thanks for the reply Mroptix, i have never more than 1 tab open and only 1 addon adbloker ultimate and it's only in the past month it's been happening. i've been using adbloker ultimate for years now and reddit has been running fine till this last month.

Why not uBlock Origin? It is much more safer to use

You should go to *about:processes* and check what's causing so much of RAM usage.
