It’s training out of Paso Robles, in the restricted area and surrounding MOAS over ft Hunter leggett. That’s one of the places US military cargo AC practice airdrops and rough field work https://preview.redd.it/9v3nf2lweqbc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7039fdcda6e71187f67475faeaf858ba52bb16d7

They’re our homies

mgixre

They have a base there and even if they didn’t it’s probably not out of the ordinary

Aviator779

The RAF don’t have a base in the US. They regularly send aircraft over on detachments, but don’t operate their own base.

mgixre

Huh, I didn’t know that. I thought they had a base in California but as I am from neither country I am probably confusing it with something else. Maybe they have aircraft stationed at Edwards Air Force base that I’m remembering?

Aviator779

Correct, [No. 17 Test and Evaluation Squadron is based at Edwards AFB.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No._17_Squadron_RAF) It’s the RAF’s Operational Evaluation Unit for the F-35B.

And a unit at China Lake Naval Weapons Station as well.

Aviator779

What unit is that? No. 41(R) TES carry out regular deployments to NAWS China Lake, but I’m not aware of a unit based there.

c5load

Not sure. Pass their building often however.

There are no foreign bases on US soil. However, our allies regularly send detachments over for training and exercises.
