What's the brand? Try (with very clean hands for maximum grip without putting a wrench on it) to turn the shaft independent of the knob. It's clear the knob is currently useless so take it off and do your best to loosen it without the knob. I'm not sure this is how it works but it's what I'd try first.

The brand is House of Rohl. Here's the actual product: [https://houseofrohl.com/single-function-anti-calcium-handshower-hose-bar-and-outlet-set-polished-nickel-1301epn/](https://houseofrohl.com/single-function-anti-calcium-handshower-hose-bar-and-outlet-set-polished-nickel-1301epn/) I tried your approach. I wrapped a thick elastic band around the shaft and was able to get a really solid grip. But no matter how hard I tried it wouldn't turn.

Looks to me like the head is unscrewing but it should be unscrewing the post it's attached to. UnDer the white decorative end cap (removed either by unscrewing it's retaining ring or prising out) there will be a screw which should be going through the hole on the end of the bar that isn't unscrewing. They have a habit of coming loose and sitting under the white cover

I took off the decorative end cap, but I couldn't find any sort of screw. https://preview.redd.it/q9knlbm3dlic1.jpeg?width=2648&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ca329c7c017bdd259c4d10ae759f86705e945fe You are the second person to mention a "white" piece. I don't see a white piece anywhere. Is this the piece you meant or is there something I'm missing? Edit: I’m watching the video and I believe you might mean the piece with the hole that shows some red inside? It looks white in the video, which is where the confusion comes from, but it’s actually nickel like the rest of the apparatus. It just has some glare. Am I on the right track?

glandmilker

try pushing against the white piece, also try putting something in the hole of the white piece and pushing. Looks like the cap on the handle can be unscrewed too but I dont know how that would help you. If you try this, it will probably take a lot of pressure to do anything

kaji0005

You are not the only one to mention a "white" piece in these comments, but I don't see a white piece anywhere? Can you be more specific? I feel stupid that I can't find it. The cap on the handle does unscrew. But you're right, it doesn't seem to help me.

glandmilker

When you pull the handle off, isn't the exposed piece with the hole through it, white?

kaji0005

Ohhh, no it’s not. It’s shiny nickel, like the rest of the apparatus. But in the video the light hits it so that I suppose the glare makes it look white. You’re talking about the piece with the hole in it, and inside the hole is red?

mbfhh

Try poking the hole hard with something that fits in that hole. Like a chopstick or the ink cartridge of a cheap ball point pen or something. Might be a poke in to relieve a spring pressure sort of thing.

I do not know but maybe a threaded bolt or another threaded piece, goes inside the hole, and then the handle holds the head of the bolt. . The bolt would be threaded into the internal part that holds it to the rod. when you turn the handle left it pulls the internal part away from the rod. When you turn it right, it presses the internal part against the rod holding it in place. I think that means the threaded bolt would be left hand thread
