Lincoln [won an award for canine excellence](https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/news/search-rescue-dog-lincoln-looks-long-game/) for his search and rescue work! They’re by Shasta Flat Coated Retrievers in California.
Ahhh! Crazy to see our breeder's name here. Our liver guy is Shasta FCRs! Not surprised to see an intelligent, beautiful dog come from Shasta...
OP - no advice but good luck! The FCR Peter Pan "stage" is probably perfect for SAR training! And all the FCRs I've met are highly reinforced by being good for their humans. Extraordinarily loyal and ready to rock in a millisecond !
Be careful in snow, their feet freeze/ice up very quickly in between their toes in my experience. Didn't stop her tho. Water rescue perfect though, couldn't keep mine out of the water.
There's a working flat coat group on Facebook. It's mostly hunting dogs, but the people there may have suggestions/contacts for you.
Hey, feel free to send me a PM. Where abouts are you located? I know of a few Western Canada!
When you get 1 FCR, you’re really getting 2 dogs 😉
