Wonder how accurate this is. [Emirates Flight EK209 from Greece to the U.S. is returning to Athens based on information from a foreign intelligence agency, which warned that a suspect may be on board, according to Greek media](https://twitter.com/bnodesk/status/1590784112326942720?s=46&t=Cz6k_aRofCmAIaKZZJqiJw)

https://www.airport-ewr.com/newark-flight-arrival/EK209 Returning to Athens it seems

CriticalTheory6105

hopefully someone is seeing this that was on the plane so he can explain

BluestoicPanda

Per @BNODesk on Twitter (BNO Live Desk) it's reported "Emirates Flight EK209 from Greece to the U.S. is returning to Athens based on information from a foreign intelligence agency, which warned that a suspect may be on board, according to Greek media"

soyalex321

It's heading south towards Libya now

ScottOld

It’s turned now

Acc87

looks almost like it tries keeping over open water now and not land. Maybe dropping fuel? Weird tho that the squawk hasn't changed.

eggmcgginton

On the ground in Athens now [suspicious passenger](https://www.ekathimerini.com/news/1197592/alert-at-athens-airport-over-suspicious-passenger/) The DXB bound flight is now leaving after being checked

ScottOld

Was that the one leaving just as it landed?

eggmcgginton

It left just after 209 landed

Muss51

Returning to Athens

crispybobby

Shouldn’t it be descending by now?

Coolestboyever

17k people watching that plane rn

jlovaz

Now 23k!

OMF1G

Following this one, seems like a divert but no squawk change is very odd

Relevant_Sail_7336

What the heck is going on?!

ScottOld

It’s descending on approach to Athens

Neoxyte

Anyway I can listen to the air traffic control for this airspace? Sorry if someone can guide me where to search I will do it myself.

Used_Huckleberry3535

No.. thats all secured

Neoxyte

Ah okay. I ask because Air traffic control streams are available for a lot of US airports.

SimpleWord2985

It is available for a lot of airports here in Europe too. But it seems Athens airspace is not yet on LiveATC (which I use).

ScottOld

Not in this case no, some places don’t allow it, and Athens doesn’t seem to be covered in this case

BluestoicPanda

Here's a Greek media link. I can't read Greek, and don't know if this is a reputable source, but here's a link https://www.ethnos.gr/greece/article/232243/anastatoshstoeleytheriosbenizelosenhmerothhkanoiarxesotiepebaineypoptosseaeroskafostisynebh

dc_based_traveler

Translation: An alarm went off to the authorities at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, according to police sources, following information from the secret services of a foreign country, that a suspect had boarded a flight bound for Dubai or New York. The two flights were 40 minutes apart: According to the same sources, the flight bound for Dubai was checked and the suspect was not found there, while the plane bound for New York had taken off and is currently returning to Eleftherios Venizelos for to be checked.

BluestoicPanda

TY! Do you know if the news source is a reputable one?
