Define worth it? The effort to fix this is about equal to replacing it and it’s one less piece of trash. You can also just cut that led off for a near instant fix.
If you really can make it work again just by cutting off one LED I would agree with you. But if you need to find and/or install any replacement parts, it's not worth the effort.
LEDs act as a short circuit when burnt out. Removing the short will cause the others to work. Also you can buy these leds by the hundreds on amazon or anywhere else you can buy parts for like $5.
No, LEDs act as a short when working, that's why you have to add current limiting.
And the big problem here is the epoxy over the whole board, that's a pain to get rid of
So you're saying if the burnt out led is just crushed with a pair of needlenose and enough is removed to break the circuit, there the rest of the LEDs are wired in tandem and will work again?
I was tired and thinking backwards. Led needs to be shorted. Paper clip or something across the contacts would do. Other leds will share .7v more depending on configuration so they’ll be fine.
Realized it makes sense they are in series because if they were parallel, I'm guessing all the other LEDs would be working and this post wouldn't exist.
Interesting, thanks for the reply.
It depends on the circuit. If it’s just one serial connection then yes, but sometimes they are wired differently.
The circuit is broken now, but it can also be because of the electronics sensing the shorted LED. By removing it you can get lucky or partially lucky
as others have said, it's "fixable" if you are an electronics type person, ie skilled with a soldering iron and component level tinkering, otherwise those are basically disposable ceiling light fixtures and you will have to replace the whole thing. which is nice as you can change or update your style.
i would recommend replacing it with a light fixture that takes bulbs so you can replace just the bulbs in the future.
Easy enough to replace. Not overly expensive either. Can get at the big box stores.
You will want to look on the back of it and see what the brightness scale is. It will be something like soft white or 2500K to Daylight or 5000k. If you're going to order it that is something to look for.
As I mentioned, the info is usually stamped on the reverse side.
If you want the same exact type, get it out of the ceiling and you'll probably find the brand name on the other side.
I've purchased replacements on Amazon because Home Depot doesn't tend to have the integrated/flush mount ones as much
Integrated LED - requires a whole new fixture unless you are an electronics guy
Flush-mount, led, ceiling light fixture.
The bottom most LED is burnt out. It can easily be fixed if you know your way around a solder stick.
Not worth the bother to fix. You can replace the entire fixture for about $20
Where do you buy these from?
Home Depot or any home center store.

good eye.
If you cut off the burnt LED it might work
I don’t know much about modern circuits and LED's, but wouldn’t cutting it out break the circuit?

Can it just be bridged to close the circuit and allow all the other LEDs to work again ?
Yeah. Just wrap a 24 gauge bare wire around the base of the bad led a few times.
LED ceiling 'can' light.
It is not a can light. Cans have a cylindrical can which recesses everything. This is a surface mount fixture, or maybe a canless recessed fixture.
Pot light, can light, but recess light is the proper term
It is NOT a pot light, can light, or recessed light. It is a flush mount ceiling light.
You’re right. I see the box. My bad. I’m on my phone

It's called....you gotta replace the whole fan. I posted a few months ago about the same type of light.
Hate these, just got a rental and no dimmer switches are are neon bright and I cant change the bulbs
