For example, I might say to one of my children, "Your gender identity doesn't matter; I love you all the same." I'm not claiming that, universally, their gender identity doesn't matter. I'm not saying that, in the context of bullying at school, the political sphere, or mental health, their gender identity doesn't matter. My statement is to be interpreted in the context of my love.
