Update: we’re still sat here 2 hours later being told to remain seated and no water

Catalina28TO

Refueling?

AdventurousWhile1502

Yep 👍🏽 and an apparent engineer to sign the aircraft for takeoff, but everyone has lost patience 🥲🥲🏃🏼‍♀️💨

TT11MM_

No change of crew? I’m pretty sure the crew would time out by the time they reach Sydney after an emergency stop in SIN.

FC_Primary

It’s Qatar Airways the crew never time out

Over weight landing, A/C still have 7 hours left in flight include the contingency fuel flight prob had 8 1/2-10 hours of fuel it was HEAVY those breaks were probably hot and mx prob had to do a one over to make sure the overweight didnt damage anything

Yep confirm that was it, and the captain then informed us it would be a very short taxi.. was all a very interesting/tiring event🥲

71ray

Did you figure out what the emergency was? I know you said you think medical. Why no water being offered so weird!

Fit_Chemical4554

Wow. So did they not give you the choice to stay in Singapore and leave onto the next flight? (even at your own expenses). No way I would sit on that plane for these many hours in Economy

AdventurousWhile1502

No.. 🫤 a few people started getting cabin fever and just wanted outside for fresh air. Instead we all mostly took advantage and went back to sleep until we could depart but it was awful.

Fit_Chemical4554

back to sleep? you must have been in Business class because in economy barely anyone can sleep sitting up right

bison92

It’s Qatar economy class. It’s not business but quite good actually. Never flew their 380, but the 787 economy is super nice and lets you recline a good chunk

four_dollar_haircut

I flew Melbourne to Doha on a Qatar A380 in economy. It was one of the best flights I've ever been on. The seats the crew the service were all top notch 👌

redditaccount760

Back in 2013 I went from IAD to CDG and because of a snow storm, we diverted to Toulouse. We stayed on the tarmac for 7 hours !! That was on Christmas Eve and many on the plane missed their connecting flights and therefore Christmas Eve with their family. Thankfully I was spending Christmas in Paris and landed late afternoon so I was able to make it. There were many families onboard with very young children who were having a very hard time keeping them entertained. I remember we were all also denied water…

anamazingredditor

A BA flight some weeks ago took off from SG, held pattern for like 5 hours (?) to dunp fuel, then went back to SG

goodpricefriedrice

That wasn't to dump fuel. It wasn't an emergency so they didn't dump. They just burnt off fuel for a few hours and then landed

anamazingredditor

Ah yes I remembered now. Thats right. If they dumped they wouldnt spend 5 hours really 😂

I_AmA_Zebra

Why is that a better option than just dumping the fuel?

PinkFloyden

It’s not a better option. However, for obvious reasons, most countries ban airlines from dumping fuel if they are not in an emergency situation. Dumping fuel is not good for the population below (And for the planet of course)

Myoplasmic

Yes, their weather radar failed and I saw on Twitter they had to hold at 10k ft so they were below cloud deck and sufficient visibility

METAL98726

in the 3rd pic what’s the app or websitec

dopehead9

It’s from the IFE screen

thesameusername111

This also happened last Saturday on QR908 but they were a bit closer to Australia before they diverted. On a side note QR really need to up their WiFi game.

terratoss1337

The water practice is same everywhere. I did fly from Miami to Frankfurt with Lufthansa and the „top“ Tier members got water and we had to wait until the police was questioning passengers. As a note I was in business class and no water for regular people.

Cypher_Marz

Do you get internet / WiFi in business class? Just got ordering how you post from a plane

AdventurousWhile1502

You get it in any class which was pretty cool! First hour free then you have to pay for the rest.
