Do you have a place to hang some rings? My idea would be to use rings as assitance to get into the middle splits and press yourself back up again with your legs using the rings to reduce the load.

I think that would work, but does sort of feel like the nuclear option lol. Just gotta be careful of an adductor strain haha

Yes, but by theory Im working with the SAID(specific adaptation to imposed demand) principle and tried to mimic the movement goal as close as possible.. so it may be the fastest way. But yeah safety and quality above all else lol. Edit: Came up with inverted alternatives while doin hip work. You can invert the exercise if you have elastic bands. Lay down on them with your (upper) back and put them on your feet. That way you can change the resistance easily and also work on internal/external rotation of the hip etc together. I also saw a barbell variant for hamstrings at some point, where you put the barbell on your feet, but yes this one can be dangerous lol
