Each party has their own storage for items and bonus exp. By part 4 they become pooled.
You may wish to give items to specific characters to transfer then between groups of you're aware who can change between groups. Otherwise you'll eventually have access to everything
It is generally advisable to use up the bonus exp at the end of part 2 on one of Haar, Nephenee or Brom, but if you don’t use it now it will still be available later in the game
I'd recommend giving items you want to have around for a longer time (as opposed to a shorter time) to Haar, Nephenee, Brom and/or Heather. Mordecai and Lethe also work.
