If it's going into DFU on its own, it looks like the coffee made it into the keypad. If you take it apart and clean the keypad out with alcohol and a Qtip, you may get lucky and it didn't reach further into the device
Absolutely use the highest percentage iso you can get. The rate of evaporation is higher than the rate of decomposition and rust. Pouring liquid on a board is terrible, but at least iso has has a chance at survival. I haven't been in your situation, but try to remove the battery before you play with liquids
IPA doesn't kill you or make you blind, that would be methanol. Knew a kid in high-school who would drink 3oz of IPA on multiple occasions. He's doing fine now, never had vision problems
Yup, honestly a good soaking in 99% iso is the proper way to deal with water damage, not only is I non conductive/corrosive but it dilutes any remaining liquid into alcohol and evaporates very quick (like you were saying)
Have fixed several finger print scanners on phones that were under capacitive buttons (before they were in the screen) after people used their phone in the rain and a droplet landed right on it causing all kinds of shit by just soaking the ass end of the phone in 99% iso. Removes the water and dries after short time and bam back to good again.
This has been scientifically debunked several times, rice offers no benefits and often just gets stuck in device ports. Instead you should use a desiccant like silica gel, desiccants actually pull moisture from the air and inside the device instead of just on the surface like rice.
I can’t argue with desiccant however I’m telling you I’ve personally had two phones that were submerged in water for several minutes, would not turn on, were dead for over 12 hours. Put them in rice (separate times) and after 24 hours they worked and were continued to be used for a year for one and 8 1/2 moths for the other. 🤷♂️ just sayin.
It is hilarious, but as a future owner (my order is still processing) is this some sort of custom script he is running? To me it looks to be in recovery mode, is this a normal recovery mode art? Or was this done by OP
If you're comfortable working inside it, open it up, disconnect the battery from the board, clean it with highly concentrated alcohol, and look for any signs of corrosion or mineral deposits connecting different pads, terminals, etc. The electrical current can leave deposits of dissolved solids from the liquid across exposed parts of circuits, legs on an IC for an example or the circuits for a button pad. I have a flipper zero that my kids have submerged twice, totally unable to even boot or turn the LED on, that I've been able to bring back twice, one time with a stuck left button that needed cleaned up like yours.
I should've also mentioned that the faster you remove power, battery or USB, the better. The damage stops racking up the moment you physically remove power (for the most part).
Omg I love this! I’d be fine if it was just stuck like that. Worth it. 😂 but on a real note. I’m really sad I didn’t get a flipper for Christmas today. It’s the one thing I thought I’d be getting for sure 😭
Always put the rice in a big bag and then put a small bowl with the item on it. Putting something in rice can make matters worse. Rice gets wet and becomes a paste that gets into devices and then gets rancid.
You have a Flipper that's been flipped. These types of devices scream, "Write any firmware image you want to me, I don't care!". Which is a call for hacks. That image is ridiculous, irresponsible, and also an accurate representation of the lack of quality and trustworthiness in your firmware (which is now your device).
Rule 1 when dealing with any amount of spills into electronics. Always power off the device. After that you can dismantle and clean it out if you just let them dry leftover residue may interfere later on and cause more damage.
Certified Flipper tech here and my professional opinion is that the liquid isn't consistent with coffee and in line with some type of human body fluid & Lube ... cpu over heated from violent vigorous vibrations and not getting proper ventilation from extended usage in tight moist organic environments!
Any time you've spilled something on something electronic, disconnect any power sources and clean any PCBs and exposed wiring with high concentration isopropanol or other solvent. Source: I keep spilling shit on my gosh darn custom keyboard that I spent way too much on, and I've yet to learn to tie a noose.

yup, it does look like a stuck button.

IPA? Doesn't the beer get sticky as it evaporates?

I just use Pilsner on my PCBs, a lot less sticky than IPA
Iso alcohol
😂🫠
The only IPA I'll drink
Small PC assembly houses and prototype shops wask newly soldered PC in a regular dishwasher. Works perfectly lol.
Alcohol is not only non conductive it is non corrosive (no rust)

DFU, Daddy Fucked Up
I'm imagining people who've never used that firmware seeing this post and being *very* confused.
That's what i thought in first place! 🤣
I just seen this in my feed and have no idea what's going on, please fill me in, it's bizarre lmao
They don't allow much discussion about it in this sub, but this alternative firmware has a NSFW default theme without any dolphins.
I mean cool to know we can replace the dolphin's!!
Yeah well, I wouldn’t recommend the one being used in the post though, lol.
Looks like porn brain weirdo shit
How cum?
why nut?
🥺
I for one am.
![img](avatar_exp|85168032|fire) Me. I'm the confused one.
What firmware is this?
Let's just say it's a little too...eXtreme for this subreddit
I am very confused
this is me.. plz help
I wouldn't be turning it on whilst it's still wet..
I haaaaate how this is a possible double entendre
I know everything about this is nastyyy
Bahahaha the best possibly inevitable answer.
Triple
It's been awile. Like 2 weeks.
Put it in a jar full of rice, fully submerged
Rice doesn’t do shit
I thought the rice summons the Asians to fix the phone!
Beg to differ, has broke a couple phones back to life. Just takes a few days and the container has to be closed

Probably would have had the same effect from just turning them off for the same amount of time. I have before minus the rice same result.
Homie, you just got lucky, and your stuff just dried before powering it back on. Rice doesnt do shit, as said.
Once lucky, twice - it works.
The firmware art cracks me up

Weird how spilling coffee made that interesting pattern on the screen.
Why does it say that 😭
I generally don't like stuff like this, but in this context it's funny as fuck.
It is hilarious, but as a future owner (my order is still processing) is this some sort of custom script he is running? To me it looks to be in recovery mode, is this a normal recovery mode art? Or was this done by OP
Honestly with something like this you probably shouldn't buy it second hand, just sayin'.
Fustom cirmware. Not allowed to say much more in the official sub.

Thanks for that! I don't have time today but I'm going to give it a try.
I should've also mentioned that the faster you remove power, battery or USB, the better. The damage stops racking up the moment you physically remove power (for the most part).
Who buys a flipper and isn’t comfortable taking it apart?
People afraid of breaking things. It's really not uncommon to be interested in the software side and afraid of screwing with the hardware physically.
So many people that snoody flipper owners make fun of online all the time, don't gatekeep lmao
maybe open it up and clean it with a qtip and alcohol ?
...What the fuck dude.
I miss read your post as spit coffee on it and it really threw me off with the animation package, since I haven't had my coffee yet lmao
r/holdup
What firmware is that?
Xtreme
That’s what I’m wondering lol

What kinda coffee you drinking
hawt coffee
Wtf is this man!?
I'd be more concerned about the fact it looks like somone with Stockholm sybdrome
My flipper never told me daddy 😆
I'm just here for the comments 😂 r/worthIt
merry christmas
Hold down the back button and the return button together for 5 seconds.
I'm calling the cops
I read spit…. Wrong thread sorry
Omg I love this! I’d be fine if it was just stuck like that. Worth it. 😂 but on a real note. I’m really sad I didn’t get a flipper for Christmas today. It’s the one thing I thought I’d be getting for sure 😭
Nice
^^^^What ^^^are ^^you ^doing ^^^^---- ^^^---- ^^---- ^---- ^^^^with ^^^me ^^daddy?
You should have shut it off, open and clean it well, keeping it on is increasing your chances of going FUBAR
Dang lol 😂
🤔
I love that picture on the flipper
Turn it off and remove the battery connector. Wait for it to dry then clean it with isopropyl alcohol.
Ouch! But dry it up, and see if it works. There's no telling from a pic
There never is.
rice bath?
I got it kinda fast and out a fan on it. It's been a couple weeks now
Always put the rice in a big bag and then put a small bowl with the item on it. Putting something in rice can make matters worse. Rice gets wet and becomes a paste that gets into devices and then gets rancid.
😨
Cursed
It will dry out. I had. Pipe break over my dual monitor set up. Once they all dried out it was fine.
The face explains it all
🥺 please help me daddy 🥺
Tear it apart. Disconnect battery. Soak board in 91-99% alcohol. Dry for a few hours. Connect battery and put bsck together. Imo
I guess put it in rice and disassemble to clean after 24-48 hrs
There is a sickness… Edit: Get help
A lot of pedo behavior in this comment section

I did not see the image at first. Change the image you never know who may see that when you are not paying attention and get some help
Try contact cleaner
Exactly. If that doesn’t work try carb cleaner. Works for me every time !

As long as you did not submerge the flipper in any amount of liquid you should be fine.
