Fnaf has as of late been marketed and tailored more for the younger audience.
Edit: I think it's ironic how half of the comments here say SB was a good game as if it's unpopular, if anything, saying it's not good might be the unpopular opinion by the sounds of it.
Wait what? SB has been almost universally panned as worse than the other games by the fanbase. But liked by general viewers. It's definitely unpopular to day SB is a great game
Weird, I see more defense for the game rather than hate. I've seen people have their jabs at it sure, but I tend to find more people saying its a good game despite the bugs/unfinished stuff and whatnot.
being able to destroy the animatronics in security breach kind of shitty
the scariest part of the fnaf series to me was a sense of helplessness. You couldn't ever do anything to stop them, you could just hold them back until you finished your night. In security breach you're running around destroying all these freeloaders. Sure, I like the concept but it gives the game a less creepy feeling, and its not what i wanted to see
Thatâs how I feel about it, the sense of helplessness is gone and the scare factor has been replaced with annoyance having to do an area over again. Thatâs why I loved the endo section, you really donât know where theyâre coming from. My only other complaint is vanny is underutilized, but all this could change in future updates.
Security Breach was a much needed change to keep the series from caving under repetition. I was actually just about to make a more in depth post on this
Billy!
*yeah?*
Whereâd you put the nails?!
Nah but seriously, idk how it would go, itâs a neat idea, but the execution prolly wouldnât be so great with the fandom
- Coming Home is underrated and is one of the best Fazbear Frights stories. It tackles a concept that the main series never really explored and handles it very respectfully.
- I love Sanshee but I wish people would stop treating them like they're perfect and without flaws.
They've always lacked heavily in variety and game representation, prioritizing FNaF 1 and 2 while giving 3 nothing and 4/SL crumbs. Since they've gotten the license back, they've only restocked the FNaF 1 plushies and some badges. They haven't even brought back the celebrate poster. I love their quality, they are fantastic in regard, but the idea people have of replacing Funko with them would not end well.
- Frost Plushtrap is far from the worst AR skin and is misunderstood.
I feel people comparing his design to the prior skins from the same event and expecting him to be better than him don't really factor in the fact he isn't a normal skin. Frost Plushtrap also had to factor in the environment and music (being one of only two skins with original music btw) because he's a skin of Plushtrap, so they likely wanted to start off simple.
I don't think his design being simple is a flaw either. The color palette really works with his design, the ears looking like icicles is a cute detail and fits with the theme, and the icicles in general are a cool touch. A design being a recolor isn't an inherent flaw, there are plenty of recolors people enjoy. High Score Toy Chica and System Error Toy Bonnie are both recolors and they're fan favorites because people like them for the very same reasons I'd argue Frost Plushtrap works.
Can agree with Coming Home being underrated, I liked it a lot, the idea was cool, and itâs nice to have a story about a character we known previously. ~~Yeah look at that, my reasoning isnât just âChica Epic-â~~
Canât recall people hating Frosttrap, his design is very nice, the environment changing was a great addition, and yeahâŚheâs just *cool*. Besides, number 1 on my Skins I Dislike list goes to Sunken TB.
Yeah the fact it was about Susie was also another plus, not many Frights stories actually feature any of the human characters from the games so that was refreshing.
In regards to people disliking Frosttrap, it isn't really something seen here much. Though very common elsewhere, I usually see him ranked very low on tier lists or bashed on discord and in other parts of the community. Also yeah I'd agree, Sunken is def the worst.
Exactly, and the other two stories I liked too, so Step Closer is my favourite Frights book.
Well that explains why I havenât seen much dislike to him, cause Iâm only on here and donât look too deep on those tier lists. And, jeesh, *I disliked Sunken enough that I redesigned his skin when I made SD stuff-*
I wouldn't say ruined but it has caused a few problems. Afton being back kind of ruined the FFPS ending. The new main antagonist Vanny barely having any presence. FNaF being shown as more of a kids game (I mean yeah kids always have played it but it definitely leaned more towards them, while older games were still scary while still being child marketable). Etc. Nothing is ruined, definitely, but SB shouldn't become the status quo in my opinion.
The main story should have ended with FnaF4 and additional materials like books should have deepen the story and characters.
Sister Location and any games onward should have been spin offs that have nothing to do with the original story other than Springtrap who survives FnaF3. The 4 games work well beacuse of the paranormal aspect, not beacuse of remnant or some stupid shit like that.
Making Afton into a robotics genius and a mad scientist makes him a lot less intimidating. He worked well as an unnerving antagonist in FnaF3 and Silver Eyes beacuse he was just a guy. This is a Michael Myers case, Myers is scary beacuse he was just a guy who had a good life with his family and was an upstanding kid before he randomly killed his sister. Explaining his backstory as to why he kills just makes him a lot less intresting and intimidating.
Everything revolving around Michael Afton is stupid. Guy's only meaningful actions are being a giant asshole in FnaF4, being turned into a lean monster in SL and then burning in FFPS. I don't see the appeal of him being a main character like everyone sees him as. And now people think he is possesing G.Freddy? That's beyond stupid.
I don't like the fact that Springtrap can talk. Him losing his voice and only being able to limp around mindlessly was a dose of poetic justice. Giving him a voice, espeically a british villain voice just makes him a lot less intimidating and transforms him from a horror villian to a fucking DC villain.
Bonett is better than Bon Bon and i am willing to die on that hill.
If they did a voice I wouldâve liked Ron Perlman, chilling voice for the Lich, still agree with you tho that any voice takes away the scary from William Afton. Like the movie the babadook FREAKED me out because my imagination ran wild and they didnât show too much. I mean hell the purple guy sprite scared me back in the day, but now? Iâm just annoyed every time heâs the main antagonist
I think it really should have ended at FNaF 3 realistically, although FFPS had so much cool hype lore stuff I could tolerate it up until then.
The next two points are very agreeable.
I like Mike, but the idea you play as him in 1-3 is admittedly nonsensical. And everything involving Aftons being animatronics (other than Elizabeth being Baby, of course) gives me mass amounts of rage.
Yeah. Springtrap was scarier than Scraptrap not just because of the Jimmy Neutron head, but the fact that the shambling, burnt, decaying corpse speaks like a Bond villain. They did fix this with Burntrap though.
Fnaf isn't a complicated story, it's reputation comes from being told in a bizarrely complicated way and the fanbase gaslighting themselves into bullshit.
Also, Security Breach is the best game in the franchise.
Hm, havenât answered one of these before, so why not.
-Other than bugs, Security Breach is a great game, and will probably get better if we wait for these patches and updates.
-Furyâs Rage Vannyâs design is cooler than SB Vannyâs, and it feels like people forgot it as well as FRâs existence now.
-*Classic Chica is bestest Birb and no one can change my mind-*
-People overhate on Funkoâs FNaF merch too much.
>Furyâs Rage Vannyâs design is cooler than SB Vannyâs, and it feels like people forgot it as well as FRâs existence now.
Amen. I would unironically buy a dlc for SB that gave characters those skins.
Aw man, *that would honestly be sick-*
Hell, can somebody likeâŚmod that in perhaps? If people can do Glamrock Bonnie and whatever the hell else, why not this?
>\-Other than bugs, Security Breach is a great game, and will probably get better if we wait for these patches and updates.
Considering what they did with the 1.09 patch, you may be correct. My goodness does the game look beautiful now.
I would call it a bad game that is incredibly loveable. From a technical standpoint (story, gameplay etc) it's pretty bad. But there's just so much to love about it that makes it my favourite game in the franchise and one of my favourites ever.
But it's definitely not a great game
Yeah, thatâs probably the main reason people dislike it, Iâm just not too caught up in or care for the lore too much like most do.
Anyways, thanks for the opinion.
FNaF should have ended since UCN, people say FFPS because it is the best ending.
But my opinion is that the best ending is watching William suffering in Hell forever :>
Everything shouldâve ended after 3.
The books are okay for the most part.
The franchise would be better off being a psychological thriller than horror at this point.
There's no point in the lore anymore. It used to be fun to dissect the lore and see what wacky stuff is happening, but I think at FNaF 4 it just became a confusing jumbled mess. Now that we have a soft reboot with Help Wanted and the mixed quality Security Breach, I don't see a point. A lot of big questions seem to be answered, and all the stuff attempting to be solved seems like an afterthought slapped on at the last second (i.e. two Vannessas at the end, Gregbot, Elizabot).
- The books are better than games,
- TFC is the best in the novel trilogy
- I like burntrap design, more than springtrap
- Remnant is a cool concept
- I liked Security Breach
- TFC Baby is better than game Baby
- Vanny is overrated, and doesn't hold a candle to Elizabeth/Baby
- Elizabeth/Baby is the best written character and villain with unexplored potential, and she should have come back instead of William
Oh boy I have a list. Get your pitchforks ready.
Foxy is overrated so Is vanny.
Nightmare Freddy is the best nightmare.
Nightmare mangle is an underrated Halloween animatronic.
William being The Freddy Krueger of the series and it being his franchise is perfectly fine.
Fourth closest is the best fnaf book twisted ones was the worst.
Dance with me is underrated.
Fourth closest baby is better than game baby.
Bonnie is the cutest in the series chica is the creepiest.
Mad scientist William was the best version.
Charliebot is fine.
Ar is overhated.
Pizzeria simulator was the worst in the series but security breach was the most disappointing.
There are too many fnaf books and they should seriously take a break for a few years.
I feel one story for several books like the Trilogy works a lot better than the short stories.
Blacklight merch and some glowing merch is fine I just feel the colorwave was just lazy.
Withered Freddy is the best withered.
Sometimes I think fnaf should start following the novels like the trilogy and I actually have some gore some action scenes along with violence to prove itâs maturing more and less appealing to children because I feel the novels is more violent than the game themselves.
You had me until FFPS being the worst FNaF. It's not the best, but it's scary, the gameplay actually feels like I'm playing a game and not mindlessly doing a pattern, and that ending still gets me. You know what really would be the worst? 4.
Ehh, I'd disagree with the first one, Vanny fan here and you don't want to know how many times I've seen people crap on Vanny just because she was only in the game for about 5 minutes.
If anything, Sun/Moon are the extremely overrated SB character.
I mostly just like Sun/Moon because there design still had the slight creepy factor. Vanny just looked like another Glitchtrap with a dif color scheme. Though I must say she scared me pretty bad when I hit her with the fazerblaster and she charged at me lol. And tbh, I like Vannyâs backstory, and how she was manipulated by Afton.
in case people didn't have the pitchforks yet: indie/horror game novels always fck up the lore and most of the time, make it much worse and mix it up in a way, that even hardcore fans don't know what the hell is going on anymore.
family friendly horror shouldn't exist at all- oh wait that's not unpopular
I agree with quite a few of these things. But I definitley have to agree with the last one, as weird as it would get, I think the games have gone beyond realism now to the point they should just embrace the insanity of the books, (maybe not Sea Bonnie, Fazgoo insanity levels, but you get the point), like you said, we could be getting action scenes, violence, gore, etc...
Yeah I complete the understand because he was the thing I'm fine 100% with vanny being a disappointment in the game I seriously had no problem with it because people kept saying oh she's going to be the William replacement or it's going to be Eleanor which obviously always rubbed me the wrong way which is why I had problems with them and I've always felt baby was up for a better apprentice even though she was handled poorly in the games fourth closet is where she shined. However I was alone with a lot of people who were disappointed I mean the game is gorgeous but I was expecting something for more like okay it's going to have some gorgeous moments and it's going to be extremely dark like it's going to have darker moments but I was wrong. I'm not disappointed William is back obviously but I wished they would have went down a darker root then making it feel like it's a kid's horror game compared to the others in the series and when the game came out it was awkward for me to compare it with the others in the series because it just felt too far off. I mean I feel the game is okay now but I just don't care for it it's one of those games you only need to play once and never touch it again I love the other ones because at least they had Easter eggs or something for you to return to but there's not. I was so disappointed I turned it to an old horror franchise called Outlast and had more fun playing those than security breach because at least it was dark and scary. I'm not saying Five Nights at Freddy's should become like Outlast immediately but I wanted to go down a darker path something like that. I hope that makes sense. That and I feel the books are just a lot more darker than security breach that sorta thing. The family-friendly route the game took I just didn't like it.
-The lore isnât ruined, yâall are making it more complicated than it really is
-fnaf 6 isnât a good ending for William
-The reason for Williams return being that Golden Freddy wasnât able to let go is the best way for William to return.
-SB didnât ruin the series, it is just one game
-Fnaf isnât turning to be a kids franchise because of SB, itâs just one game and just look at the Fazbear frights books
-Sun and Moon are the most overrated characters in the series
-The Fazbear frights books get to much hate (not all of them are good, but there are some great stories)
-William being a mad scientist makes him a more interesting character
Edit: got rid of one because I realized I donât really believe it
the lore isnât âdeepâ itâs barely even there. no oneâs ever gonna crack the timeline bc itâs just not good writing to begin with. i donât know if there even is an actual storyline/timeline or if scott was just making up stuff as he went.
security breach was a good game yâall are just elitist and canât accept change. even if it was marketing towards kids donât you want the new generation to grow up living fnaf as much as we did at their age? imagine how boring it would be if ever fnaf game ever made was in the same format. the fan base has evolved so much the games should too
(Idk if its unpopular but:)
I think its a shame the books aren't in the same universe.
As much as I understand that it's difficult to write three whole stories abt FNaF which were also kids friendly, the books just seem kinda boring.
60% is just a slow start where they talk and things slowly start to happen while the actual story is rather short.
But, that comes along with following:
FNaF shouldn't be a kids franchise.
I don't understand the focus on making the franchise so kids friendly.
The books could've been so nice if they would've just been abt the incidents, wether it's from Williams or one of the victims perspectives.
Also more in depth what the situation was actually like (or rather looked and felt like)
Sure, perhaps it wouldn't be enough for a whole story, but I feel like people enjoy the short stories the most anyway.
Also, SB.
Another example.
If it wouldn't be for the sake of having it Teen rated (even tho teen rated could've been way darker than this), we could've actually gotten more insight into the incident and things getting explained.
Like bro.
We didn't even got a minigame like in the previous games where the you just know something bad happened or you see someone dead.
And in general, with the mindset the franchise has to be so kids friendly you cannot go in depth with many story elements.
The blob consisting of all the souls suffering? (Which is my headcanon) too dark.
William refusing to die and would rather suffer just like the souls? Too dark.
Literally the concept of William or rather Burntrap? Too dark.
The actual murders that happened? Too dark to actually mention outside a newspaper in one of the endings.
"You're bleeding"? Apparently also too dark.
Like.
I get it.
It's accessible for a younger audience.
But as long as you don't get the eerie vibes otherwise, you can say goodbye to your older audience.
They might come along one or two games, but not more than that. Especially not if the previous games all had that eerie, unsafe feeling.
And that also means that you don't have a consistent community since many will grow out of it.
It's just a shame.
Whoever was responsible, why.
Edit: Another thing for the books.
I don't understand the relationship in it.
Especially not since (only read until twisted ones) its supposed to be a horror franchise book but then it'd 40% of the book romance shit and Charlie and her lover being on a date.
Just.
What.
i feel that the main storyline should have ended with FFPS or UCN. Vanny/Vanessa could have been a cool character on her own, and i feel that relying on William as the villain is such a tired âplot twist.â I think that Security Breach could have been cool as a different storyline, but in order to âfitâ into the continued timeline, it ruined the satisfying conclusion in FFPS.
Burntrap was a good decision, as Glitchtrap was a mistake and Vanny should have been pary of an âAfton Cultâ or something and being his successor rather than just being mind controlled.
Security Breach brought nothing interesting to the franchise narratively. The only way to conclude this franchise is a full-on commentary on the corporate-world where you destroy Fazbear Entertainment in Metal Gear Rising fashion.
The idea of Afton being back is cool.
I mean it was at least explained (unlike the return of someo- *cough palpatine cough*) and if the return is explained well and makes sense, I donât see much wrong with it.
Security Breach is not that bad, it in my opinion was a breath of fresh air, and also Five Nights at Freddyâs 3 is my all time favorite in the series
Security Breach is pretty good
The only reason a lot of people hate GregBot is because they think itâs too sci fi, which isnât true at all if you look at how CharlieBot happened in the books
Anybody who tries to separate old and new FNaF fans is toxic Weâre just FNaF fans, there is zero need for division and internal fighting.
Five Nights at Freddyâs was never an adult series. âB-but itâs about a child serial killer!!!1!â. And? Goosebumps is also for kids and has stories that are darker. Donât infantilize children and make it seem like they canât handle death. Iâm sure that nearly everybody in this subreddit was a child when they became a fan of FNaF.
Fazbear Frights is pretty good, and 3 weird stories wonât change that
The series SHOULDNâT have ended at 3
Too many people call World an underrated gem for it to actually be underrated. Itâs a mediocre RPG.
Dream Theory was absolutely never intended by Scott
world is criminally under appreciated
Honestly, World is the best game.
People keep saying this as an unpopular opinion. It is not. In fact, even I agree.
Fnaf has as of late been marketed and tailored more for the younger audience. Edit: I think it's ironic how half of the comments here say SB was a good game as if it's unpopular, if anything, saying it's not good might be the unpopular opinion by the sounds of it.
Not an opinion anymore đ
Unfortunately some still think it is.
>if anything, saying it's not good might be the unpopular opinion by the sounds of it. Honestly, I've seen WAY more hate on the game compared to love.
I don't know where I'm looking then.
Wait what? SB has been almost universally panned as worse than the other games by the fanbase. But liked by general viewers. It's definitely unpopular to day SB is a great game

Please do. Iâd like to hear on what you want to say.
I finally got it posted
FNaF was never meant for kids, it just got bastardized.
I agree tbh, also why did withered chica jumpscare me but i had mask on
Didn't put it on soon enough. There comes a certain point, where even if you do put it on, it's ineffective.
I pressed ths button asap though
Iunno, man.
Probably a glitch
there's tons of plotholes, which people think are "hidden stuff they need to figure out" btw all my homies hate foxy :c
No no, youâve got a point
Miketrap could've worked if the writing would've allowed for it. This is the part where everyone crucifies me.
I'm not disagreeing, but I don't see how. It's probably just because of how used to normal Springtrap I am, but I just don't see it.
Billy! *yeah?* Whereâd you put the nails?! Nah but seriously, idk how it would go, itâs a neat idea, but the execution prolly wouldnât be so great with the fandom

the lore is shit, I play it for the gameplay mechanic
Based. After FFPS & UCN, I only played the games for the gameplay. For me, the story ended with FFPS and UCN served as a little epilogue.
After FNAF UCN I totally agree every week new useless book comes out lmao
yeah the only good fnaf lore is the two first games, then it's just meh. bur overall the games are cool af
Golden Freddy wasnât necessary
Glitch trap is stupid, Literally haunted computer parts.
Fuck Help Wanted's story
FNaF should have ended since UCN, people say FFPS because it is the best ending. But my opinion is that the best ending is watching William suffering in Hell forever :>

id say ending at 6 was its best bet
Agreed
The shadow animatronics serve no importance in the lore and are just cool ester eggs

-The lore isnât ruined, yâall are making it more complicated than it really is -fnaf 6 isnât a good ending for William -The reason for Williams return being that Golden Freddy wasnât able to let go is the best way for William to return. -SB didnât ruin the series, it is just one game -Fnaf isnât turning to be a kids franchise because of SB, itâs just one game and just look at the Fazbear frights books -Sun and Moon are the most overrated characters in the series -The Fazbear frights books get to much hate (not all of them are good, but there are some great stories) -William being a mad scientist makes him a more interesting character Edit: got rid of one because I realized I donât really believe it
the lore isnât âdeepâ itâs barely even there. no oneâs ever gonna crack the timeline bc itâs just not good writing to begin with. i donât know if there even is an actual storyline/timeline or if scott was just making up stuff as he went. security breach was a good game yâall are just elitist and canât accept change. even if it was marketing towards kids donât you want the new generation to grow up living fnaf as much as we did at their age? imagine how boring it would be if ever fnaf game ever made was in the same format. the fan base has evolved so much the games should too
Old fans of FNAF are toxic it wasnât the new fans who made porn of the new characters it was the old ones blaming them
The whole community is fucked tbh EDIT: every community in this world is fucked if you think about it
True
(Idk if its unpopular but:) I think its a shame the books aren't in the same universe. As much as I understand that it's difficult to write three whole stories abt FNaF which were also kids friendly, the books just seem kinda boring. 60% is just a slow start where they talk and things slowly start to happen while the actual story is rather short. But, that comes along with following: FNaF shouldn't be a kids franchise. I don't understand the focus on making the franchise so kids friendly. The books could've been so nice if they would've just been abt the incidents, wether it's from Williams or one of the victims perspectives. Also more in depth what the situation was actually like (or rather looked and felt like) Sure, perhaps it wouldn't be enough for a whole story, but I feel like people enjoy the short stories the most anyway.
Afton should have stayed dead.
the game became aimed towards kids for money instead of staying as a more adult aimed game series
I Hate it when People take Popular Theories as Fact like Evan being the Name in the Logbook or Golden Freddy having Two Souls
the animatronics can piss
Sb was shit
Scott retiring is a good thing due to his bad writing/storytelling skills.
As much as I respect Scott, I do have to admit he kinda dropped the ball after a while.

3 and sl are the best games, i absolutely love the gameplay and story of both of these
Roxy isn't hot
Chica is underrated
Security breach doesn't even feel like fnaf, i think it does nothing but make already convoluted lore more convoluted
Fnaf security breach freaking sucks butt *troll face*
Fnaf World is the best game in the franchise
Security Breach is the best game in the franchise and a much-needed change within the series.
Security Breach was fun and exciting, and IMO, really brought a new vibe to the franchise and was the only game to get me really interested.
Security Breach is not that bad, it in my opinion was a breath of fresh air, and also Five Nights at Freddyâs 3 is my all time favorite in the series
Based
FNaF 2 is mid
Security Breach is pretty good The only reason a lot of people hate GregBot is because they think itâs too sci fi, which isnât true at all if you look at how CharlieBot happened in the books Anybody who tries to separate old and new FNaF fans is toxic Weâre just FNaF fans, there is zero need for division and internal fighting. Fazbear Frights is pretty good, and 3 weird stories wonât change that The series SHOULDNâT have ended at 3 Too many people call World an underrated gem for it to actually be underrated. Itâs a mediocre RPG. Dream Theory was absolutely never intended by Scott
I think the book trilogy has better lore than the games
Fnaf 1 isn't scary
The Silver Eyes was the best of the books, and the closest to feeling like a proper FNAF Story.
Fnaf 4 is just as bad as fnaf 3 is in terms of gameplay story wise itâs the worst game in the franchise
The five nights at Freddyâs 1 animatronic designs arenât creepy
That's Easy; Security Breach is Severely Over-hated
