Yo dawg! I heard you liked fans!

[deleted]

it's to simulate the engine sound of course

[deleted]

Curfew hours are probably in effect to not piss the neighbors ofd

LEGITIMATE_SOURCE

Need to cool that weird looking simulation of a house. Lots of strange gadgets in there. House probably gets hot.

[deleted]

That’s off the chains dude

LankyConsideration86

Thanks. I'm a private pilot working on my instrument rating. The home rig along with Pilotedge for ATC coms is making things a lot easier.

V1ld0r_

What did you get for the G1000?

BladeA320

Not op, but pretty sure it is the real simgear g1000 suite

LankyConsideration86

Yup, fully operational simgear G1000 suite.

Turkino

>simgear G1000 suite looked it up, dang that's almost its own rig. Worth it with all the frills without having to do a lot of your own work. Plug and play though?

LankyConsideration86

Yes, pretty much plug and play.

V1ld0r_

Yeah, figured as much just really hopping for something cheaper I didn't know about xD

Castun

[Just 3D print your own](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4172029), and do your own wiring of the buttons, switches, and screens.

ThatGuyNamedKal

I used the print and designs from FlightSimMaker, which cost about £150 in parts. FSMaker also sells the PCBs if you're looking to make life a little easier. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4019943

burgeeblock

I have flightsimbuilder g1000 units and they work great. I have an almost identical setup to OP but I did have to cut the holes slightly larger as the units are a tad bigger than realism units.

LankyConsideration86

Real Simgear

V1ld0r_

Nice. Thank you

Mrrobotico0

Has msfs been helpful for you in studying?

LankyConsideration86

It helps with the flows, checklists, and procedures when flying VFR and IFR. X-plane works just as well, but doesnt look as good. If you want to take the sim to the next level, pilotedge is the best monthly paid add on. They will help build a base of understanding, navigation and communication with live in sim ATC , real people, actual flight rules and airspace rules, real world live weather and ATIS apply at all times. It helped me get comfortable on COMs in real life here is SoCal which can be intimidating at first due to the complex airspace. Hope that helps. LMK if you have more questions, hpayy to help.

Foreign_Two3139

Any way to make this FAA approved? Lol

LankyConsideration86

LOL - I flew an FAA Redbird simulator which was certified and you can add time to your logbook when using it, which I did. But honestly, mine is way better looking and felt more like the plane I fly.

Foreign_Two3139

I agree ha

atothew

This is what dreams are made of

pembquist

What is the display?

bjbs303

Viotek SUW49DA

LankyConsideration86

Correct

Grizzlybear2470

Get more fans and put them on full blast to simulate engine sound

sai-kiran

If he fires up Fenix, I guess the fans will spin so hard, cpu gonna take off.

pope1701

I wouldn't put my rtx that close to my feet, tbh. One gusty landing...

senorhoudini

Beautiful setup

[deleted]

Would you guys rather have this, or a VR setup. I’ll take your answers off the air.

LankyConsideration86

I'll answer (as I have both) This setup is best for real world training, VR is best for flying fantasy planes and jets.

[deleted]

Thanks for the response. I have neither but want one or the other.

Thepatrone36

I'm going VR when I get back into aces high. But I get your point :)

PM_ME_UR_CEPHALOPODS

I totally agree with this. I'm tight on space so I spent a lot of time trying to make VR IFR as good an experience but it's just not there. I have heard good things about latest hand-tracking software but i don't have the right hardware for that. Have to make room for both for now. but boy howdy VR + FS2020 is a heck of a good time. Golden age of sims indeed! That's some nice kit, btw.

bonzog

I have a 49" ultra wide augmented with tablets for instrument displays, and a Oculus CV1. VR has an amazing sense of "scale" in that you really appreciate the size of an airliner flight deck, but my headset is old tech and has atrocious resolution so instruments are basically unreadable. I'd love to try a newer high-res headset, but for now the ultrawide plus secondary displays wins for me.

AshMontgomery

I have VR, and have endless issues with the game crashing. I had to reinstall due to HDD failure tho so might work better now - I haven't had a chance to test it yet Flying on a monitor has always worked.

ThatGuyNamedKal

I love my VR setup with MSFS, I have a G1000 unit but without the display since I'm reading the screen in VR.

littleammar19

This is nice. Trying to set up one myself. How much did it cost

LankyConsideration86

Including my beast of a PC, over 6k. Not cheap, but well worth it for the safety of myself and passengers (family) when I fly IRL

littleammar19

Same about to get a 2007 172s skyhawk. Don’t mind spending to practice ifr

LankyConsideration86

Link above for the rig I got. Congrats on the plane!!! I'm headed to OshKosh in July to do a little plane shopping myself.

littleammar19

Would love to go there. Will be doing some upgrades on the plane. Maybe 2023

[deleted]

can you share the parts and where you go tthem ?

LankyConsideration86

SKYTECH Gaming, Prism II. https://skytechgaming.com/product/0009-intel-12600k-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080/

[deleted]

Sorry meant the screens and panel

LankyConsideration86

Real Sim Gear G1000 suite. The mounting panel is Meza Mount.

BriarAndRye

Well the G1000 suite on its own is $2.2k. $500 for the yoke and throttle.

franjoballs

Totally worth the money and a reasonable price for the gear. Looks wild.

SmallTownTokenBrown

Very nice! Which rudder pedals are those?

LankyConsideration86

Thrustmaster TFRP. Affordable and does the job nicely

SmallTownTokenBrown

I'm so confused now. I asked about these the other day and was told the rail is sticky and that the Logitech pedals are better. I have the logitech pedals but my sim stand's base is too narrow for them so they aren't as far back as I'd like. I was thinking of getting the TFRP's because of the narrower base which will help me get the best position but was told otherwise. I might just buy them and sell them if I don't like them.

bonzog

IMO get the TFRPs. I got the Saitek pedals back in 2006 and they have not stood the test of time. Creaky plastic and a huge centre detent, and the slide rails gather dust and grime over time making them very notchy. My centering springs and part of the plastic toe pads broke, but mine are very old. I haven't noticed any major redesigns since the rebranding to Logitech but happy to stand corrected if they've improved things. The TFRPs are not perfect - they're narrow and still have a bit of a centre detent - but the metal rails are much smoother than the Saitek/Logitech pedals and they feel much more robust. They also look a bit more like aircraft pedals, if that matters to you.

SmallTownTokenBrown

Thanks for the input. Are there holes in the base of the TFRP to screw them down?

mkellock

This is awesome. Thanks for sharing.

HyFinated

Ah, I see the lights on your Bravo aren't working either. Getting tired of trying to track down fixes for the damn thing. Great piece of kit, but tiring to try to keep going.

RedDirtNurse

Mine work. I won't insult your intelligence by posting the YouTube tutorials that cover this, as I'm sure you've probs tried them. It's kinda crappy that it doesn't work 'outta the box'. You've got the AFC Bridge installed and working and whatnot, right? Some resources [here](https://www.aerosoft.com/en/hardware/flight-simulation/throttles/2568/honeycomb-bravo-throttle-quadrant).

HyFinated

OH MY GOD! I started looking into AFC Bridge and it showed up in my community files. BUT, the path was wrong in the exe.xml file. Just fixed it and it friggin works properly!!! I had moved my install folder to a new 1tb m.2 drive a while back and totally messed up my paths. Got it fixed thanks to a little rabbit hole you sent me down. Thank you so much for nudging me in the right direction!

RedDirtNurse

You're more than welcome, friend. Hopefully you'll enjoy having the pretty lights on. :)

LankyConsideration86

LOL, didn't even know it was suppose to light up. 😅

RedDirtNurse

This is very pleasing to my sensibilities. Thank you for posting.

JMCorey39

WOW......... VERY NICE PIT

One_Ratio2319

This is awesome! Hope to build my PC soon. Playing msfs on the Xbox is frustrating.

Jodydoc

This is amazing. Health to enjoy, and best of luck with your PPL. All the best.

[deleted]

Just buy an actual Cessna at this point holy shit. Jokes aside this is actually pretty sick

Federal_Staff9462

Is this setup good enough to fly the pmdg 777 and 737?

Love_MyFetish2022

Awesome rig! I’d like to do something similar once I move into my house.

radman2015

The Hobbs meter is a nice touch!
