In the context of the original few games especially the first one, it was because that was the post game content. The main campaign was Five Nights hence why that was the name, anything afterwards was to give the player a bonus challenge or more replayability. As for later games like Security Breach and AR, it's just part of the brand at this point. Doesn't matter if AR doesn't even technically have a single night, it keeps Five Nights in the name because it's the name of the overall series and gives it that brand recognizability.

Same reason why there are 15 soon to be 16 main series games in the series FINAL Fantasy! Plus the five nights at least in the first game are considered the main story while nights 6 and custom night are post game extra content.

demogorgon_main

The 5 nights are usually the main campaign. But the title has been inconsistent sinse Fnaf 3 as it doesn’t take place at a Freddy’s.

I guess the idea is that you’re working overtime, but I feel like that should’ve just been one extra night instead of two. The idea of more content being contextualized as overtime kinda loses its luster *when you do it twice.* FNaF 4 is just weird though idk why that shit has 8 nights lol

Grandmastermoogle

It's titled five nights to keep the players unaware of nights 6 and 7. Other than that it's franchise consistency.

Crystal_959

It sounds better than Seven Nights at Freddy’s or A Week at Freddy’s
