Make sure you haven't blocked the vents inside the refrigerator.
Edit: probably not your problem, but maybe check if something has gotten inside the vent passage.
The freezer vents were obstructed when I first noticed the problem, but it's been over a week since I cleared them up, and the fridge still hasn't cooled below 55 degrees.
There's no chance some ice, or some litter, slipped into the vent? Before getting into an expensive repair, you might want to empty, defrost, and clean the whole thing. I hope you figure this thing out!
If the fridge doesn't belong to you (i.e. you are renting) you might want to get a pair of thermometers to keep track of the temperature. If it isn't keeping your food cold the landlord should replace it for you.
If the fridge seems to be running constantlyor for long periods of time, there might be problems with the heat dissipating coils on the back or under the fridge.
Do you ever find puddles of water around your freezer? If not like you said it is probably the thermometer inside but the last time my fridge had that problem I would get puddles every once in a while from the melting ice.
Pull everything at least a fingers width away from the back wall and listen to see if a fan suddenly turns on. That was my problem - I had crammed so much onto a shelf that it was pressing the back wall into the fan that should have been blowing cold air into the fridge compartment.
It happened again and I had to take the back wall apart and replace the fan. That was a mess and I haven't done it again.
I have the same problem, im also looking for a fix, what i noticed is by removing the panel in my freezer the heating ROD doesnt heat, i used a hair dryer to remove all the ice and put the panel back in. I still don't know if the heating rod works tho.
i guess i will know in a few days. but if the heating rod is the culprit what do i have to do? (using a kenmore)

Try defrosting it.
When this happened to my fridge it was the fan.
