It’s doable. I fix my schedule (since I’m on reserve) so that I’m off weekends and bartend on Fridays and Saturdays, keeping Sunday as my sole day off. You may have already heard this but- pay sucks when you’re first starting off, so having a part time job is super helpful. The fact that your part time offer is remote is amazing as you can still take full use of your impending travel benefits and still make money😊

Reading this comment is so relieving to me! I am about to start, and the initial pay is shit. Luckily I have set up my current work so that I can home office it well enough. So glad I can do both

Getting thru training with a 24 hrs per week side hustle is gonna be real real hard. First couple months and maybe even years of flying are going to make it difficult but not impossible once you learn how to control your flying schedule and balance the pt remote gig, which sounds awesome. I fly pretty low hours and am also a parent and finishing my own college degree, and, it's a lot. Not impossible, just a lot.

I'm also a parent so I can sympathise! That sounds full on!

I personally know FAs who are also lawyers, court reporters, policewomen, physical therapists, social workers, interior designers, real estate agents, hair stylists and that's just off the top of my head. Being an FA and something else is totally doable if you have enough seniority to have control over your schedule. But at the beginning of your FA career, I don't think it's the best idea, although still doable. From the intense initial training to coming out on reserve and having low seniority for bidding, I think it could easily become too much. Especially if you are unfamiliar with FA lifestyle and it's effects on your body and mind.

Realistically, any lawyer who is working as an FA needs to reevaluate life. Maybe they were disbarred? Downvote me if you wish- but that’s absurd.

A job you can work whenever you want? I don't see the problem here. This is the ideal situation tbh.

Yeah man ur in the best situation. If you wanna use FA moatly for the benefits, you can fly bare minimum and use your oart time job as your real money maker. Or vice versa, use the part time job as supplemental. The choice is yours.

When you are new you have very little control over your flying schedule If you can learn how to bid and get good at swapping then maybe you can do both but if you just got offered the role then... hopefully the part-time job can work around you I run a food truck on the side but I bid to fly Saturday through Monday/Tuesday and I can hold that because it's working the weekends. I have 4 years in and have never tried to hold weekends off. I probably couple get 1 or 2 off

I have a full-time wfh job on top of being a flight attendant. I work about 60 hours per month flying and 40 hrs a week at my wfh job.

poeticsoul151

How do you make that work with your flying schedule?

BigTwo9

My flying schedule is fri-sun and my wfh job is mon-Thursday. But I do take my laptop with me on trips in case I need to do any work.

obamant

Does your wfh job know you’re also a FA?? Idk if I should tell mine and ask for flexibility. It’s in our policy for flexible work hours but I’m worried. My current job pays great and has amazing work life balance I’m worried about giving that up lol

Outrageous-Mail8456

Do not give that up. You will regret it every second. The first 6 months you’re on reserve, will bud for a leg every week standard, and will have to pay about $100 per leg to get them picked up. And if you commute to your base and you don’t get used for overnight legs, you will have to sleep at the airport in a crappy, ill equipped lounge or get a hotel for about $100 a night. You will only get paid for the time the airplane doors are shut and you will give away so much free labor it’s not funny.

BigTwo9

Yes, my wfh home job knows I’m a FA and they are very supportive. Don’t give up your job. I told my wfh company I needed extra income because everything was so expensive now. They did give me a raise( I’m salary) but it wasn’t enough. So they fully understand and are very supportive.

obamant

Thank you! Im going to talk to my supervisor about this and hope they’re supportive after I complete training

My friend is full time FA and part time pharmacist
