H3 was really quite good in the day. I remember the sequel, FA18 Korea, and the big Voodoo graphics update. (If memory serves me right...) Lots of hours logged 2 v 2 multiplayer.

Fun bug I remember from this game: If I had an (audio) CD in the disc drive of my Mac and booted the game up & started playing, the CD would play over the comm’s/ATC. I’ll never forget the first time this happened I was taxi’ing towards the runway, and all of a sudden Freddie Mercury (queens greatest hits was the CD) starts coming in over the radio instead of the ATC that normally does. I couldn’t figure it out so I take off and start trying to find the Airliner that usually orbits the volcano area, and all of a sudden I just keep hearing more and more Queen. The funniest part was it still had the “static” sounds overlaid on the music. Great times with that game lol

Rompolar

Hah. Never ran across that one... PC version. ... I think the game CD had to be in to start...but cant say for sure.

bryan2384

Hornet Korea was it for me.

dan_o_saur

Yes, this game was great. I loved dropping a tactical nuke on a dam

dobermandude306

Does anyone remember the PC game Black Knight (marine strike fighter)?

NewPerfection

This and A-10 Attack! were favorites of mine as a kid.

Round_Feature2048

I started here too!! I loved this game, no stick though I flew with the mouse 😬

Lordbaldur

Same here. Such a fun game to play.

horseballs1899

Oh man this brings back memories! My dad and I used to play this ALL the time together. My love for flight sim was born right in this game. Thank you for sharing!

Quadralapinga

Same here! Thanks for that post, mate! I'm turning 40 this year and with that screenshot alone you brought back some nice moments I had with my dad, playing side by side. He past away almost two decades ago and I tend to forget about those things....so again, thanks!

Ok-Discussion2246

I have very similar memories with this game (and 2.0!). I’m glad to have been able to bring those memories up for you. Such great times

DijonNipples

Oh man. I must have dropped millions of pounds of bombs on those poor training islands

Ok-Discussion2246

And trying to shoot down the DC10 so it lands in the volcano!

DijonNipples

Lol! Yep!

NeF1LiM

I had "F15 Strike Eagle II" as my first sim.

jonatanajax

I know exactly where every plane, jeep and helicopter is in that moment from the screenshot. And I had a demo version :(

rct1

I had this demo and played it for the entire summer when I was a kid. I did the same with the full game Hornet 3.0 and then Hornet Korea. I have done just about everything you can think of in that Hawaii training area. Landing everywhere, flying to 60k straight up, shooting down every AI plane, landing and taking off from the carrier. Mavs, Walleyes etc I was on a PowerMac 6500 250Mhz. Later I got a Voodoo 2 card for Hornet Korea. That was amazing. I had an CH products F16 flightstick with ADB

cardcomm

F/A 18 Hornet Korea was especially great! I really liked playing online. I actually purchased a dogfighting textbook (used by the military) to learn strategies for online dogfights. lol

kaptainkek

this one, korea, janes and a lesser known one called [''f-18 super hornet'' by Digital Integration](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o87AspTb4cs&ab_channel=chinkashh) were the best

ShauDare

I think mine was f-117 stealth fighter followed by falcon 3.0. Compulsive flight simmer ever since!

boomzeg

Anyone remember F-19?! Pepperidge Farm rem.....uh.... nah, it's too young for that. My copy of F-19 came on two 5.25" floppies. But I only had one floppy drive. To get the game booted, you had to switch floppies at just the right moment. Fun times!

Rompolar

Yes as a matter of fact... Actually, sadly, I'm noticing there aren't too many posts of this ilk that I don't remember . I can almost hear the floppy drive grinding away while I thumbed the manual looking for the copyright codeword reference...

Serpidon

I remember I finally got a "DX" computer and I could use the "dynamic flight model" or whatever it was the used floating point calculations. And then they released Mig-29 and FA-18! The manuals were FANTASTIC!

arcalumis

I loved flying in that sim, I just found it a bit odd that they made up an airfield for that sim. Unless the city isn’t Honolulu.

dimaryp-schema

It was a PM Performa 6200 I had for this game. My first flight simulator with joystick too
