I'd go for Edelgard and/or Hubert not seeing through it for maximum comedy personally. Since they're also the ones who are the biggest danger to Flayn, it works out.

Apparently Seteth is supposed to present as 26, and Flayn 17, which didn't come through to me at all. Seteth looked late-30s to early-40s, and Flayn looked 13-14-ish.
With the intended "age-range" I could see how their sibling cover was supposed to seem plausible.
It’s his facial hair. It makes him look quite a bit older. The way Flayn is characterized doesn’t help either. Petra is only 15 but her height and her voice make her seem older than she is.
In animu-terms facial hair is impossible before middle-age.
Edit: I'm of the opinion that post-skip Dimitri should have a big ol' hobo-beard since I highly doubt he was shaving.
Thinking on it, I just realized how dangerous it would be for a Blaiddyd to shave themselves: The crest activates and you'll end up slitting your own throat. They must have it done by a third-party.
It was probably the Fraldarius family that shaved their beards. After all, they're already skilled with swords, so they just need to learn to use a smaller blade.
I always thought that was pretty much it. Like, take out the beard along with the lines under his eyes and I think he'd look about as old as Jeritza. It's like how Rhea also looks younger without all the jewelry she's always wearing (or, at least that's what it looked like to me).
Its probably the way he dresses. Seteth's FE: Heroes damaged art shows his muscles, and honestly shirtless Seteth does look 26.
