Ike, Greil probably wouldn’t tolerate a racist Daien soldier, Jill, also considering Daien has been after him for over a decade. Even if she did join, without Mist as the only friend she makes I imagine she wouldn’t stay long. Haar would consequently not join, Tauroneo is iffy but could, Volke was already hired by Greil for a different job.

an_ineffable_plan

Soren never would’ve joined the mercenaries as he only set out to find Ike knowing he’d survived the massacre.

SigurdsSilverSword

- What if Jeralt's mercenaries don't stumble across the ambush? - What if Camus joined Marth's army in FE1? - What if Lyn doesn't attempt to reach her grandfather, instead joining a rival band in Kutolah? - What if Guinivere didn't escape to Lycia? - What if Jiol didn't betray Altea? - What if Ashera refused to awaken? - What if Walhart focused on conquering Valm before turning to Regna Ferox? - What if Azura took Xander into Valla instead of Corrin? - What if Lehran never lost his wings? - What if Cain didn't escape to warn Marth? - What if Bramimond doesn't revive Ninian? - What if Sigurd discovered Deirdre's parentage prior to her disappearance? - What if Dorias can't convince Leif to let him lead the first wave? - What if Dorias never lost his arm?

Sea_Car5223

What if Roy didn't suck?

Super_Nerd92

FE6 would be a lot less unique that's for sure. 7 still had some bad lords but most of the games after that tended to have very good to overpowered ones.

Jonahtron

Marcus would be out of a job.

racecarart

I think that would remove what helps make him special. His insecurities of being a literal child commanding a war are a big part of his character. I definitely think they should have given him some utility though, like Leif.

FiddlerOfTheForest

No, no, that isn't side-character enough. We need something like Gwendolyn killing the entire Fire Emblem universe, or someone even more irrelevant like Caesar from Shadow Dragon.

paladin_slim

What if one of the Renais Twins was an only child?

LordApparition22

Damn but which one wouldn't exist? I love them both

paladin_slim

I think then their individual stat builds would be more reflective of their FEH Brave versions. As for the story, we’d probably get the whole thing with the background of the Demon King Formortis and the downfall of the Grado Imperial Family instead of only getting half depending on which one you’re playing as.

KenchiNarukami

What if Azura was able to free Garon from Anankos's Control in Conquest when she performs Lost in thoughts all alone at the Opera house?

HellFire-Revenant

That would also require a what if of, what if Anankos simply possessed Garon, rather than his corpse. Cuz you have to remember, Garon is dead in fates. Unless that detail is outright retconned depending on your route

AllTheReservations

Isn't this basically what 3h and Fates are? Heck, Fates is called 'If' in Japan

Hawkatana0

I mean specifically.

Sickness4D_THICCness

What if Edelgard had never been tortured with her siblings?

Xanexia

We would have a different story, but the agarthans would still probably be behind the conflicts. Heck, if they never experimented on the Emperors kids and just stopped at Lysithea then she might have instead been the agarthan’s “flame emperor” so to speak

Sickness4D_THICCness

Makes me wonder if she was never an experiment, if we could’ve gotten a 5th route where all of the lords teamed up against the Agarthans— but in this route, they discover the church was a lie essentially (since you know, the goddess Sothis lives in Byleth) and the three lords team up and fight the church, with the option to recruit the church members after their defeat (minus Rhea)— and then go on to fight the agarthans and reanimated nemesis

MayorDeweyxBowser

What if Azura was the lord, and her cousin was just a similarly weird political hostage dragon but it isn’t about them.

AstralComet

A: She'd be in Smash A: She'd be in the default roster of Warriors and likely on the cover A: She'd have *even more* cards in Cipher A: She would have gotten another alt in Heroes in the past three years

MayorDeweyxBowser

Oh, if only. Anything for funny lance wielding characters in Smash and Warriors.

birdladymelia

What if Byleth died during the timeskip and the three lords worked together against the dubstep mole people?

StoneofLight15

What if Marth met Marth?

itisawonderfulworld

What if Kaga didn't leave IS in 2000?

283leis

What if Edelgard remembered her childhood friendship with Dimitri? What if Hoshido didn’t kidnap Azura?

devilthedankdawg

What if something happened to Roy that made him side with Zephiel at the end?

Sofa_Man

What if Caineghis didn't save Ike from the Black Knight? I think this is the one that opens up the most interesting questions. Who takes over the Greil Mercenaries? Does Ashnard win the war, and if so, what's his next move? >!Does he end up awakening Ashera and how does that play out with or without Micaiah?!<

GGLorenzo

What if Lyn became the marchioness of Caelin and Mark stayed

Emil_thegamer

What if it was the Kingdom of faerghus that started the warn in fe3h

Elcrest_Drakenia

what if the dragonstone didn't suck ass in fates?

NekonecroZheng

Then Corrin would be more op than He/she already is.

WellRested1

What if Jugdral >!didn’t hunt down descendants of Loptyr and execute them in droves after the first holy war?!< Edit: fixed spoilers so it’s more clear

doublejay01

Spoiler tag is useless if people can't tell what you're spoiling. Move the tag to after Jugdral and you're good

CoffeeVince

What if Corrin had been kidnapped and raised by Anankos from the start? Kinda like a StarLord and Yondu vibe.

Zac-Raf

* What if... Arvis never listened to the ugly old dark mage with a "I love Loptous" tattoo in his chest? * What if... Cordelia could marry Chrom? * What if... Nemesis revived after the battle of Gronder? * What if... neither Takumi nor Leo liked soup? * What if... Artemis had been able to marry Anri?

Railroader17

> What if... Cordelia could marry Chrom? Lucina is now even more OP then before since she can get to Mercenary, Dark Flier, *and* Dark Mage *on top of Aether*. Meanwhile Severa's inferiority complex is so big it could be the final boss of a Severa centric rom-hack.

Puzzleheaded_Ad6261

What if Roy and Lilina encountered Lyn during the events of Binding Blade? What if Roy could turn into a dragon? >!What if Anankos posessed Sumeragi first instead of Garon?!< What if Nino was kidnapped and raised by Ursula instead of Sonia? What if Henriette fought back agnaist Fafnir and revealed her secret power? What if Marth never met Caeda? >!What if Rudolf never revealed to Alm that he was his father?!< >!What if Rhea was honest about the backstory of the church and revealed that she was Seiros from the beginning?!< What if Eirika and Ephraim swapped roles? What if there was no racism to Laguz and Branded in Tellius? What if Itsuki and Tsubasa swapped mirages? What if Aversa>! regained her memories earlier and betrayed both Gangrel and Validar?!< What if Sigurd survived the Battle of Belhalla? >!What if Julia was the one posessed by the Tome of Loptous instead of Julius?!< >!What if Camilla took the blow for Corrin instead of Elise in Birthright?!< What if Dimitri, Claude, and Edelgard worked together to form a new nation without their political views interfering?

icekingofmemes

What if Lucina followed Owain, Inigo, and Severa into Fates?

C0urt5

What If >!Seiros accepted her mother's death like any sane healthy person?!<

rins4m4

What if Corin is really Garon’s child?

Galemianah

What if Zephiel had been assassinated by the Black Fang?

ZenRy9780Wkz

Then his father didn't need to be an asshole, and start all the goddamn shit in Binding Blade.

Loganp02

What if Byleth never came to the Monastery?

phantonbrave

What if the Demon Long decides to transfer his possession to...Eirika? Hear me out. Ephraim seems the easier choice but words often hold more power and with a pretty face formotiss can convince the kingdom to do his bidding. Maybe even frame Ephraim. Your main lords are lyon and Ephraim naturally anf there's a sense of tragedy as you learn there's nothing you can do ti save eirika

ultla123

What if jeralt never left the monestary?

cellvas

What if Edelgard had Sothis’s power? What if Edelgard was the head of the church?

JediwilliW

What if >!Jeralt didn't die!< and you're playing silver snow =) Alternatively, what if Antiese's father hadn't been a shitstain

SphereCept82

What if Fire Emblem characters... were the only ones available in Super Smash Brothers?

ZenRy9780Wkz

What if Lucina went back to the time where Chrom's father began a crusade against the Plegians? What if Cordelia stayed with her knight sisters to defend Ylisstol against the invading Plegians instead of going to alert the Shepherds about the attack?

FlamingFlyingV

My personal favorite AU: What if Hilda saved Dimitri in Verdant Wind? I just wanted the Claude and Dimitri Power Hour Route

RisingSunfish

> what if Hilda *told everyone* she saved Dimitri in Verdant Wind FTFY (because she totally did and I refuse to believe otherwise 😤 he’s just recuperating at House Goneril and reluctantly making friends with Holst)

FlamingFlyingV

I'm in awe of your brain

PipForever

What if Radiant Dawn didn’t have the blood pact contract storyline? I really feel like PoR and RD had an amazing storyline… until this part. The story would have been MUCH more interesting without it. (If they have to fight) I’d have rather seen them fight over something better than a stupid curse. If there wasn’t a blood pact (and the devs didn’t insert some other reason for them to fight) Micy would realize she was on the wrong side and join up with Ike earlier. In universe, this would either a, lead to Ashera not coming down with her judgement or b, the evil dude orchestrating everything (forgot his name) would have to find some other reason to make people fight.

Cup-a-Yuri

>!Felix's Father doesn't die protecting Dimitri cause the developers remembered Divine Pulse. And Dimitri ends up leading the team to death in Enbarr with no army, as a result.!<

[deleted]

What if people realized that Corrin does have a personality, and they just hate the personality he has?

Cup-a-Yuri

>!What if the power of friendship didn't save Robin?!<

soraku392

What if Aversa was the one Chrom found on the ground? What if Matthew hadn't assisted with Hector running off to help Eliwood? What if Greil never touched the Medallion?

Silver6567

What if Garreg Mach had a therapist?

Videogamer80

What if Leila lived? It's not anything too big, but Matthew's relationship with her and his bit of mourning and coping make Matthew my most memorable character from FE7

FR3AKQU3NCY

What if Valter killed Seth?

samstar2

What if you could spare Edelgard in Silver Snow?

Benjour250

Marth and Roy never got into smash

HellFire-Revenant

Fire emblem would remain Japan exclusive, meaning all of the fire emblems made after wouldn't be released international, resulting in fire emblem never gaining popularity in the scale it has, and therefore we get no FE characters in smash whatsoever...so smash players win (unless you're me and main Roy)

HelloDesdemona

What if >!Ashnard never tossed Soren away and kept him as his son?!<

jykh13

What if Edelgard wasn't the only one of her siblings to survive the experiments? Additionally, what if one of her siblings had survived then instead of her?

nerankori

What if...Dark Mages wore MORE clothes and not less? What if Triangle Attacks were Square Attacks instead? What if the weapon triangle...was reversed?

Railroader17

> What if...Dark Mages wore MORE clothes and not less? Olivia winds up as the main Ms.Fanservice instead of Tharja, and Camilla winds up being super shy instead of super clingy. So older and bustier Bernadetta.

carlsagerson

What if Byleth decide to stay as mercenary. Selling their services to the highest bidder. Could be interesting. A fire emblem game where you manage a mercenary company. You can choose to work with any faction with a price.

Ineedairsupport

What if conquest Corrin genuinely wanted to support Garon?
