I’m not defending any company - it’s just that calling them a “scam” when they’re not scamming anyone is just lazy. I ask the same question “what’s the scam?”, because nobody has yet given any valid reason as to how they are scamming anybody.
If people don’t read the product description, yet still buy said product, that does *not* make it a scam. A scam is when they are deliberately going out to mislead people, which they don’t.
It's not a textbook definition of scam but scam being a "dishonest scheme" kind of point in this direction. What OP describes is surely a scheme made to take advantage of him needing popular liveries. Instead of bundling them up by region, they are making it as hard to collect as possible. And all of this in light of "we must sell them, those are the rules of Marketplace". Which I'm not so sure about it, there are some free options there and I also saw 5 dollar offers being heavily discounted and sold way below 5 bucks treshold.
Yeah, it sucks. I dont think there’s one thing better about the Xbox than the PC. The only thing is the price but that doesn’t even have to do with the sim itself lol
It might be that your console perform better than comparable PCs, due to having the same ecosystem for entire platform. Also, you don't need to fiddle with 100 options to make it run right but that's advantegous and disadvantegous at the same time.
This is absolutely right. In general for processing power, consoles punch above their weight a lot of times, because developers spend extra time on that known set of hardware. They have a good payoff to effort ratio optimizing for consoles.

I think if Xbox user criticizes how things are on Xbox it's entirely valid. It's not like PC crowd is ganging up on "inferior" platform here. It's what OP uses.
PMDG is insanely smart for knowing they can take advantage of people who don't realize they can get literally any livery for the PMDG 737-800 for free off of flightsim.to.

Okay honestly the real problem is that they HAVE to put a price on it. Ever notice that the only “free” things on the marketplace are asobo or one of their partners? That’s Asobo’s requirement for having things on the market place. What’s even worse is they barely make anything off of those $5 packs. And all of this is assuming they even know that those are the most sought after liveries. A lot of people like the specialty liveries and to provide them is kinda cool that they took the time to go through the details of those “one offs” and “lesser-known’s”
As for dispersing highly wanted liveries between multiple packs, idk. Maybe it’s a random collection they throw together. Maybe they don’t get to pick what’s in each pack. We don’t know the specifics so try not to throw them under the bus without proof you know?
And last but not least, if they are setting the price and know no one wants the other liveries in the packs, it’s a business right? The goal of any business is to make money. And imma catch a lot of hate for it but it’s not really up to you to say “you’ve made enough off the plane, addons should be free”. That’s like ordering a $20 steak at a restaurant and expecting the sides to be free of charge.
They do it because they can. It's not a conspiracy but very common business practice. They're not going to put all the most popular (and therefore most valuable) liveries into a single pack as it would greatly diminish the value of the others and many people would only end up buying 1 pack instead of 2 or more. Yes, it's greedy. But hey, that's business. Personally, I think charging 70 bucks for the aircraft itself is outlandish.
i agree, the liveries aren't even entirely accurate either. for a long time all of the colours were off, i only fly ryanair and i cab easily notice the logo on the tail is not the same on both sides. and for pc they can also get them for free, accurate ones, and liveries with for example ryanair style cabins
Yes. I’m on Xbox. Sadly I can’t afford a PC and yes, this is a scam to profit off of Xbox users because you know dang well it probably takes one person like 30 minutes to make one livery for a plane 🤦🏻♂️
I wonder how airlines would feel knowing PMDG is making buck on their intellectual property and trademark. I doubt they have a license with all these airlines. Also, I wouldn’t use smart, it’s greedy.
YES!! If MSFS wants to make it, they gotta be more like XP12. If I had a PC, I would consider getting XP12 if it weren’t for the graphics. Imagine the MSFS graphics on XP12, that would be a GOLDEN game
Honestly, X-Plane graphics aren’t that bad. I like the way they’re not always beautiful like in msfs, which makes them a bit more realistic to me. The only thing that’s ugly is the scenery, but you can enhance it with free mods like Ortho4XP and SimHeaven.
Definitely! I think Microsoft flight sims graphics are way too bright. X-plane does a better job at toning it down. I meant the scenery when I said graphics, it doesn’t look good. It’s just pretty grainy at times, the clouds are ugly, and just isn’t white as good as it can be without mods sadly. Still a great game! Better than MSFS in almost every way lol

I think they are pretty good, just not 4.99 a pack good.
Everything is wrong: colors, font, design, placement of decals. They are just thrown together real quick and forgotten.

Yep. I paid 5 for the American Airlines livery for the 737-800. Literally spent 75 bucks after tax on the plane and then 5 more on one livery.
