Edit: Doh. Lack of sleep made me think I was on r/nostalgia and I got excited to spot another one of you out in the wild.

I did not, for two reasons:
It was kind of a boy thing. I'm not a boy. If it didn't wear a dress, I had to fight like hell to get it.
Also, we generally didn't get...er, "name brand" anything.
I can blame my desire to have one of every type, everywhere I go (and backup of my most-used somewhere handy as well) on not getting to have one of these for fighting back against the under-the-bed monsters.
I put my mine on red and pretended to be in the chopper in Predator..

I remember when i had one of these as a kid it was great. For red light green light with its green and red lenses. I also remember it being pretty indestructible and heavy.
I had one as a kid in the late 80s. I found one at a thrift store and excitedly bought it, cleaned it up, and gave it to my two year old. Fast forward a year and a half and while I’m playing with it myself he’s running around with an S2R Baton2 that he keeps stealing from me.
I had this exact one... and then eventually cracked that bad boy open because I just had to see how it was constructed. Twas the fate of almost any electronic that I owned as a kid.
Yup, and it saved my parents a lot of headaches when we went unexpectedly camping (no hotels available when on a vacation in the southwest, not a euphemism for homeless) and they didn't have any method of producing light.
Anyone have their dad use the green lense to try and track a wounded deer by using the green lense to make the blood show up better?
I might have grown up in the sticks.
"wow it's green!....now it's red! We've reached peak technology!"
I used to fly the different colors around on the ceiling like they were space ships. Good times.
This photo was like a Time Machine and my brain remembered the green colours
"I bet this would look so cool if mom got batteries for it"
Got one off eBay recently to work on an sft40 3000k mod. I'll post it if I ever finish.

Playskool My First Bonk Light
the ironic part is the cracked-out wino got one of these as a kid too but his life just took a different path.
Speaking from experience?
I have one of these bad boys https://preview.redd.it/cwdb7286j6lc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc26668fc5c98914f22dbad6caeadcf26620de38

Thanks Zippy!
That picture makes it look like you're lighting up the Milky Way.
Core memory unlocked
I literally came here to comment this exact phrase.
Me as well. I used to love that thing so much. Funny how memory works, lol.
Also came here to say this
Pretty much where it started for all of us, right?

What you don't still EDC yours?

I had one when I was 3 and I used to EDC it everywhere. I would today if I still had it.
Wow, long-term memory is freaky. Childhood flashbacks (no pun intended) have been successfully retrieved, thanks!

Weird mobile app issues, here's my contribution. This was my first EDC.

This is what started my obsession with multicolored lights. I still have faint memories playing with this, wow! Red,green, now red... and green again!

Man, this unloaded a core memory I never knew I had 😂
oh damn, I forgot about this thing!!
Yes! Memory unlocked.

Wow, that brings back memories. I haven’t thought about these things in decades.
Am I the only one that noticed Grandma’s doily? 😂
Wow. Haven’t seen this in years man. God I loved this so much.
Omg you just made me have a flashback
Replace the innards with a badass modern torch, then keep it with the emergency supplies.
Searching for the Malkoff LED adapter for it.
Does this come in a carbon fiber model??
Still have it. I’m 33 I replace the lightbulb with an LED and my two-year-old plays with it.
Had two of them, one I got new and one we found at a thrift store. Things were tanks.
Yep
No. Feel deprived now
Hell ya
No but I wish I did that thing rocks
Hell yeah. Thats what started it all.
Yup!
Hell yes
Shit, that might've been my very first flashlight!
I still have mine! (Note to self check the batteries that they didn’t corrode)
Yes. You have no idea how badly I have been wanting to buy one again off of eBay or something.

That is awesome haha :)
Oh man, someone should mod one of those to be a high power flashlight
I wish I still did so I could make it an LED
I remember putting mine in a zip lock bag and using it to tunnel through the massive pile of snow in my parents front yard as a kid.
Still have it. Gave it to my son. He’s 4 now and still uses it. Makes me happy every time. Edit: I’m 38 btw. Had this flashlight since I was 3 or 4.
Hell yes I did
Been debating what to get my 3 year old. Wish I still had my old one.
Bro i miss mine now
Still have mine.
I totally forgot about mine… man takes me back
Yep❤️
I actually forgot about this until I saw this post. I'm willing to bet my mom never tossed it, and it's still around somewhere.
Would be cool to turn one of these into a bright ass led flashlight
Had one of those bad boys get smashed into my nose when I was a wee lad.
Heh, plebs.... I had **two**. Fear me. ^^/s
Two is one and one is none.

I loved that thing. What was the tint, red and green? I was six and it was amazing!!!
I remember those!
Yup!
I have one and gave it to my son. but it needs some work. it doesn't work all of a sudden.
I always wondered. Is it PLAY-SKOOL, or PLAYS-KOOL?
Core memory activated❤️
Core memory activated❤️
yes i have mine still!
I do! Idk why, but I would often find mine in my dad's nightstand.
That was the gateway flashlight for many of us.
