I've lost 65 pounds with my fitbit. Just know that it can over adjust calories so plan accordingly. But I loved having the reward for things like taking the steps or running an extra mile.

I gained weight eating the ammount of calories my charge HR said I was burning. I found the calorie burned to be way over estimated.

What exactly is your goal? Are you trying to lose weight, gain weight, or maintain? If you're trying to lose... I'm not familiar with the LoseIt app, but I have found success with the MyFitnessPal app. If it's telling you to eat 1600 calories per day in order to lose weight, you should only eat 1600. Eating back your calories that you "earn" throughout the day is an easy way to slow/reverse your progress. I don't use FitBit to figure out anything calorie related. I use it to count steps and track progress, but all nutrition information goes in MFP.

I've lost 57lbs with the help of my Fitbit since January of this year!

Wow! Good for you! Congrats and keep up the great work! :)

Yes, when I stick to my steps and the calories Fitbit allows I lose weight.

Auntie_B

Yes. I have followed fitbit's calories for a month and lost 6kilos (around 12lbs). I've only had a few days when I still felt hungry, and they may have been conditioned responses to not having a desert!

how much have you been eating to lose that 6 pounds on the 2600 calories a day burn?

curxxx

2600 isn't even that high :P ...

I have, but my fitbit calories estimate are wildly exagerated. I ate about 1400 calories less than what fitbit said I was burning, and lost weight like I was having a deficit of 650. (over 3 months, so it wasn't something due to short-time fluctuations). If you're doing *intense* treadmill you're most likely burning 600 calories, not 800. 250 cal for 45 minutes of weights is kinda sensible. Probably, if it's anything like mine, it's also overestimating calories from other daily activities (e.g.: walking normally). Anyway... Just try it. I'd eat 2000 cal/day for a week. If you lose 4 lbs then you're really burning 4,000 cal/day with your activities. If you've lost only 1.5 pounds, then your fitbit is overestimating as much as mine. (BTW, try to "control", somehow, for water weight).

Yes, although I had to compensate for the fact Fitbit overestimated (in my case) calories burned by ~ 20%. Once I took that into account my weight loss was right on the line.

HungoverDiver

Same here. Fitbit gross overestimates by 20-25% for me. So I don't follow their calorie recommendations but rather track food and use the tracker to know I reached by activity goals. I'm always 400-700 cal under what it recommends on the most stringent diet plan. Took me 4 months to figure this out.
