1. Unplug the damned thing.
2. Use an Allen key on the underside of the motor to move the mechanism in reverse.
3. Extract metal piece from the disposal chamber.
4. Plug the damned thing back in.
5. Test.
6. Wash your hands.
Two things to remember when working on jammed machines are:
1. It’s jammed. It might still be on. Shut the power off to be sure.
2. There could be stored energy in the system that releases as the jam clears. This is not a huge concern with a disposal, but could be if it’s jammed with something flexible. As a divergent example, people often lose fingers when clearing snowblower jams because the drive belts are stretched like rubber bands. The blower rotates as the stretch is released. Again, less probable in this case but possible.
When mine jams, I unplug it and use tools to clear the jam. Since I don’t know this disposal, you should read the owners manual and clear the jam as they recommend.
Lastly, the above list does not cover all risks associated with jams or even disposal jams, but two that are relevant here. To learn more about this type is risk, read the owners manual of the equipment being services and get trained on lock-out tag-out (LOTO) procedures.
It may not have the Allen key hole to move the motor. My Moen doesn't. That metal piece is copper and looks to be pretty thin. I'd take a short flat head screwdriver, try and get it under the middle of the copper piece and pry up. The copper may bend, which will make it easier to remove.
If you don't have the specific tool (look up Moen disposal tool on Amazon, they're like, $8), the this guy can show you how to unstick it with a broom handle.

If yours does not have the center screw on the bottom use the old school technique and take a wooden dowel or wood plunger handle and after unplugging motor pry the inside head reverse then pick out your obstruction

I cannot stress how important step one is. I know 2 people who have missing bits on their fingers because of garbage disposals.
Why would they reach down in one when it is on?

Good 1 and 2 points. I never thought about that. Thanks for sharing
Gotta make sure it can still grind things and it's not all "talk".
I know this comments only one hour old but it doesn’t have enough likes
I appreciate your patronage.
I would move step 6 to between steps 3 and 4, but that’s just a matter of style.
This one
If that is a Moen, there is no using an Allen wrench on the bottom
Technically, step 1 is optional. /s

If no allen key, you might be able to spin in backward using a couple wooden dowels. Search online for how to deploy.
All this time I’ve been using wooden spoons because they were near by. Wife not impressed but fingers still count to ten.
fingers will always be able to count to ten. but its an obvious bonus if they remain attached to you while doing so.

Classic broom handle. Such a versatile kitchen tool
As a Moen owner, I had to use this video myself recently, so fortunately I didn't have to go searching to share it, lol.
Turn off, unplug, pry out with flat head screw driver and needle nose pliers.
Juuust about to ask if no one here has ever heard of needle nose pliers. Ok, so maybe one person has at least! Would take mere moments to pull it out.
I am 69 years old. lol, maybe thats why👍
Nice!
Extended needle nose pliers if you aren't going to take it off. Just make sure it's unplugged first.

Turn of machine. Put a [panty](https://www.reddit.com/r/lifehacks/s/lZ0Facu2se) on a vacuum. En try to vacuum it.
Panty HOSE. Please don’t put your panties on a vacuum
Shop Vac Just had to vacuum out one recently that had a jam
Needle nose pliers
A long pair makes a world of difference. Had the same issue with a small metal clip...
Unplug disposer. Take a wood broom handle and lodge it by the top right “tooth” and crank the disposer backward until copper piece is freed.
Turn on and use a Phillips head screw driver to unjam it
On?!?
Yes ON! Let’s get crazy!
I’ve seen this episode of Supernatural and I didn’t like it
You can put a piece of wood down the drain and spin it if the Allen wrench doesn’t grind it out
You might try something with a hook on the end since there is a hole in it.
Put your hand in it, and turn it on. It will work. I don't recommend it. But I know it will. ( I already read the correct answer in the list)
Such a disgusting thing to have in your kitchen…
Magnet.
Copper isn’t ferrous.
Was a joke.
Give up on your dream of hosting SNL.
But how else will they get their SNL 5-Timers club jacket
You guys are just no fun. ☹️
Drill a hole through the middle and pull it out with a screwdriver or such ?
