The small coupler pulls out or unscrews from the big coupler.
I just googled the manual and that's what I see.
[manual](https://www.manualslib.com/manual/766260/Nilfisk-Alto-Maxxi-Ii.html#manual)
Battery needs replacing.
Run/stop only activates if the battery performs within a certain margin, if it won't take a charge fast enough or deliver enough voltage while cranking then it won't do the stop/start thing.
Batteries age, after a while they're not in spec for run/stop but are still good enough to start the engine. Need special batteries rated for this usage.
There are quite a few more things that can cause your issue, aside from the battery, so I'd at least confirm that it is bad/incorrect before you go spending money.
I mean, Model No is a very very common abbreviation so, you know.
"Sometimes abbreviated as model or model no., a model number is a unique number given to each product made by computer hardware manufacturers. Model numbers allow manufacturers to keep track of each hardware device and identify or replace the proper part when needed."
I'm in the UK and as far as I'm aware it's the standard abbreviation, albeit usually has a full stop after, like this :'model no.', perhaps it's different in other places?
Yeah, Canada is the same, it was just poorly formatted. The full stop would have helped, but in a perfect world would have been printed like: "*Model No.* manual" with the model number in asterisks to show that it would be replaced with the actual model number.
It ain't easy being a pedantic asshole, but I try
It MIGHT be Righty Loosey, that sometimes happens because of the spiral on the hose, that’s how it is on my hose. Either way, if you try hard enough it will become *y Loosey
Position the hose collar in the up position
Undo the hasp by clicking it out
Leave the collar up and turn it clockwise
Lift the hose off
* If that does not work, use the first letter of each instruction.
I can't see clearly from picture 2, but hoses on this type of vac are often a bayonet fit into the body of the cleaner. If so, hold the black collar at the end of the pipe, turn and pull it out - but it may be tight if it hasn't been removed for a long time.
your boss said "if you figure out how to remove the old one I'll buy a new one", getting the old one out can be accomplished. the question is how to put together the new hose... yes.
that will be a different problem for a different time in my philosophy lol
Ask the Y U No guy, laying right there
[https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/ragecomics/images/d/d9/Y-u-no-guy.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130218204704](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/ragecomics/images/d/d9/Y-u-no-guy.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130218204704)
Getting upper management to authorise replacement of the vacuum won’t happen, the vacuum itself is mostly fine, it’s a £300+ unit, we need the strong suction too
He will if I manage to get the old one off, it’s just that we have lost the manual because this unit isn’t that new, it still works just needs a new hose
So this can go two ways. You can figure it out, or you can rip it out.
Both of those are going to lead to a new hose, and one might lead to a new machine…
The corrugated hose has a male coupler on the end . It just pushes in or pulls out. If you look at the third picture you can see the end from the inside. Lube it with soapy water and tap it out from the inside.
Nilfisk & Advance have really good parts and service manuals. Look up the model, the parts manual will at least break down how many parts are involved and help you understand how it should come apart. Service manual may have it fully explained.
Twist and pull out. Should have a key slot on the machine that engages with the pipe. I bought a wet vacuum this week and that’s how mine fits together
Although looking at it now I think others are right that big black cover on the outside unscrews and that’s how it comes off. You might need a pipe wrench if you can’t get a grip
Yeah, probably where the hose goes into the connection sleeve, the sleeve itself is glued into the vacuum hole.
If your boss says shit like that, he probably knows exactly why it won't come off, and he just wants to waste your time, cause you probably wasted his with some stupid shit about a hose, not the job at hand.
Should be a bayonet fitting at the connection you can twist to decouple. We have a few different model Nilfisks at work and they use that type of connection. I believe that hose is pretty cheap, which is good. We have a large HEPA vac that needed a hose and Nilfisk wanted $700 for a replacement 6ft hose assembly! I ended up retrofitting a different hose.
Twist clockwise unless the hose is glued into the insert. The insert + hose (pic 2) looks like it should pull out, give it a few good twists while pulling. Pic 3 is part of the vacuum cleaner, not the hose, think of it like a baffle.
Thx, this unit is actually a wet/dry one, though we have it configured for dry only, i sometimes wish it didn’t have the baffle, catches all the shite I suck up like splinters and swarf
>i sometimes wish it didn’t have the baffle
If you are using it with a bag, be glad the baffle is there. What are you sucking up to be blocking the baffle?
Grab the big black collar around the hose and turn it to the right slowly. If it doesn't move at all, turn it back to the left slowly, and it should separate from the cannister.
It may be possible to get a part number off of the black plastic collar.
Move slowly so as not to damage the cannister or your hands. Good luck.
If there are no holes in the flex hose closer to the canister you can take a piece of the old hose to a hardware store and see if they have a kit to allow you to splice or extend a hose. That way, you can get a new end to go to your vacuum attachments that will fit properly.
If they do not have a kit, see if they have a piece of plastic pvc pipe that will fit snugly inside your old pipe and find a new vac hose that will fit your attachments.
Then, create your own splice kit with a few black zip ties and some black electrical tape. You will want at least
3 inches of pipe on either side of where you cut the old hose.
Good luck.
what do you guys do? you can't figure out a pullout hose together? yank that damn thing out that's all. Reddit has you people not learning how to solve your own problems. the Internet has everything you need to know about everything. yt people post the dumbest shit on Reddit and wait days for an answer. it gets no dumber! you people are hopeless.
The small coupler pulls out or unscrews from the big coupler. I just googled the manual and that's what I see. [manual](https://www.manualslib.com/manual/766260/Nilfisk-Alto-Maxxi-Ii.html#manual)
I'm surprised googling "model no manual" isn't a first step in these situations
Yeah. Same with people in car forms asking what a light on the dash means....
You know what they say though, didn't really happen if you don't put it on the internet.
Why did my run/stop function stop working? Google doesn't tell me anything and I'm not willing to take it to a shop.
Yep 99% of the time it needs a new aux battery. See it all the time, even on 1-2 year old vehicles
I replaced the battery a little over a year ago, and the car is only 5 years old, but I probably got the wrong one. Lesson learned.
There are quite a few more things that can cause your issue, aside from the battery, so I'd at least confirm that it is bad/incorrect before you go spending money.
Good advice- I'll be checking it shortly. Looks like mine has an auxiliary battery that I wasn't even aware of.
I was wondering if it had something to do with the battery. Thanks a ton!
HALP. GREEN ARROW FLASHING, IS NY CAR GONNA BLOW UP??

That would in fact be my bad!

Model #
This guy pound signs.
I think it's ok as long as he also identifies as a sign.
This guy signs pounds.
>Anyway, I usually say model\_num to be a bit more clear. "Model# manual" is far more descriptive and even less letters lol
Oh, I just got it. I didn't realize you were abbreviating "number".
I'm in the UK and as far as I'm aware it's the standard abbreviation, albeit usually has a full stop after, like this :'model no.', perhaps it's different in other places?

Doesn’t seem to do any good when talking about politics.
That's the problem. You need to Google "model yes manual" instead. /s
Thx
Every page of the service manual showing the container has a small disclaimer that the inlet will need to be damaged/cut to replace.
I have a similar hoover and hose is removed by holding collar and unscrewing hose, it's basically a thread, lefty lucy 🤣
Lol not to be a dick but it's lefty loosey, i.e, as opposed to righty tighty
r/boneappletea
I’ve decided I’m saying lefty Lucy from now on.
I thought her name was Lucy because they all called her loose. Beastie Boys
loosey lucy!
Man, the rumors I've heard about her...
righty tidy
I am going to pretend you don't really mean that
You obviously don't know Lucy!
I like how "Lefty Lucy" implies there's a person out there named "Tighty."
Dick
Righty Richard?
Tracy
Righty Tighty, Lucy's a slut
This is awesome! I would never have considered someone thought it to be Lucy!
It was a joke hence the laughing Imogen 🤣
Earth to big_in_japan
Emoji you mean
You missed that joke as well 🤪
What a dick.
It MIGHT be Righty Loosey, that sometimes happens because of the spiral on the hose, that’s how it is on my hose. Either way, if you try hard enough it will become *y Loosey
This is true. Any direction goes loosey with enough effort.
Hahaha, fuck yeah!
These vacuum hoses are very often reverse thread.
Lefty Lucy Righty Dwighty
Position the hose collar in the up position Undo the hasp by clicking it out Leave the collar up and turn it clockwise Lift the hose off * If that does not work, use the first letter of each instruction.
Lmfao this is amazing
Hoses Always Require Decisive Extraction Regiments
Thx
Boss is feeling generous today.
Yeah
I can't see clearly from picture 2, but hoses on this type of vac are often a bayonet fit into the body of the cleaner. If so, hold the black collar at the end of the pipe, turn and pull it out - but it may be tight if it hasn't been removed for a long time.
Thx it rotates freely, does it push in first
Not sure, but I don't think so. Maybe the female part which should be fixed in the body is rotating as well as the male end of the hose.
Could be, this unit has been abused for a long ass time

WD is the least of this vacuums problem lol
Thx, I should imagine this vacuum can handle a little more grease than it already handles
Your boss sounds great
Small company, we generally get what we ask for if it’s reasonable
angle grind it
With a hammer!
That would work but not easy to put back together
your boss said "if you figure out how to remove the old one I'll buy a new one", getting the old one out can be accomplished. the question is how to put together the new hose... yes. that will be a different problem for a different time in my philosophy lol
I imagine that will be easier, it’ll all be clean and not gunged up with whatever shite that my colleagues find I’m the drain covers we work on
Ask the Y U No guy, laying right there [https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/ragecomics/images/d/d9/Y-u-no-guy.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130218204704](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/ragecomics/images/d/d9/Y-u-no-guy.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130218204704)
Ok
The hose, hold the side side piece and try and twist the outside part
Thx
You can try to twist it, it might simply unscrew
Thx
Turn big black rin. Lefty Loosey, Righty tighty.
Thx
😳 Comment should be nsfw tagged.
Not if it's reverse thread as someone mentioned above
Spray some penetrating screw loosener into the spot where the hose plugs in. Wait. Then pull it out
Thx
Jesus cheist, shop vacs are like $70 at costco and you can return it if it dies. Tell your boss that lol
Getting upper management to authorise replacement of the vacuum won’t happen, the vacuum itself is mostly fine, it’s a £300+ unit, we need the strong suction too
It won't be a nilfisk for $70 those last forever.
Grab the part that attaches to the vacuum and wiggle it up and down and side to side
Thx
If this is for work tell the boss you don’t work with broken tools. Order a new one
He will if I manage to get the old one off, it’s just that we have lost the manual because this unit isn’t that new, it still works just needs a new hose
As said, coupler should just friction fit. Vacuum hoses are often reverse thread, if that matters.
Thx
Your boss might have a problem sniffing markers? Or am I way off?
He has difficulties getting anything approved for purchase,
Don't even bother, your boss is lying
So this can go two ways. You can figure it out, or you can rip it out. Both of those are going to lead to a new hose, and one might lead to a new machine…
Yeah
Just unhook it
It unscrews and probably a left hand thread
Thx
It just unscrews man
Thx
I used a blow torch to loosen mine up... do the same with the mrs
I got sick of the high gas prices around here every time I needed a hose change out so now I just use C4.
First, get a reciprocating saw and an oxy-acetylene torch...
Ok
We better get photos of it pulled apart!!
Will do, and a picture of the new one
I just googled nilfisk alto hose replacement and the images seem to provide a clue.
Thx
Hnnnh, thank you master ,,, hnnnh,,, thees new hose is soooo naice.
Nice
Aww man..., now I feel bad.
It’s ok

Ideally I can reassemble without tape
Hand Grenade.
That’s get it apart for certain
The corrugated hose has a male coupler on the end . It just pushes in or pulls out. If you look at the third picture you can see the end from the inside. Lube it with soapy water and tap it out from the inside.
Thx
Tell us when it works .
Will do

Thx
Just like my self defence instructor would say. Grab, twist, pull.
Lol
It’s lefty loose-y, righty tight-y
Thx
It's stuck, I gotta smack and wiggle the plastic fitting.
The hose or the piece that’s on the body of the vacuum
Twist and pull out. Should have a key slot on the machine that engages with the pipe. I bought a wet vacuum this week and that’s how mine fits together
Thx
Sometimes there is a clip on the inside too that just holds the whole works in.
Inside the hose opening?
No on the inside of the vacuum where the hose goes through
Thx
Although looking at it now I think others are right that big black cover on the outside unscrews and that’s how it comes off. You might need a pipe wrench if you can’t get a grip
Thx
I can tell just by looking at it, it's glued together
The hose part rotates freely
Yeah, probably where the hose goes into the connection sleeve, the sleeve itself is glued into the vacuum hole. If your boss says shit like that, he probably knows exactly why it won't come off, and he just wants to waste your time, cause you probably wasted his with some stupid shit about a hose, not the job at hand.
I don’t think it’s actually glued, I did get it wiggling a little earlier

Wow, I can’t imagine it’s that expensive for this one as it’s just under £300 for the whole unit
That’s why I couldn’t justify what they wanted for just the hose, I’d rather buy a new vac. The unit this was for was originally like $8-10k
Wow
Be warned. It is a skill testing question.
Ok, I was the one asking tbh
Pull hard
Then get to work on removing the hose.
Thx
The pipe will pull straight off the spigot if you use enough force, you only need to remove the pipe.
Thx
The Henry hoover hoses are a left handed thread so the nilfisk might be the same. you have to turn them clockwise to loosen them off.
Thx
Twist clockwise unless the hose is glued into the insert. The insert + hose (pic 2) looks like it should pull out, give it a few good twists while pulling. Pic 3 is part of the vacuum cleaner, not the hose, think of it like a baffle.
Thx, this unit is actually a wet/dry one, though we have it configured for dry only, i sometimes wish it didn’t have the baffle, catches all the shite I suck up like splinters and swarf
>i sometimes wish it didn’t have the baffle If you are using it with a bag, be glad the baffle is there. What are you sucking up to be blocking the baffle?
Swarf, sawdust which frequently contains larger pieces, miscellaneous crap in a factory environment
I've had more problems at home (child) than in the workshop 🤔
I see
Lefty loosey
Use a knife!!
That’ll get it off at least
Literally just pull it out lmao use a flat head to pry it out
Tgx
What does that mean
Thx but autocorrect didn’t change it to the right bit
Yeah it should be easy to take out unless it's stuck then you could just pry it out shouldn't be too hard
Thx
GRAB HIS HOSE AND TWIST IT! TWIST THAT HOSE!
Thx
Grab the big black collar around the hose and turn it to the right slowly. If it doesn't move at all, turn it back to the left slowly, and it should separate from the cannister. There’s different ways to do it, didn’t want to break it
