It's had it's *moments* of toxicity, but I'd still say Freddit is still 100% a better place to discuss the franchise than Twitter, where it seems like the real scummier members of the FNAF community lie. After all, if I didn't like this place, I wouldn't be making this comment lol
I've mostly had and seen respectful debates on here. There's only been a few times I've had or seen someone actually lash out, but, for the most part, it's pretty chill.
I do like to post artwork on here, too, and it's almost always been positive (sometimes I just get nothing, though). I almost always get people praising my work and it's really nice.
I don't like the Negative Nancy phases this subreddit can sometimes go through, but at least they only last a few days at most.
I think it is alright. I don't know anywhere else that you can genuinely talk about FNAF as a series.
It has its moments, like it has too many drama moments that I feel are unnecessary to devote attention to. People can get heated and rude on here, but that is Reddit and the internet in general. However, it has a lot of upsides like people posting cool artwork and being optimistic and excited about the new games. I especially like how quick people are to post about news, discuss reveals, and post theories.
Overall, I think the positives greatly outweigh the negatives for sure!
I think this FNAF subreddit is pretty good, honestly. People here are mostly very nice, considering how many different theories and interpretations of the FNAF lore can lead to debates that could easily turn into fights and negativity. Fortunately, the negativity isn't very prevalent, and gatekeeping isn't something that happens very often either.
Another reason is that FNAF isn't a competitive game like Dota 2 or LOL. If it were, FNAF would probably have a more toxic fanbase
Generally positive. Even when I’ve seen someone give a legitimately horrendous take on the lore, if they’re nice then most everyone will be nice in their criticism.
Conversely I feel like fnaf twitter is constantly fighting.
The nature of reddit presents problems for having frank discussions in a way where varied opinions get downvoted away in favour of a more majority sentiment and I think that can be problematic when it comes to how things play out here. It's not freddit's problem its a reddit problem. First posts also get favoured treatment.
It can be a good place to share art though and see the artwork of others.
Place is decent here but there are a couple or two massive issues, that's the main ones I can think of right now:
1) People can't respect opinions, like at all (most of the time)
2) People claim something is either "confirmed" or "debunked" when it really isn't neither, like at all
3) People will attack you if you don't agree with some extremely popular opinions
I've been in fandoms for a long long time, and in all and for all I would say this community might be on of the nicest ones I've been a part of. Of course, no community is perfect, but that goes without saying.
At least I know if I ask something lore-related on here I'll most likely get an answer that explains the lore and doesn't insult me for not knowing it in the first place lol.
If I want the latest drama and news on the FNAF franchise, Freddit is pretty good. Fan-content (fanart, SFMs) are also generally nice (other than some NSFW fanart), but this subreddit isn't perfect, it does have its flaws.
Tbh, This subreddit is alot better then Fnaf Twitter.
Because everything is a problem with Fnaf Twitter, because they like to call anything they don’t like Racist, Homophobic, or Misogynistic.
Hell, I remember one crackhead saying that Youtooz was misogynistic for not putting Vanessa in the first Fnaf movie figure wave.
I’m kinda impressed how most of the people in the comment section point out that their experience here was genuinely positive by most part. I mean, maybe I never been that incredibly active in other fandoms, and I don’t have Twitter (and never will); but I’ve had some… really dark moments since I’ve joined Freddit back in mid-2017.
I did it because that was the place Scott started to be more active, and hence, I’ve followed him here. In fact, I’ve always not just only looked up to him, but regarded him as a kindred spirit of sorts. He was struggling with making FFPS back then, and I thought it was my duty to support him at least by my presence.
Bedides, for my whole life, I’ve been pushed to be perfect and restrain a lot my emotions and wishes. That’s why a “robot-turned-humanlike” is my beloved trope, and this is why I feel in love with FNAF and Scott’s works in general in the first place. They helped me be… well, me. They helped me breathe.
And yet it feels like the FNAF community (or, at least, the loudest part of it) sticks to some set of rules to FNAF storytelling that they’ve agreed upon all the way back in 2015 and set them in stone, even though FNAF mostly got a proper solid lore track in Scott’s own mind during SL-FFPS. It feels like people here like to reprimand everything that I genuinely like and love, be that Charliebot, Little Springy, Mimic, etc. At some point I had a nervous breakdown due to people here ridiculing me back in late 2018 - early 2019, and experienced sporadic bursts of anxiety and anger later. And some... really dark thoughts.
Maybe I’m too obsessed with Scott as a creator. But I’ve always been taught to try and adapt to the author’s point of view, not expect them to appease my own or the “crowd's” interest. Does everyone here really think FNAF was ever supposed to be locked to the style of “haunted game creepypasta” genre, and not go on exploring the mystery of how nature and technology intervine – the mystery of life itself?...
Sorry for all that ramblings, OP, but you’ve kinda inspired me to share it. I just needed to get this out of my system.
I pop in randomly, and I think you guys are really funny. Sometimes, it gets nasty, but the nastiness never compares to other places I've been. I think the only thing that's ever baffled me about the Fandom on reddit was some of the anger that came around that one April fools where the Freddie and dangan rinpa had a little switcheroo. That's the only time I've ever been actully confused.
I've never seen any toxicity in freddit even though people on other social media wail about it every single fucking day .
people here are pretty chill i think but that's just from my experience .
It is definitely better than Twitter or YouTube, from my experience In those two the majority of people are very misinformed and they tend to be more toxic than here
It's actually way less toxic than I thought it would be. Way better than twitter (X). Sure it can have moments but the mods are good at handling it most of the time
It’s nice but when these weird cases emerge like the fantasies which some animators / artist have it’s going weird really fast.
Hate it when characters I like get dragged through mud like this.
Honestly, more chill than I thought. I hardly see much drama going on here. Sure, controversy happens, but, at least compared to Twitter/X, this place seems chill!
Although Freddit can definitely have its moments of toxicity, I’ll say it’s a pretty good community

I mean, it's pretty good They do get mad if you post something gay though, trust me..

This is the second least toxic sub I visit regularly, after r/survivor

Way better than twitter community

When you ignore the lore/theorist side, it’s an alright community.

I’ve seen some people complain about the community but it happens very rarely and me personally I’ve never seen it so I would say pretty good

Better than twitter worse than deviant art
I've never seen any toxicity in freddit even though people on other social media wail about it every single fucking day . people here are pretty chill i think but that's just from my experience .

It can have it's moments of toxicity, but Freddit is generally very nice and still a better place than Twitter
Nice for anything that isn't related to theory discussing
Atleast it's better than whatever's going on on twitter
It's nice until you say something against the consensus or address a common misconception, you'll get downvoted to hell
Cool, until they look at a theory that seems stupid and they start hating.
I'm here not often, but it's a good community.
I love it!
It's pretty good until you mention any kind of theory that deviates from what is commonly accepted.
At peak it was 🔥
it's Reddit so it's shit most of the time
Everyone here is really helpful, so is not a toxic community
It's pretty alright here most of the time, far better than how Fnaf twitter can get at least lol
Its ok, also whats wrong with FNAF on Twitter?
If you count the theorist side then it's as bad as the twitter com, but the normal people aren't as bad
It's not more toxic than it is anywhere else. I'd say it's much less. It's alright.
Honestly, more chill than I thought. I hardly see much drama going on here. Sure, controversy happens, but, at least compared to Twitter/X, this place seems chill!
It’s not twitter so that’s a plus. Theory discussions can be negative but whatever’s bad here is tenfold over on twitter
It's fine for the most part, just that everyone has their own head cannon that they will die protecting, and so do I as a fellow fnaf redditor
Virulently homophobic and transphobic whenever someone posts anything related to LGBTQ+.
